“Click,” a light sound echoed.
The door swung open.
Sophia was momentarily dumbfounded, as if she had just won a lottery ticket on her first try.
“Leo, this… this…” Sophia didn’t know what to say.
Leo once again took her hand and said with a smile, “Don’t just stand there, come in. This will be our new home.”
He pushed the door open, and Sophia and Leo entered together.
Everything before them was not only bright but also magnificent, with an exceptionally elegant decor that made it feel like stepping into a medieval noble’s castle.
“Leo, is this… really going to be our new home from now on?” Sophia was on the verge of tears, overwhelmed by the reality before her.
Leo nodded confidently, “Yes, this will be our home. Cloud Dream Mountain has great air, and you can go for nighttime runs here.”
Sophia couldn’t contain her emotions any longer. Her womanly reserve shattered at this moment, and she threw herself into Leo’s arms.
“You bad guy, why are you so good to me?” Sophia’s delicate fists pounded on Leo’s chest.
“You’re my wife. I not only have to be good to you but also good to you for a lifetime, and only you,” Leo held Sophia tightly.
Sophia tiptoed and took the initiative to place her red lips on Leo’s.
In that moment, Leo could savor the taste of her lipstick to his heart’s content…
After a long while, the two reluctantly parted.
Leo smacked his lips and said with lingering joy, “I never thought lipstick could taste so delicious.”
Sophia sent another soft punch towards Leo’s chest, “You nuisance! What else are you hiding from me?”
“Nothing, absolutely nothing. This villa is my birthday gift to you, Sophia. Happy Birthday!” Leo looked into Sophia’s eyes with tenderness.
“A birthday gift this big, I can’t accept it,” Sophia said playfully.
Leo held Sophia’s hand and said sincerely, “As Langstel’s number one beauty, only you are worthy of receiving this birthday gift.”
Sophia’s heart had long melted away, and she hugged Leo tightly once more.
Next, Leo led Sophia to explore the inside and outside of the mansion. Then he asked, “Sophia, do you like the overall decor style? If you don’t, I’ll have the designer consult with you and make changes according to your preferences.”
“No need, I really like the style. Leo, thank you for giving me such a birthday gift,” Sophia’s heart was completely wrapped in happiness and joy.
Thinking about the kiss with Leo just now, Sophia blushed and said, “Wait for me a moment, I’ll go to the bathroom.”
Leo nodded, knowing that Sophia was going to touch up her lipstick.
Inside the bathroom, Sophia had just finished applying her lipstick when her phone rang. It was a call from Karen.
“Hello, Karen.”
“Dear, Happy Birthday!” Karen wished her, “What are you doing? I sent you a birthday card on Facebook, but you didn’t accept it.”
“Thank you, Karen. I haven’t checked Facebook. I’m here with Leo, checking the house…”
Sophia was interrupted before she could finish her sentence, “What? House? Are you and Leo buying a new house?”
“Not exactly, the house has already been bought.”
“Ah, where did you buy the new house?” Karen was a little surprised because Sophia already lived in a large mansion, and she didn’t understand why they needed to buy another house.
Sophia replied, “In the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area.”
On the other end, upon hearing the words “Cloud Dream Mountain villa area,” Karen was so shocked that she almost dropped her phone.
She thought she must have misheard and confirmed, “What did you say? You bought a house in the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area?”
“Yes, number nine villa, bought by Leo.”
“This…” Karen was dumbfounded, “I didn’t expect that the mysterious buyer from the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area auction was Leo!”
Karen was genuinely envious and jealous at this moment. This was genuine high-end flaunting of wealth. She could imagine that Sophia was completely wrapped in happiness right now.
Sophia continued, “He bought the Cloud Dream Mountain number nine villa without telling me. Today is my birthday, and he insisted on bringing me here to see it.”
To others, this statement might have sounded like showing off, but the friendship between Karen and Sophia was unbreakable. Karen knew Sophia wasn’t showing off but sharing her happiness and joy.
“Karen, what’s wrong with you?” Sophia sensed Karen’s emotional fluctuations.
“It’s nothing, I’m happy for you,” Karen controlled her emotions and changed the subject, “By the way, today is your birthday, and a few classmates want to celebrate with you. The location is Star World at Hang Lung Plaza. They told me to make sure you come.”
Sophia hesitated for a moment, then realized and smiled bitterly, “Karen, don’t tease me. It’s been so many years, and except for you, which classmate would remember my birthday? What’s going on? Just tell me.”
Ever since Sophia and Leo got married, her former close classmates began to distance themselves from her. Invitations to events like class reunions and birthday parties were rare. Even if she received an occasional invitation, it always came with the condition that she should bring Leo to add to the atmosphere, which essentially meant they wanted to mock Leo and undermine Sophia.
Knowing their tactics, Sophia wouldn’t attend any of those classmate gatherings, and thus, no one bothered inviting her anymore.
So, even though it was her birthday today, Sophia was well aware that no classmates were going to organize a birthday party just for her.
Karen sighed, knowing she couldn’t fool Sophia. She had to tell the truth, “It’s like this, Dina from our class, you remember her, right? She recently married a wealthy man, and to show off, she’s hosting a party at Star World in Hang Lung Plaza. She invited me and insisted that I bring you along.”
As soon as Sophia heard the name Dina, an image of an ambitious and vain woman came to mind.
Dina was relatively attractive, but she paled in comparison to Sophia or Karen. During their school days, she resented Sophia for being more beautiful than her.
You see, back then, Sophia had the reputation of being the campus belle, a combination of beauty and intelligence. Many wealthy students either openly pursued her or secretly admired her. Dina couldn’t help but feel envious and jealous of Sophia’s beauty.
