Just as the two were about to enter the clinic, a young couple hurriedly approached them.
The man looked at Dr. Davy and asked, “Are you Dr. Davy?”
“I am Dr. Davy,” Dr. Davy nodded.
“Dr. Davy, can you please take a look at my wife?” The man’s expression seemed anxious.
Dr. Davy made a gesture inviting them inside. In the examination room, the man and his wife sat down across from Dr. Davy.
“Dr. Davy, my wife and I have been married for over four years, and we still haven’t been able to have a baby. We’ve visited various hospitals in Langstel, but they couldn’t find any issues.”
“I heard from a friend that the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic is a well-established institution with miraculous medical skills. They say there’s no ailment you can’t cure. So, we came here with hope. Dr. Davy, my only wish now is to have a child. Please help us.”
The man spoke passionately, looking sincerely at Dr. Davy. His wife quickly chimed in, “Norman, please trust Dr. Davy. His medical skills are extraordinary, and I believe he can help me get pregnant.”
Leo, standing nearby, listened to their words with a slightly furrowed brow. While the couple appeared to be praising Dr. Davy and the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic, they were actually buttering him up. If Dr. Davy couldn’t cure their infertility, their attitude would likely take a 180-degree turn.
Leo took another glance at the woman. She was in her thirties, tall and elegant, with almond-shaped eyes, fair skin, long flowing hair, and she was wearing a form-fitting skirt paired with black stockings. She was undeniably attractive and would turn heads on the street.
At that moment, a few more men entered the examination room, and they couldn’t help but steal glances at the woman’s legs in black stockings. The woman’s husband, in contrast, had an ordinary appearance and didn’t seem particularly wealthy. In today’s society, for a man like him to marry such a beautiful woman was quite unusual.
Leo couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
“Lady, please extend your hand, and I’ll take your pulse,” Dr. Davy said to the woman.
The woman complied, offering her rather large hand. Dr. Davy began taking her pulse.
As the seconds ticked by, Dr. Davy’s brow gradually furrowed, and his expression grew increasingly serious. After three minutes, he withdrew his hand.
“Dr. Davy, how is my wife’s condition?” The man asked anxiously.
Dr. Davy wore a perplexed expression and, seeing the woman retract her hand, said, “Wait a moment, let me take another look.”
With an odd expression on his face, Dr. Davy examined the woman’s pulse once more. This time, he spent five minutes before finally withdrawing his hand. He then shook his head with a helpless expression.
The woman’s pulse was incredibly unusual, and Dr. Davy, who had practiced medicine for most of his life, had never encountered anything like it.
Dr. Davy had no choice but to turn to Leo. “Dr. Bloomer, her pulse is exceptionally unusual, and I can’t make a diagnosis. Would you mind taking a look?”
Dr. Davy stood up, making way for Leo. Leo took his place and examined the woman’s pulse. In about twenty seconds, Leo withdrew his right hand.
“Both of you, get out of here immediately!” To everyone’s surprise, Leo uttered these words.
“What? You want us to leave?” The man pointed at himself with an angry expression. “What kind of attitude is this for a doctor? Have you ever seen a doctor behave like this? If you can’t treat us, just say so. What do you mean by telling us to leave?”
The woman rolled her eyes. “I can’t believe the doctors at the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic would treat patients like this. And they claim to be a century-old reputable clinic. What a joke!”
The surrounding patients began to voice their displeasure as well.
“As doctors, even if they can’t treat the illness, they shouldn’t kick patients out. They have no ethics.”
“Yeah, I came here based on the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic’s reputation, and now I see how they really are.”
“The attitude of the doctors here is terrible. I think we should go to the Read Clinic across the street.”
Dr. Davy knew that Leo wouldn’t act this way without a reason. He leaned in and whispered to Leo, “Dr. Bloomer, is there a problem?”
Leo stood up from his chair, coldly observing the couple in front of him. “If you don’t leave now, don’t blame me for what comes next.”
The man’s expression turned icy, and he exclaimed angrily, “What do you mean by this? I came to your clinic for treatment, and you want us to leave? Is this how a doctor behaves? I’ll report you to the authorities and have this heartless clinic shut down!”
“This Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic is nothing but a scam, showing no regard for patients whatsoever. The doctors here lack any sense of ethics!” The woman joined in the outrage.
Dr. Davy wanted to step in and intervene, but Leo extended his hand, halting him, allowing the couple to continue their outburst.
Soon, their shouts drew the attention of several people, and even those waiting outside the Read Clinic joined the commotion. For them, while getting medical treatment was important, witnessing a spectacle was also an essential part of life.
In no time, the not-so-spacious examination room was crowded with onlookers.
The crowd seemed to give the man the courage to shout louder. “Everyone, please give us your opinions. My wife and I came all the way from out of town to seek treatment here. The doctor’s skills are shallow, and he can’t cure my wife’s condition. Not only that, he wanted to drive us out. This clinic is truly outrageous!”
“Tell us, should such a heartless clinic be shut down by the authorities?” The woman chimed in, perfectly in sync with her husband.
As the people who had heard the couple’s story began to murmur and point fingers at Dr. Davy and Leo, some accused them of lacking medical ethics.
Leo walked up to the couple, a cold smile on his face. “I don’t just want you to leave; I want to teach you a lesson!” With those words, Leo raised his right hand and delivered two resounding slaps, knocking the man and woman to the ground.
The fallen couple let out two miserable cries and then shouted while covering their faces, “The doctor at the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic is assaulting patients! The doctor is assaulting patients! Call the police quickly and arrest this unethical doctor!”
This couple successfully garnered sympathy from the onlookers. Some began to morally condemn Leo, while others took out their phones to prepare to call the police.
Leo suddenly wore a sly smile. “When you call the police, don’t forget to call the reporters too. I want to use the media to let all the people know that there’s a man who came to the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic wanting to get pregnant.”
