The location was a desolate alley, empty with no one around, illuminated only by dim streetlights.
Pete in the minivan noticed that the car in front had stopped. He ordered his men to halt and couldn’t help but wonder, “Why did they suddenly stop?”
The driver chuckled and said, “Boss, it’s so deserted here. A man and a woman parking here? Are they planning to have some ‘fun’?”
“Fun? Forget that! That woman is Mr. Lytton’s! Notify Tiger to get in front of them and block their way!” Pete instructed.
Next, Pete sent a message to Lawrence with their location and plans. He informed Lawrence that they were just ten minutes away from taking care of Leo so that Lawrence could come to the rescue.
On Leo’s end, after Rosemary parked the car, she noticed that the minivan behind them had also stopped. But the occupants didn’t make any moves, leaving Leo puzzled.
Just then, another van suddenly sped up from ahead, screeching to a halt right in front of Rosemary’s car.
The van’s doors swung open, and six menacing-looking men emerged, each brandishing a weapon.
The people from the minivan behind also disembarked, another group of six, armed as well.
Rosemary noticed all of this and paled. She thought that these people were after her.
“Don’t be afraid. Stay in the car,” Leo reassured her and then got out of the car.
Pete walked up to their car and said in a cold tone, “Beauty, daring to compete with our boss for business? You must have a death wish.”
Hearing this, Rosemary realized that this situation might be related to her taking over Cirrus’s agency rights. This made her even more nervous, and she quickly got out of the car and said to Leo, “They are after me, it’s not your concern. Get away quickly!”
Hearing her words, Leo was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected this cold, somewhat harsh woman to be quite valiant.
Pete let out a sinister chuckle and ordered, “Brothers, let’s cripple this guy first, and then we’ll strip this woman.”
This place might not have been the planned location, but it was remote, perfect for their sinister intentions.
Honestly, when Pete first laid eyes on Rosemary, he was tempted to deal with her. If it weren’t for the money he’d taken from Lawrence, he surely would have made a move on this beauty.
After seeing Rosemary’s beauty, Pete’s underlings became agitated. Even though Pete had told them not to touch the woman, in the ensuing chaos, some accidental contact was almost inevitable.
Leo turned to Rosemary and said, “If you’re afraid, you can hide in the car. I’ll take care of this.”
Rosemary, unaware of Leo’s skills and abilities, stared at him with wide, beautiful eyes, her eyes welling up. She said in astonishment, “This situation has nothing to do with you. I don’t want to get you involved. Please, run while you can.”
“From the moment I agreed to accompany you to the symposium, it became my concern,” Leo replied with a confident smile.
Seeing Rosemary’s worried expression, Leo reached out and patted her shoulder, comforting her, “Have you forgotten? I’m the one who rescued a little girl from that big fire.”
Leo’s words widened Rosemary’s eyes even more, and there was even a glimmer of joy in her heart because Leo had finally admitted to being that hero!
Right at that moment, the thugs came rushing towards them, brandishing their weapons mercilessly towards Leo.
“The upcoming scene isn’t suitable for you to see. Close your eyes, alright?” Leo cautioned once again.
Although Rosemary was reluctant, she obediently closed her eyes. She couldn’t help but think, “You’re the child!” as she did so.
Soon, cries of pain and the sound of bones breaking echoed in Rosemary’s ears.
Her intuition told her that the screams and the sound of breaking bones didn’t come from Leo.
Nonetheless, she remained tense, eyes tightly shut, and her long lashes trembling.
In this moment, Rosemary felt like time was moving at a snail’s pace, each minute and second an agonizing eternity.
Finally, Leo’s voice resounded once more, “It’s okay; you can open your eyes now.”
Rosemary quickly opened her eyes. Although only a few minutes had passed, it felt like an entire century had gone by.
Upon seeing the scene before her, Rosemary’s face registered pure shock.
The thugs who had been wielding weapons and showing hostility just moments ago were now all lying on the ground, clutching their chests and stomachs in agony.
The only ones standing on the scene were Leo and Rosemary. Pete remained as the witness.
Pete’s jaw dropped, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. He stared at Leo in disbelief, a look of sheer incredulity on his face.
He hadn’t even been able to clearly see how Leo had taken down his men. But the end result was evident: all the men he had brought were writhing in pain on the ground.
As fear swelled within him, Pete’s heart raced, and he could think of only one thing: to escape in his car.
However, as Pete turned to flee, he found Leo, who had been behind him a moment ago, now standing in front of him.
“Are you… are you human or a ghost?” Pete stammered, collapsing onto the ground.
Leo took a couple of steps forward and raised his foot, pressing it down on Pete’s ankle.
“Ahh! It hurts…” Pete screamed, trying to pull his foot back but finding himself unable to move an inch.
Leo bent down, his expression stern, and asked, “Tell me, who sent you?”
Leo knew these thugs hadn’t come for Rosemary; they were after him.
Leo’s strength had taken Rosemary by surprise. She stood by the car, gazing at Leo’s figure, and couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of affection welling up inside her.
Over the years, Rosemary’s disdain for men had grown due to her belief that the men around her were only interested in satisfying their carnal desires, offering nothing else. In her eyes, men were simply not up to her standards.
Furthermore, she considered herself an independent woman. She could not only support herself but also live a good life without needing anyone’s care, let alone a man’s. Most of the men she knew were good for nothing, only skilled in sweet talk to get women into bed. With time, Rosemary came to believe that women were more reliable and trustworthy than men, leading her to embrace a lesbian lifestyle.
Being with women made Rosemary feel more at ease, as it didn’t make her feel objectified, as men often did. Today, Leo’s performance was like a blade, cutting through the web of her preconceived notions and offering her a new perspective on men.
