As soon as he recognized this man, Philip’s expression darkened. He coldly demanded, “Scar, what are you doing here?”
Scar looked at Philip, his voice deep and grave, “Philip, you must be itching for trouble, daring to mess with Mr. Bloomer!”
Mr. Bloomer?
Philip hesitated for a moment and then understood. Scar was referring to Leo!
“Scar, did Leo pay you? Think carefully, this is my territory!” Philip glared at Scar, finding it hard to believe that the usually cautious Scar would dare to come after him for money.
Scar didn’t respond, instead looking at Leo.
It was evident that Scar was now placing Leo at the forefront.
“Scar, take my wife out, and escort her to the car,” Leo instructed.
Sophia held onto Leo’s hand, feeling bewildered. She didn’t understand what was happening or where this scar-faced man had come from.
Leo gazed at Sophia gently, “I need to handle things here. Wait for me in the car; it won’t be long.”
Although Sophia was confused, she realized that these sudden arrivals were here to help Leo. She released her grip on Leo’s hand and advised, “Alright, be careful.”
Leo nodded, “I’ll be fine. Trust me, go wait in the car.”
Seeing Leo’s confident expression, Sophia felt reassured. Following one of Scar’s subordinates, she left the room.
Philip wanted to intervene, but he hesitated to speak because a dark handgun was pointed at his head, and other people were rushing in from outside, subduing all of Philip’s underlings.
“Mr. Bloomer, how do you want to handle Philip?” Scar asked Leo.
Philip suddenly burst into a sinister laugh, “Scar, I think you’ve gone mad. You’ve turned into a lapdog for a freeloading son-in-law. It’s incredible that you, who used to be my equal on the streets, have stooped this low. You’re making me sick!”
Scar’s facial muscles twitched twice upon hearing Philip’s words. The long scar on his face seemed to turn redder, resembling a crimson centipede crawling on his face-disturbing and unsettling.
“Philip, believe me or not, I’ll put a bullet through you!” Scar’s threat carried a potent sense of intimidation when he got serious.
Philip, however, was unperturbed by Scar’s threat. He knew Scar was familiar with his background. To attack him, Scar would have to weigh his own capabilities against Philip’s.
Philip smirked confidently, “Scar, I’m not easily scared. You know my backing well. If something happens to me, you’ll follow me to the grave. My advice to you is to get your people out of here quickly. I won’t pursue this matter today!”
Scar hesitated slightly. Although he had come to help Leo today, he hadn’t planned to kill Philip, and he couldn’t do it right now. Philip was backed by the Flying Dragon Business Association. Killing him would also mean inviting retaliation against himself from the same association.
Seeing the fierceness in Scar’s gaze diminish, Philip knew his words were effective. He boasted with satisfaction, “Scar, you know what consequences you’ll face if you anger the Flying Dragon Business Association. I believe you understand it better than I do. Now, take your people and leave!”
At the mention of “Flying Dragon Business Association,” Leo stepped forward, looking at Philip with a cold gaze.
Philip felt nervous. He didn’t know whether Leo had heard of the Flying Dragon Business Association before, so its reputation might not necessarily deter him.
“Hey, what are you planning?” Philip asked, warily.
Leo didn’t respond with words. Instead, he raised his right hand.
Philip’s underlings were loyal to him. Seeing Leo’s gesture, three of them managed to break free from Scar’s control and charged at Leo.
After three cries of pain, the three men lay on the ground, moaning while clutching their stomachs.
Leo’s decisive kicks had shaken Philip. The way he handled those men was a revelation-according to Philip’s judgment, if Leo was considered trash, then everyone on Langstel’s streets must be trash too.
With both Scar’s call and his impressive combat skills, Philip saw Leo in a new light.
Seeing Leo approach him, Philip nervously asked, “Leo, what are you planning? Compared to the Flying Dragon Business Association, you’re like ants against an elephant. If you dare to-”
“Smack!”
Before Philip could finish his sentence, he felt a fiery sting on his cheek, followed by swelling.
Leo noticed that he had developed a liking for slapping people lately. It felt rather satisfying.
Clutching his cheek, Philip looked at Leo in disbelief.
He simply couldn’t believe that a universally recognized useless a son-in-law dared to slap him. Could it be that this man who shared the same name as the Henley family’s waste son-in-law was actually a completely different person?
Philip was a small-time boss in his own right, so he couldn’t tolerate this insult. He threw a punch at Leo.
Leo didn’t even flinch at Philip’s fist. He casually lifted his foot and delivered a swift kick.
Philip was sent flying, crashing into a wooden table with a resounding “boom.”
Leo walked up to Philip, leaning down as he asked, “Tell me, how did you and Bruno plan this?”
Even under such pressure, Philip remained stubborn, “Leo, if you have the guts, kill me now. Otherwise, when I return, I’ll make sure your body is in pieces!”
“Why the bravado?” Leo sighed, turning to Scar. “I don’t want to dirty my hands with scum like him. I’ll handle the Flying Dragon Business Association. Right now, I just want you to beat him to a pulp.”
Scar was smart. After spending time with Leo, he knew Leo was far from ordinary. Once Scar chose to ally with Leo, there was no turning back. So, Scar holstered his gun and ordered his men to teach Philip a lesson.
The room echoed with cries of pain as Philip’s subordinates were taught a lesson by Scar’s crew. Watching their boss being beaten mercilessly had instilled a deep fear of Leo within them.
Times had truly changed. These days, even a son-in-law like Leo who’d come knocking at the door could casually beat up the boss on street.
“Scar, damn it all. I’ll remember this debt. I promise you, it’ll come back tenfold one day!” Philip cursed and swore as he endured the beating.
“Beat him! Keep going until he’s half-dead!” Scar’s liver was burning from Philip’s insults.
Tough as he was, Philip’s resistance lasted for only a minute.
