Chapter 70: Rising to the Challenge

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Just as the opposing goalkeeper was picking up the ball, suddenly over a dozen unfriendly-looking men rushed onto the soccer field.
“Everyone, disperse! Mr. Grey has rented out this place!” one of the men shouted.
“Who are you? We’ve paid for the rental fee, why do you come and grab it?” one of the female soccer players challenged coldly.
The man walked up to the female player and took out a stack of money, throwing it on the ground. “With this, if you don’t get lost, don’t blame us for being rude!”
“Kid, show some respect. Where’s Carey Grey? Call him over,” a muscular female soccer player stepped forward, looking down at the man.
The man felt a little intimidated since this woman was so strong and much taller than him.
“Who are you? Do you think you can call Mr. Grey’s name like that?” the man mustered up some courage to challenge.
Without a word, the sturdy woman kicked him.
The man rolled on the ground, then struggled to get up, pointing at the muscular woman and shouting, “Wait and see when Mr. Grey gets here, he will not spare you any mercy!”
Carey finally walked onto the soccer field from the entrance.
He was elegant, wearing sunglasses, and a sleek black windbreaker. He was madly in love, holding a bouquet of roses in his hand. His gaze was focused solely on one direction on the field.
Carey stepped toward his goddess.
“Mr. Grey, it’s this woman who kicked me!” the man who had been kicked pointed at the sturdy woman.
Carey gave him a cold stare, then a guy following Carey kicked the complainer to the ground.
“Why did you kick me, Mr. Grey?” The man looked even more aggrieved.
“You must be new here, don’t you have eyes? You don’t even recognize Mr. Grey’s woman?” the guy following Carey said.
“Mr. Grey’s woman…” The man clutched his stomach, looking up at the woman who was like a mountain, his expression quite comical.
Carey knelt down in front of the sturdy woman, offering the bouquet of roses with a deep, affectionate look. “Miranda, please accept my love.”
Miranda, the sturdy woman, slapped away the bouquet of roses angrily. “Carey, why did you send so many people here to occupy our field? What’s the meaning of this?”
The roses fell to the ground, but Carey wasn’t upset. He got up from the ground with a smile and said, “Miranda, it’s all a misunderstanding. We came here just to teach someone a lesson. Whoever dares to occupy your field is looking for trouble with me!”
Carey pointed at the people around him with a domineering expression. “Anybody trying to take over the field?”
Everyone looked at each other in silence.
“You see, it’s all just a misunderstanding.” Carey looked back at Miranda, and his face instantly regained a smile.
“Miranda, you know my feelings for you. I just want to be with you in the lifetime. Will you be my girlfriend?” Carey looked deeply affectionate.
On the side, Leo curiously watched all this, surprised that Carey had such a strong preference for full-figured women. However, he had to admit that Miranda’s face was pretty, and if she lost weight, she could still be considered beautiful.
Seeing that things seemed to be going off track, one of Carey’s men quickly reminded him in a low voice, “Carey, we’re here to teach a guy named Leo a lesson.”
“I know!” Carey retorted unhappily, still looking at Miranda with affection.
But Miranda’s expression didn’t change much. She said calmly, “Carey, I’ve told you before, we’re not suitable for each other. What do you like about me? I can change all that.”
Carey looked stubborn. “Miranda, even if you reject me ten thousand times, I won’t give up. I swear, this lifetime I’ll marry no one but you!”
Honestly, Carey had confessed to Miranda over ten times at this soccer field, and she was getting tired of it. Her eyes glanced around and came up with an idea.
“Carey, you should give up already. I have someone I like now,” Miranda said.
“Who!?” Carey’s gaze turned cold immediately.
Miranda turned to glance, seeing only women around. She couldn’t say she liked girls.
Then, Miranda’s eyes fell on Leo.
It’s him!
Miranda pointed at Leo. “It’s him!”
Carey followed her finger to a completely unfamiliar face. “Who’s this guy?”
“His name is Leo! That’s what Nicola calls him.”
Leo almost fell over when he heard their conversation.
What the hell? When did he become a professional scapegoat?
“Leo!” Carey’s fists clenched, and today they came to teach this guy Leo a lesson. He never expected that this guy would dare to compete with him for a woman.
Carey’s henchmen glanced at each other, trying not to laugh at the situation.
They initially thought Carey had unique tastes, but they didn’t expect someone with the same preferences to appear.
Nicola on the side couldn’t help but almost burst into laughter, especially when she saw Leo’s red face, finding it even funnier.
With a dark expression, Carey walked step by step towards Leo.
“You’re Leo?”
Leo nodded. “Yes.”
“I’m Carey!” Carey said as his henchmen closed in, waiting for his signal to attack Leo together.
Carey shook his head at his henchmen, indicating them not to act rashly. Since Leo was his love rival, he had to defeat him elegantly. Beating him up in front of Miranda would tarnish his image and leave her with a bad impression.
Carey was not an ordinary person; he was from the Flying Dragon Business Association. Ten years ago, he began to practice a special internal martial art, making him incredibly strong, especially in his legs. It was no exaggeration to say that Carey could kick a cow to death.
So in his eyes, dealing with Leo was no different than squashing an ant.
But using direct violence seemed too boring.
Carey had taste.
Carey looked Leo up and down, smiling, “Leo, I have to admit, this women’s soccer uniform fits you quite well. You’re the goalkeeper, right?”
Leo didn’t say anything; he was considering whether or not to kick the guy in front of him, who was already annoying him.
Leo’s expression made Carey think he was afraid, so the smile on his face became even broader. “You dare to pursue Miranda, the second person besides me. You’ve got guts, so I want to challenge you!”
