Clicking to enter, the first thing that appeared was a photo, the bride and groom welcoming their guests.
In a pristine white wedding dress stood Sophia, while Leo, dressed in a suit, was by her side!
So, Sophia was actually Mr. Bloomer’s wife. No wonder he insisted on handing over the exclusive distributorship to her. But why didn’t they let Sophia know he was the true mastermind behind Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company?
Alvin continued scrolling down. When he reached the end, his hand trembled, and the mouse nearly fell to the ground.
Mr. Bloomer was, astonishingly, the man who married into the Henley family!
This was beyond belief – the person Azure Financial dispatched to manage Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company turned out to be a man living on his in-laws. It was unfathomable, truly incomprehensible.
Recalling the scenes of their first encounter with Leo, his manner of speech, the confidence that radiated from his face, how could he possibly be a man who relied on others?
Alvin closed the webpage and rubbed his temples. His head was throbbing; he felt like the world had become surreal.
On the other side, Sophia had already left the Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company.
Not far from the gate, a man sat on the ground smoking a cigarette. He hurriedly extinguished the cigarette and dialed a number on his phone.
“Hello, Mr. Henley, Sophia is coming out.”
“From the time she went in to the time she came out, how long did it take?” Bruno’s voice came from the other end of the line.
“Less than twenty minutes,” the man replied.
“Great! If she came out so quickly, it means the negotiation must have fallen through!” Bruno’s voice was filled with excitement. “You can come back now.”
In Bruno’s home, he hung up the phone with a smile on his face.
Fanny was sitting on the couch eating grapes. Seeing Bruno’s excited expression, she asked, “Bruno, did Sophia fail in the negotiation?”
“Absolutely. I had someone waiting outside the gate the whole time. The duration of Sophia’s entrance and exit today was almost the same as the day I went in and out. It’s clear that she and Alvin didn’t reach an agreement. Moreover, I’ve given my ace card to Alvin’s secretary, Kevin. As soon as Alvin sees that falsified document, there’s no way Sophia can succeed.”
“Do you want to call Kevin and confirm?” Fanny was a bit unsure and suggested.
“No need. I’ve already made an arrangement with Kevin. If Sophia succeeds, he’ll call me. If he fails, there’s no need for a call. Since he hasn’t called, it’s certain the negotiation fell through.”
Hearing this, a pleased expression appeared on Fanny’s face. “Congratulations, Bruno. Once you take over Sophia’s company, we’ll kick her and Leo out of the Henley family. Let them beg on the streets, haha.”
“That’s a good idea. I like it,” Bruno laughed too.
After leaving Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, Sophia went straight to her own company. She decided to tell her parents and Leo the good news later in the day.
As for Leo, he had initially intended to go into the Fly Building to talk with Coral, but then received a call from Renee.
“Leo, where are you? Do you have time?” Renee’s voice came from the other end of the line.
“I’m at Wilde Jewelry Company. What’s up?”
“I’ve got all the documents and information the traditional medicine clinic needs ready, and I’ve found a location. I want to take you to see it.”
“So soon?”
“Of course. I’m always swift in my actions. Are you free now? I’ll come pick you up.”
Leo agreed and hung up the phone. He didn’t feel like going up anymore, so he waited by the roadside for Renee.
After about ten minutes, Renee appeared in a Bentley in front of Leo.
Leo opened the car door and got in.
Today, Renee was wearing a white shirt matched with jeans. She looked alluring, with a touch of youthful vitality.
If someone was good-looking, they looked good in anything they wore.
After about an hour, the two arrived at their destination.
Honestly, Leo had lived in Langstel for so many years, but this was his first time here.
After parking the car, Leo followed Renee to the traditional medicine clinic she mentioned.
When he saw the rundown storefront of the clinic, he felt the contrast was too stark. In his view, Azure Financial, a powerful company, wouldn’t have chosen to collaborate with him to open a clinic here.
This place would be perfect for shooting a horror movie, especially at night.
Moreover, inside the traditional medicine clinic, it was even more deserted. Only three or five weak and ailing individuals sat inside, their eyes devoid of spirit.
Even when a handsome couple entered, the people inside only displayed a fleeting curiosity before ignoring them.
Renee turned to look around, not seeing the person she was looking for. She then asked an old man beside her, “Excuse me, sir. Is Dr. Davy here?”
The old man glanced at Renee and replied, “Dr. Davy is taking care of his daughter inside. He’ll be out in a moment. If you’re here for treatment, please wait.”
“Okay, thank you,” Renee thanked the old man and led Leo to a chair on the side.
“You seem quite familiar with this place?” Leo curiously asked.
Renee nodded, “When I was a child, my father would bring me here whenever I got sick. This clinic used to be well-known in Langstel. Didn’t you know?”
“I’ve never heard of it, and when I was outside, I didn’t see a sign for this clinic either.”
“Since its opening, this clinic has never displayed a sign or had a name. It’s been around for over 120 years.”
“Over a hundred years? A clinic without a name?” Leo’s curiosity grew stronger. He guessed that the founder of this clinic must have been quite extraordinary.
“In the ’80s and ’90s of the last century, this clinic was famous in Langstel. However, with the advancement of modern medical technology and a change in Dr. Davy’s family circumstances, the clinic declined.”
“What happened?”
“Originally, Dr. Davy had a son and a daughter. Ten years ago, while he was out offering free medical consultations with his children, they had a car accident. His son died on the spot, and his daughter was left with lifelong disabilities. This became Dr. Davy’s incurable heartache, making him disheartened with everything.”
Leo sighed inwardly.
“Did you bring me here today to buy this clinic?”
“It’s not just me buying it. It’s Azure Financial and you jointly investing to buy it,” Renee corrected Leo’s phrasing.
“Will Dr. Davy sell it?”
Though the clinic was desolate, it had been passed down for generations. Leo suspected Dr. Davy wouldn’t easily part with it.
“In the past, Dr. Davy wouldn’t have sold it. But recently, a foreign hospital released new medical research results. Dr. Davy intends to sell the clinic because of it.”
