The lion-tiger beast was enraged, a flash of killing intent in its enormous eyes. It crouched, and its sharp claws were exposed as its massive body lunged toward Master Gu once again.
“Icy Blade!” Master Gu shouted again.
“Boom!”
A deafening sound echoed as the lion-tiger beast’s enormous front paw was blocked by Master Gu’s short dagger.
Originally, Master Gu believed that his Ice Blade, fueled by his internal energy, would slice through the lion-tiger beast’s paw. But what took him by surprise was that the lion-tiger beast shattered the Ice Blade with a single swipe of its sharp claws.
As the razor-sharp claws descended, they tore through Master Gu’s chest, leaving three gruesome gashes.
The lion-tiger beast swept its left paw, and Master Gu was sent flying, spitting blood, before crashing into the iron cage.
Master Gu, despite his strength, managed to struggle to his feet after the brutal attack. But his agonized expression and hunched posture showed that he was unlikely to defeat the lion-tiger beast.
In Master Gu’s fearful eyes, the lion-tiger beast pounced on him, pinning him to the ground. Its massive head lowered, and its copper-bell-like eyes locked onto him. The searing hot breath from its mouth washed over Master Gu’s face.
Fear filled Master Gu’s eyes. He tried to break free but found himself immobilized by the lion-tiger beast’s claws.
It was clear that if the lion-tiger beast decided to bite down, Master Gu would meet an inevitable death.
In the audience, tension filled the air, especially for the gentleman with membership card 01456. His face displayed deep concern. While it was acceptable for the young man to lose the fight, he couldn’t afford for him to die here; his powerful backers wouldn’t forgive such a failure.
Even beasts like the lion-tiger beast knew the difference between prey and opponents. Despite its arrogance, the lion-tiger beast seemed to have a look of disdain on its face. It moved away from Master Gu’s prone body.
Master Gu narrowly escaped with his life.
In the second round of the battle, the lion-tiger beast emerged victorious once again.
Master Gu, battered and bruised, walked out of the cage unassisted, shrugging off the attempts of the staff to help him. He disappeared into the corridor.
Ursula’s voice echoed, “In the second round, the lion-tiger beast has secured another victory. Now, let’s proceed to the final round of arena battles. Please, dear guests, place your bets, as the third and final round of combat is about to begin!”
As Ursula spoke, a five-minute countdown appeared on the large screen.
After witnessing the defeats of powerful opponents, the guests were more cautious in betting this time. Many consulted the fighters they had brought with them, but most shook their heads, admitting they couldn’t defeat the lion-tiger beast.
Consequently, the number of people placing bets decreased significantly.
The man beside Leo sighed, “This the lion-tiger beast is too strong. Trying to win the arena challenge prize is nearly impossible.”
“I want to give it a try,” Leo suddenly said.
The man turned to him, astonishment in his eyes. “Did you bring your fighters?”
“No, I’ll do it myself.”
In the man’s amazed gaze, Leo began entering a series of numbers on the back of his membership card.
The man was left dumbfounded as he stared at the numbers displayed on the membership card’s small screen.
Upon completing the betting, Ursula’s voice rang out, “Time’s up. Please, look at the big screen.”
Honestly, Ursula didn’t have high hopes for this third-round arena challenge. the lion-tiger beast was the fiercest creature in the arena. People didn’t amass wealth overnight, and they wouldn’t recklessly wager it on a whim.
The large screen displayed two sets of numbers: the challenger’s membership card number (02893) and the betting amount. The number of zeros following the first digit took everyone’s breath away.
The first digit of the bet was “2,” followed by a staggering eight zeros, totaling two hundred million dollars.
“My goodness, two hundred million!” Ursula unconsciously swallowed hard, her face frozen in disbelief.
She had worked here for quite some time, and she had never seen anyone bet such a staggering amount on an arena challenge.
“Who is 02893? Are they crazy? Could it be a system error?” someone couldn’t help but ask.
Others turned their attention to the large screen, speculating that this person must have made a mistake, intending to bet twenty million but accidentally adding an extra zero.
“The betting amount requires confirmation twice. I doubt it’s a mistake. Is 02893 out of his mind or just incredibly wealthy?”
The screen soon focused on Leo, who wore a mask. People began to exchange whispers, attempting to guess his identity.
Ursula, having recovered from her initial shock, beamed and announced, “Congratulations to VIP guest 02893 for securing a spot in the third-round arena challenge. Now, let’s witness the final match of the day. Please, dear guests, stay tuned!”
As Leo rose from his seat, the man next to him regarded him with disbelief. And so as the other audience.
The audience watched in astonishment as Leo approached the cage. They were witnessing a rare event-the person who placed the bet was stepping into the arena personally.
“Is that person a madman? He dare to go out himself.”
“It’s terrifying. Do you think he’s from some extraordinary martial sect?”
“It’s possible. Ordinary people would wet their pants just from seeing that beast, let alone challenging it.”
As Leo stood beside the cage, the staff quickly opened a door for him. Leo entered, and the entire audience fixed their gaze on him.
Everyone speculated about Leo’s identity as they watched him on the large screen. Leo entered the cage, and the lion-tiger beast, which had been lazing on the ground, suddenly stood up, regarding him with an unusual seriousness.
It was clear that this creature, which possessed a trace of spiritual power, sensed something different about Leo. Leo smiled as he looked up at the lion-tiger beast.
the lion-tiger beast took a step back, then roared at Leo, its voice shaking the audience. Its fur turned a fiery red, as if flames were igniting on its body.
Such a creature, which had already gained some intelligence, possessed an extraordinary perception of danger. It had sensed that the human before it was far more dangerous than the two challengers before.
Leo’s face held a calm smile as he extended a finger toward the lion-tiger beast. “Let’s begin.”
the lion-tiger beast crouched on all fours, the wind stirring around it. Following its usual pattern, it lunged fiercely at Leo.
