Chapter 236: The Rusty Scissors

“Mr. Lynd, as I mentioned earlier, your back pain issue is unrelated to any illness. Within five minutes, I guarantee your back won’t hurt anymore,” Leo said, looking at Director-General Lynd. “Mr. Lynd, could you please find me a small shovel?”
Director-General Lynd didn’t understand what Leo was up to, but he quickly found a small gardening shovel for him.
Leo took the shovel, walked over to the potted money tree, and lifted it out of the pot, soil and all. Then, he used the small shovel to loosen the soil around the tree’s roots. As three of them curiously watched, something black fell out from the roots, emitting a strange odor.
This black object seemed to be made of black oiled paper, wrapping something inside. Leo asked Director-General Lynd to fetch gloves, and then he opened the black oiled paper, revealing a pair of rusty scissors, one of those all-iron scissors from long time ago.
Seeing the rusty scissors, Old Lynd felt an inexplicable emotion. Even though he didn’t believe in superstitions and the supernatural, finding an old pair of scissors hidden in a potted plant he bought was enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine.
Leo examined the black oiled paper carefully and said, “This black oiled paper seems to be soaked in corpse oil.”
These words sent shivers down the spines of Director-General Lynd and the others. Leo was puzzled about who Old Lynd had offended to warrant such a sinister act.
Amidst the tension, Old Lynd suddenly realized that the pain in his back had significantly subsided. He moved his back and limbs, and the pain had almost disappeared, no longer the excruciating sensation from before.
Could it be because of these rusty scissors wrapped in the black oiled paper?
Old Lynd couldn’t help but think so, but his rational mind found it difficult to accept.
Old Lynd’s gaze toward Leo changed. Setting aside everything else, how did this young man know that there were scissors hidden at the root of the money tree?
Leo took out a lighter, placed the black oiled paper in the flowerpot, and ignited it. As the black oiled paper burned, a nauseating smell filled the air, causing Director-General Lynd and the others to step back.
After burning the black oiled paper, Leo picked up the scissors from the ground and then said to Director-General Lynd, “Now, get a large bowl and fill it with about half a bowl of rice, and give it to me.”
Director-General Lynd quickly complied with Leo’s request.
He placed the bowl filled with rice on the floor, and Leo buried the scissors in the rice. He then extended a finger into the rice, channeling a bit of spiritual power.
Dark wisps of energy emanated from the scissors, and the originally white rice began to turn black at a visible speed.
The three onlookers widened their eyes, finding it hard to believe what they were witnessing.
Old Lynd, in particular, was completely bewildered. Everything that had happened today exceeded his understanding and shook the foundations of his world view.
In just one minute, the entire bowl of rice had turned black. Leo stood up from the ground, removed his gloves, and said, “It’s done. Later, just throw away this bowl of rice and the scissors.”
Director-General Lynd hurriedly fetched a trash can, put them in a garbage bag, and tied it tightly.
Leo turned to Old Lynd and asked, “Mr. Lynd, your back should be fine now, right?”
Indeed, Old Lynd’s back was no longer in pain, and the moment the rice turned black, even the slight discomfort had disappeared.
Old Lynd looked at Leo and smiled ruefully. “Dr. Bloomer, please forgive my earlier rudeness.”
“Mr. Lynd, the art of feng shui and the supernatural has persisted for a reason. While there is a lot of superstition mixed in, it is still a gem in the treasure trove of Chinese culture,” Leo said with a smile.
Old Lynd felt a bit embarrassed. “You’re right, young miracle doctor. I apologize for my ignorance.”
Dr. Bentham, who had been observing, now had a deeper understanding of Leo. He thought to himself that this young man was undoubtedly extraordinary and asked for Leo’s contact information.
With the matter resolved, Old Lynd and his son warmly invited Leo to have lunch and even gave him a consultation fee as a token of their gratitude. Leo initially wanted to decline but ultimately accepted.
After bidding farewell to Old Lynd and his son, Leo drove to Cloud Dream Mountain because he had seen a message on a real estate app on his phone. The message stated that a villa in Cloud Dream Mountain was going up for auction soon, and interested parties could go to the sales center at Cloud Dream Mountain to register for participation.
However, there was a strict requirement for registration: individuals needed to have at least fifty million dollars in their bank accounts.
To fulfill his mother-in-law’s conditions, Leo had been eyeing the villa in Cloud Dream Mountain, so when he saw the message, he didn’t hesitate and drove straight to the villa area.
In the Seven Stars Sword Sect headquarter, in an ancient-style hall, the sect leader Jeff Rhys in traditional clothing asked, “Greg, have you thoroughly investigated that young man who stole our Seven Stars Sword Sect’s martial arts manual?”
“Master, it’s been confirmed. That young man is named Leo and is the son-in-law of the Henley family in Langstel,” Greg replied.
“A son-in-law?” Sect leader Jeff Rhys’ expression turned peculiar. “Could a son-in-law depending on a wealthy family possess such skills? Could he be from some martial arts sect?”
Greg shook his head. “We’ve investigated thoroughly, and there’s no martial arts sect or family background for that young man.”
“He lost his parents when he was six, raised by his grandmother, and after graduating from college, he married into the Henley family. It’s impossible for him to come from a martial arts sect or family,” Greg explained.
Jeff fell into thought. “If he didn’t come from a martial arts sect or family, then how does he possess such unusual abilities? There must be a significant secret hidden within him.”
“Master, I’ve personally fought against him, and I can guarantee he’s not a martial cultivator. But he possesses a combat strength far superior to any martial artist. It’s indeed strange and suspicious,” Greg said.
“Master, Greg is correct. I’ve also witnessed his bizarre abilities, completely different from those of martial cultivators. I believe he must have accidentally entered some kind of mystical place and acquired more advanced cultivation techniques,” Giles added.
Jeff nodded, understanding Giles’ point. “Are you saying this young man named Leo Bloomer has obtained spiritualist cultivation techniques of immortality?”
“It’s just my speculation. The true situation may only be revealed when we capture him and interrogate him,” Giles replied.
Jeff was intrigued. If they could really obtain the legendary cultivation techniques of immortality, they could break the limits of lifespan and establish dominance over the entire martial arts world. The top martial arts sects would be no match for them.
