Chapter 244: Buying a Car

To be honest, Cherry was undoubtedly a beauty, but compared to Sophia, Leo lost interest in her.
Leo smiled and was about to refuse her when a sudden thought crossed his mind. He asked, “Miss Cherry, do you have a car?”
“Yes,” Cherry nodded.
“Could I trouble you to give me a ride down the mountain?”
Cherry was eager to get to know Leo better. When she saw the balance in his bank account in President Leacock’s office, she became interested. Correction, she became interested in Leo’s money. So, she hurriedly chased after him.
In Cherry’s eyes, someone like Leo, a freeloading son-in-law to a wealthy family, had absolutely no resistance to her beauty. She believed that with a little effort, she could transfer the money from his bank account into her pocket.
Cherry had always believed that since she had been blessed with beauty, it would be a disservice to God if she didn’t use it to her advantage.
She reached into her bag, took out her car keys, and drove a Volkswagen Passat over to Leo.
Leo opened the passenger door and got in.
During the downhill drive, they chatted casually. When Cherry asked some personal questions, Leo only gave her vague answers.
Once they reached the bottom of the mountain, Leo asked her to pull over.
Cherry stopped the car and was about to add Leo on Facebook with her phone when he suddenly opened the car door and got out.
Cherry quickly unfastened her seatbelt and followed suit. She called after him, “Mr. Bloomer, how about having dinner with me?”
“No need, thanks for giving me a ride down the mountain. Goodbye,” Leo said without looking back.
As Leo walked away, Cherry’s alluring smile turned icy. The usually proud Cherry couldn’t understand how a mere freeloading son-in-law could refuse her. In this city, countless men had fallen under her spell, and not one had been able to resist her charm.
“Leo, I’ll remember you. One day, I’ll make you regret turning away from me!” Cherry muttered to herself.
After walking for a while, Leo hailed a taxi and instructed the driver to take him to the largest Audi dealership in the city.
His Mercedes E-Class had been with him for several years, and now that he had received a million from President Leacock as compensation, Leo decided it was time to buy a new car.
Inside the Audi dealership, Leo noticed that it was eerily quiet. In fact, there were more salespeople than customers.
Leo had expected enthusiastic sales representatives to approach him immediately upon entering, but to his surprise, no one paid him any attention.
Actually, at first, the salespeople were eager to assist Leo, but as soon as they took a good look at Leo’s clothes and realized that his entire outfit cost less than three hundred dollars, they immediately abandoned that thought.
In their eyes, this guy who walked into the store was probably just like many others, looking to satisfy their curiosity and had no intention of buying a car.
There were plenty of such visitors who sought attention daily, and the sales team had developed a keen sense to spot them. Unfortunately, their judgment failed them on this particular day.
Leo cleared his throat and asked, “Is anyone going to welcome the customer here?”
In the vicinity, Amanda Nancy, who was the sales manager of this Audi dealership, couldn’t help but hear Leo’s words. She had assessed him as someone not genuinely interested in buying a car, so she wasn’t willing to invest her time.
“Irene, go and greet that guy,” Amanda instructed a new employee who was organizing documents.
Irene put down the documents and adjusted her clothes before walking over to Leo.
Amanda couldn’t help but mutter under her breath, “This broke guy has the audacity to stroll into an Audi 4S dealership. I wonder where he gets his confidence from.”
Sales staff performance and compensation were directly tied to car sales, and Amanda quickly deduced that the person who had walked in lacked the purchasing power. She didn’t want to waste her time on him, so she decided to delegate the task to the newly hired Irene.
Irene, who had just started working at the dealership a month ago and hadn’t yet been influenced by the office politics and cliques, approached Leo with a warm smile. She said, “Hello, sir. It’s my pleasure to assist you. Which Audi model are you interested in learning more about?”
Leo scanned the showroom and pointed to an Audi A8L. “Could you tell me about that car?”
“Of course, sir. Please follow me.” Irene led Leo to the Audi A8L and began explaining, “This Audi A8L is the latest model of the year, fully imported, and it’s the top-of-the-line version. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5. 7 seconds, has a maximum horsepower of 340, and features a 3. 0L TFSI engine. The suggested retail price is 160, 000, but if you pay in full, we can offer it to you for 150, 000.”
Irene, although relatively new to the job, had received several customers. She didn’t hold much hope for Leo buying a car but patiently explained the details, keeping a friendly smile.
Leo nodded. “Do you have one available for immediate delivery?”
“Yes, we do,” Irene replied.
“I need a car urgently today. If I pay in full, can I drive it away immediately after the transaction?”
Irene was momentarily stunned. If this guy was serious, it would be a pleasant surprise. Selling out one top-of-the-line A8L in a month was not common, even for the most experienced salespeople.
Seeing Leo’s determined expression, Irene asked once more, “Sir, are you sure you want to buy the top-of-the-line A8L?”
“Yes, please proceed. Kindly expedite the process, and I’d like to drive it away as soon as possible,” Leo said as he took out his bank card.
Irene was excited inside, her smile even sweeter as she said, “Sir, please follow me to the front desk to register your information. Once you’ve made the payment, you can take the car. We’ll take care of all the necessary procedures for you.”
In her mind, Irene quickly calculated that selling a top-of-the-line A8L would earn her around five thousand dollars in commission this month. She promptly led Leo to the cash register.
Every word exchanged between Leo and Irene reached Amanda’s ears, and her expression shifted. She couldn’t believe she had misjudged the situation. This guy had instantly decided to buy an A8L. Could he be from a wealthy family or something? Amanda had never seen someone make a car purchase decision so quickly – it hadn’t even taken five minutes from his arrival at the dealership.
