“Stretch out your hand,” Leo instructed.
The middle-aged man extended his right hand.
Leo gripped his wrist and gave it a swift up-and-down shake.
A crisp “crack” resounded twice, and the middle-aged man couldn’t help but let out a cry of pain.
Leo released his grip and said, “Try moving it now.”
The middle-aged man tried various positions and angles for his right hand’s movement, and soon a look of pleasant surprise crossed his face, “It’s moving freely! Truly incredible! Thank you, our medical skills are marvelous!”
Observing how Leo swiftly healed the middle-aged man’s hand, other patients couldn’t stay seated any longer; they crowded around.
“Hey, I’ve been having diarrhea lately. Tried loads of meds, but they’re no good. Can you take a look?”
“Hey, I’ve been suffering from insomnia, unable to sleep properly for ages. Can you help?”
“Hey, I’ve been experiencing frequent nausea and vomiting.”
Patients fervently surrounded Leo, leaving the clinic’s actual doctor, Dr. Davy, sidelined.
Dr. Davy merely smiled, not displaying any displeasure at Leo’s sudden prominence.
Renee wore a smile too, grabbing two cups of water from the dispenser and taking a seat on a nearby chair.
Leo’s diagnostic speed was impressive; he had discovered a new ability. By channeling his spiritual power into his eyes, he could directly identify the ailments within patients, bypassing the traditional observation, questioning, and palpation steps.
Leo fetched paper and pen, beginning to write prescriptions.
“You with the diarrhea have a problem with your intestines. I’ll prescribe you something that will put a stop to it in three days.”
“For your insomnia, I’ll prepare a calming potion. Take it for a week straight, and your sleep quality should improve.”
“You, dealing with nausea, well, you’re pregnant.”
In less than an hour, Leo had seen all the patients seeking consultations at the clinic.
In the end, each person left with a pleased or content expression, clutching their prescriptions.
Starting from today, the once-fading clinic without a name rekindled the attention of Langstel citizens.
The people who had been treated here today acted like flames, spreading the word far and wide.
As Renee handed Leo a cup of water and the two were about to discuss transfer fees with Dr. Davy, more patients arrived at the clinic.
For the past ten years, the clinic had never been this bustling. Leo’s arrival seemed to have injected vitality into stagnant waters.
Dr. Davy once again handed over the reins of diagnosis and treatment to Leo, even assisting him.
Particularly with a few patients plagued by persistent ailments, who had frequented the clinic numerous times, Dr. Davy had struggled to find a solution for them. Yet, Leo effortlessly resolved their issues, often employing acupuncture techniques.
Dr. Davy’s initial surprise transformed into admiration, and eventually even a hint of reverence.
A speculation took root in Dr. Davy’s mind: this young medical prodigy must hail from an ancient lineage of traditional Chinese medicine, one that spanned centuries.
Only such a lineage could nurture such remarkable talent.
After bidding farewell to the patients, Dr. Davy set aside his former arrogance completely, bowing respectfully to Leo, “Leo, I was disrespectful to you before. Please accept my apology.”
Leo quickly extended a hand to prevent the bow, “Dr. Davy, there’s no need for that. I’m the younger one here and can’t accept.”
“In the realm of Chinese medicine, skill is what matters, not age. Witnessing your exceptional methods today is truly a blessing. If you were to manage this clinic, it would undoubtedly be a boon to the people here,” Dr. Davy sincerely expressed.
Since the car accident, Dr. Davy’s confidence in his skills had waned. Despite treating countless patients and being seen as a marvelous doctor by many, his inability to heal his own daughter’s legs had shaken his sense of worth.
“Ms. Browne, I withdraw the price I mentioned earlier. This clinic, it’s still worth five million. Entrusting it to someone like Leo puts my heart at ease,” Dr. Davy informed Renee.
Naturally, Renee was elated. As she was about to retrieve the contract from her bag, Leo suddenly spoke up.
“Dr. Davy, I think you should just give me the clinic as a gift.”
Dr. Davy and Renee exchanged astonished glances, then Dr. Davy’s surprise transformed into delight, “Leo, are you proposing to treat my daughter’s legs?”
“Yes, let me take a look at your daughter. Maybe I can find a way to heal her legs.”
Hope, long extinguished in Dr. Davy’s heart after the car accident, was reignited. He eagerly led Leo and Renee to the backyard.
Though small, the backyard was lush with greenery. A rockery and a small pond had been creatively arranged, housing some goldfish.
Walking along a path of green stone, a three-story building emerged in sight.
In front of the building, to the left, there was a pavilion surrounded by bamboo. In the pavilion sat a woman in a wheelchair. She wore a light blue dress, her waist-length hair flowed down, and she appeared to be around Renee’s age.
She held a copy of Adam Smith’s “The Wealth of Nations,” engrossed in its pages.
At first glance, she resembled a dignified lady of old times, and in this setting, it was almost like a time-traveling illusion.
In this bustling age, encountering a woman of such grace and tranquility, steeped in the scent of literature, was a rarity.
Seeing her father approach with a young man and a woman, the woman put down her book and lifted her head, “Dad, are these guests here to buy our clinic?”
Dr. Davy nodded.
With a wistful smile, the woman said, “Dad, I know about my legs. Even if I went abroad, they can’t be fixed. The clinic has been passed down through generations of the our family. I can’t let it end with you.”
“Silly girl, you’re my only daughter now. If I can make you stand again, I’d gladly trade my life, let alone the clinic.”
Tears welled up in the woman’s eyes, “Dad, don’t say that. While I can’t stand, being able to stay by your side is enough for me.”
“Grace, this young man isn’t just a buyer; he’s also a miraculous doctor well-versed in Chinese medicine. I’d like him to take a look at your legs,” Dr. Davy pointed to Leo.
“Miraculous doctor?” Grace Davy raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “Dad, he’s so young. How could he be a miraculous doctor?”
“I witnessed it myself, and today, he treated all the patients who came to the clinic,” Dr. Davy recounted the events.
Upon hearing her father’s story, Grace’s skepticism shifted to cautious curiosity. She scrutinized Leo anew.
