Chapter 235: Director-General Lynd’s Father

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Director-General Lynd called Leo with a peculiar request: he wanted Leo to visit his father’s house because his father had been experiencing some inexplicable and unsettling occurrences lately. After witnessing Leo’s remarkable ability to deal with unusual situations, Director-General Lynd immediately thought of him.
Leo got the address from Director-General Lynd over the phone and headed to Old Lynd’s apartment.
Outside the apartment, Leo met Director-General Lynd, who was waiting for him. They entered together, and Director-General Lynd explained that his father had been suffering from sudden bouts of lower back pain and visited the hospital several times without any clear diagnosis. Additionally, there were instances of electrical problems at home, even though property management had confirmed that the electrical circuits were functioning correctly. The most disturbing issue was that Director-General Lynd’s father claimed to have heard eerie crying sounds late at night.
Director-General Lynd suspected that his father might be afflicted with something unclean, just like he had been before. That’s why he asked for Leo’s help. In his eyes, Leo had the ability to remove whatever negative energy was affecting them and resolve the strange occurrences.
Leo, after hearing about the issues his father had been facing, didn’t immediately commit. Some matters required personal investigation before he could make a judgment.
Inside the house, Leo activated his spiritual power and made a brief scan, but he couldn’t detect anything out of the ordinary. The furnishings in the living room appeared typical for a home, and there were no obvious anomalies.
However, Leo’s attention was drawn to a potted plant placed in the entrance hall.
“Eric, who’s this?” The house had a split-level design, and Director-General Lynd’s father had just come downstairs.
Leo turned to look, Director-General Lynd’s father was dressed casually, and he bore a striking resemblance to his son, although there was an air of authority about him that Director-General Lynd didn’t possess.
Director-General Lynd sounded surprised as he heard his father’s voice, “Dad, didn’t you say you were going fishing today?”
Lynd knew his father well; he had always dismissed things like superstitions and feng shui as nonsense. That’s why he had brought Leo along today to check if there was anything unusual in the house while his father was out.
“I didn’t go fishing today because of my back pain. I made an appointment with a Chinese medicine practitioner for acupuncture treatment,” Old Lynd explained, wincing in pain as he touched his lower back. Then, he turned to Leo and asked, “Eric, who is this friend of yours?”
Director-General Lynd introduced Leo, “Dad, let me introduce you. This is Leo Bloomer, a Chinese medicine practitioner with exceptional skills.”
“Chinese medicine?” Old Lynd raised an eyebrow in skepticism.
Hearing this, Old Lynd furrowed his brows, “Young man, some things shouldn’t be said lightly. I’ve already been to a traditional Chinese medicine clinic, and my back pain is due to muscle strain.”
“It’s not that,” Leo said firmly, “the pain you’re experiencing is a result of issues with the feng shui in your house.”
Old Lynd’s expression darkened when he heard the term Feng Shui. He became impatient, “Nonsense! Don’t bring that superstitious nonsense into my house. Eric, I don’t welcome him here. Please take him out.”
“Dad!” Director-General Lynd attempted to say something.
“Shut up and get him out!” Old Lynd’s impatience grew.
Director-General Lynd knew his father’s temper well. Once Old Lynd’s mind was set, there was no changing it. Looking at Leo apologetically, Director-General Lynd said, “Dr. Bloomer, I’m really sorry about this. Let’s go.”
“Mr. Lynd, if I leave now, within three days, your father’s life could be in danger,” Leo said firmly, not paying attention to Old Lynd’s objections.
Director-General Lynd was taken aback by Leo’s words. He had witnessed Leo’s accuracy in the past, like the time he narrowly escaped a car accident after heeding Leo’s advice.
Old Lynd, overhearing Leo’s claim, became furious. “This is all nonsense! Get out, or I’ll call the police!”
Ignoring Old Lynd’s outburst, Leo pointed at the potted plant in the entrance hall. “Director-General Lynd, was this plant recently brought into the house?”
Director-General Lynd nodded, “It was brought in a month ago from a market. My father had it moved here. Dr. Bloomer, is there something wrong with the potted plant?”
Leo stated with certainty, “The plant itself is fine, but there’s something inside the pot.”
Just then, someone knocked on the door. Director-General Lynd answered, and it was the doctor who had come to treat Old Lynd’s back pain.
The doctor glanced at Leo and curiously asked, “Mr. Lynd, who is this gentleman?”
“He was brought here by my son, playing some tricks and nonsense. Let’s not bother with them. Shall we go to the room for acupuncture?” Old Lynd’s back pain had become unbearable at this point, and he didn’t have the time or energy to confront Leo further. He quickly invited the doctor into the bedroom for acupuncture.
However, the doctor suddenly remembered something as he took a couple of steps. He turned to Leo with enthusiasm and asked, “I remember now, you… you’re the young doctor who competed with Dr. Rudolph at Healnature Clinic!”
He even took out his phone, found a video, and compared Leo to the person in the footage. Leo simply smiled, acknowledging it.
The doctor eagerly approached Leo and shook his hand, filled with excitement and admiration. The competition at Healnature Clinic had been recorded on video and caused quite a stir in the Langstel traditional Chinese medicine community. Everyone now knew about this young doctor whose medical skills were on par with Dr. Rudolph.
Seeing the doctor, whom he had invited, showing such respect for Leo, Old Lynd couldn’t help but be taken aback.
Had he made a mistake? After all, why would a traditional Chinese medicine doctor focus on feng shui and supernatural beliefs when he should be treating illnesses?
“Dr. Bentham, should we proceed with the acupuncture?” Old Lynd asked, enduring the pain.
Dr. Bentham turned to Old Lynd and smiled, “Mr. Lynd, with a young miracle doctor like this in your house, if I were to treat you myself, it would be like carrying coals to Newcastle. Your back pain can definitely be treated by him!”
After witnessing Leo’s competition with Dr. Rudolph in the video, Dr. Bentham had no doubt about Leo’s medical skills. If the traditional Chinese medicine field had more individuals like this young miracle doctor, Chinese traditional medicine wouldn’t have fallen into decline. Director-General Lynd quickly added, “Dad, since Dr. Bentham has such faith in Dr. Bloomer, why don’t you let him treat you?”
At this point, relieving his back pain was the top priority. After some consideration, Old Lynd put aside his previous skepticism of Leo and said, “Young man, since Dr. Bentham has such high regard for you, please go ahead and treat me.”
