“I’m not sure. This guy was brought here by Scar,” the staff member replied.
“Scar?” Noah Louis flicked his cigarette onto the injured man’s body on the iron frame. “Bring Scar and that guy to the guest room. I want to see what they’re up to.”
Although Scar held some reputation on the streets, he was nothing in Noah Louis’s eyes. If he intended to make money here, he’d better pray his luck held.
“Understood, Mr. Louis.” The staff member respectfully acknowledged and then left the room.
Noah Louis returned to the iron frame with a sinister expression. He grinned, “Don’t you dare die on me. You’re looking for your wife, right? Well, later you’ll have to watch me play with her.”
The man on the iron frame finally raised his head. With bloodshot eyes, he stared at Noah Louis, his throat twitching.
Noah Louis couldn’t stand that look. He spat onto the man and said, “Bob Abe, did you really think you could disappear without a trace? You probably didn’t expect to end up like this. Back then, our empire was thriving. You abandoned everything for a woman, and now you must regret it.”
“Noah, I treated you like a brother before. Let my wife go, and I’ll do anything you ask!” Bob Abe’s voice was hoarse, filled with a pleading tone.
In the past, Bob Abe had created an underground empire, and Noah Louis was his second-in-command. Noah Louis had planned to take over the southern underworld forces. However, Bob Abe’s infatuation with a woman led him to dissolve the hard-earned power, ruining Noah Louis’s plans.
After Bob Abe disappeared, Noah Louis was left unsatisfied. He embarked on his own journey, determined to surpass Bob Abe’s glory.
With four years of development and the support of the Flying Dragon Business Association, Noah Louis’s influence grew rapidly. By now, he had gained control over most of Langstel’s underground.
During these four years, Noah Louis hadn’t forgotten Bob Abe. He secretly swore that he would find him, even if it was like searching for a needle in a haystack. He wanted to make Bob Abe regret his actions and show him that without money and power, he couldn’t protect his beloved woman.
“I’m sorry, but your woman probably won’t survive today.” Noah Louis spread his hands, looking somewhat helpless.
Hearing this, Bob Abe’s body trembled. With what little strength he had left, he struggled briefly and then let out a fearsome roar, “Noah Louis, if my wife dies, I swear I’ll tear you apart!”
Noah Louis, now distant from Bob Abe, didn’t feel threatened by his words. He sneered, “Bob, you’re just an ant in my eyes now. Don’t worry, after I’ve had my fun, I’ll send you to the underworld to meet your wife.”
Having said that, Noah turned to his men. “Take good ‘care’ of him, but don’t kill him.”
Noah left the room and headed to the guest room.
“Scar, you’re quite a rare guest. What brings you here to play today?” Noah Louis greeted Scar with a smile.
In the past, Scar might have feared Noah Louis, but today he gathered courage. “Mr. Louis, did you capture Bob Abe?”
Ignoring the question, Noah Louis’s gaze shifted to Leo. “I watched your ring recordings earlier. You’re pretty skilled. What’s your name?”
“Leo Bloomer.”
“Leo Bloomer?” Noah Louis’s brow furrowed in thought. “I feel like I’ve heard that name somewhere before. Let me think…”
“It just came to me. Aren’t you the useless son-in-law from the Henley family? I remember you were in the entertainment news,” Noah Louis said with an amused expression.
Leo remained composed. “That’s me.”
Observing Leo’s calm demeanor, Noah Louis was surprised and clicked his tongue. “Seems like during these years of being the son-in-law, you secretly took combating classes. In my territory, whether you’re talented or useless, there’s a place for you to showcase your skills. Here are your two choices. First, join my underground boxing arena as a fighter. Second, let me break your hand and leg, then toss you out. You have five seconds to decide.”
This guy sure loved to talk. Leo didn’t bother wasting words and asked directly, “Did you capture Bob Abe?”
Noah Louis’s grin faded. His tone turned cold. “Kid, I gave you a choice, not a chance to question me.”
“Let me ask you one more thing. Did you capture Bob Abe?” Leo’s voice grew icy too.
Surprised that a freeloader dared speak to him this way, Noah Louis looked down on Leo. “Damn it, I did. You think you can save him?”
Leo stared back at Noah Louis, his tone demanding, not negotiable. “Release him now, and I can give you money.”
Noah Louis’s pupils contracted, and he pointed at himself. “Leo Bloomer, do you think I’m so desperate for money? Where the hell did you see me struggling? An uninvited freeloader dares to waste money like a spoiled rich kid. It’s laughable!”
“Since you don’t want money, then I won’t give it to you. But you still need to release him.” Leo’s tone shifted from negotiation to command.
Noah Louis suddenly laughed. “Are you kidding me?”
One of Noah Louis’s lackeys chimed in, “Mr. Louis, from what I’ve heard, these freeloading sons-in-law have no standing in their wives’ families. If the mother-in-law isn’t pleased, they’ll make him kneel on durian shells. I’ve heard this guy’s been mentally unstable from being oppressed for a long time.”
Noah Louis nodded in agreement. “Probably. Men like him, who’ve ended up like this, are a waste of air when alive and a waste of land when dead.”
Leo took a step forward, emanating a powerful aura that pressed against Noah Louis.
Noah Louis’s expression tightened. “Kid, what are you trying to do?”
Simultaneously, Noah Louis’s henchmen surrounded him protectively.
Leo locked eyes with Noah Louis. “I’ll give you one last chance. Release Bob Abe immediately!”
“No way in hell. A useless wimp like you thinks he can soar after a few ring matches? Break his limbs and throw him out to feed the dogs!” Noah Louis stepped back a few paces, and his men lunged at Leo.
What followed was the sound of fists striking flesh.
The sound didn’t last long, and when it faded, Noah Louis’s mouth hung open.
The next second, he tried to run, but he felt a gust of wind, followed by pressure on his neck that made it hard to breathe.
