To Leo’s surprise, Sophia showed no intense reaction and calmly finished her food before replying, “You finally have the courage to say these words.”
“What do you mean?” Leo asked.
“Actually, you’ve had this idea in your heart for a long time, haven’t you? You just didn’t dare to say it.” Sophia looked at Leo as if she could see through him.
Indeed, two years ago, Leo had this idea in his heart. He was fed up with the Henley family treating him like a servant.
“So, what do you mean?” Leo asked cautiously.
Sophia shrugged indifferently and said, “I don’t mind, as long as my mother agrees.”
“Your mother…” Leo’s heart tightened; his mother-in-law was not someone to mess with.
“Young man, you better work hard. Once you win over your mother-in-law, you’ll be free,” Sophia cheered herself on, but strangely, Leo felt a sense of loss inside.
He had thought that when he said the word “divorce,” Sophia would be furious and start a big argument. He never expected her to react so calmly and nonchalantly. It seemed like he held no importance in her heart at all. The sorrow of marriage could not be worse than this.
Leo could only vent his frustration on the food.
Seeing Leo’s sulky appearance, Sophia couldn’t help but smile. In her heart, she thought, “You dare to play this game with me? You’re not experienced enough.”
“Miss, hello.” A waiter approached them, holding a tray with a glass of wine. “Mr. Donne invites you to have a drink.”
Without waiting for Sophia’s response, the waiter placed the wine on their table.
Sophia turned her head to scan the restaurant and saw a decently dressed man smiling at her from a table near the window. There were also two women and another man with playful expressions looking in her direction.
“Waiter,” Sophia called the departing waiter, “take this glass of wine back to wherever it came from.”
The waiter’s expression stiffened for a moment. “I’m sorry, but Mr. Donne requested that the wine be served to you. I hope you won’t give me a hard time.”
“Is that so?” Sophia smiled and, right in front of the waiter, poured the wine into the restaurant’s trash bin. “Since no one wants this glass of wine, I’ll just pour it away.”
The waiter had served wine for Mr. Donne several times before, and almost every woman would gladly accept it. After all, who wouldn’t like a young, wealthy man? He never expected someone like Sophia to reject it so rudely.
Feeling awkward, the waiter stood there for a moment.
Leo kept eating, acting like it had nothing to do with him.
Sophia couldn’t help but glance at him. He seemed still a bit cowardly.
“Miss, let me be frank. Mr. Donne wants to be friends with you, which is something many women dream of. You’re not being very considerate by rejecting him like this,” the waiter tried to reason with Sophia, ignoring Leo entirely.
“Disappear from my sight right now, or I’ll complain about you!” Sophia was fed up with being disturbed during her meal.
“Your companion here is nothing compared to Mr. Donne. You’ll regret rejecting him today!” the waiter continued.
“Get lost!” Sophia raised her plate.
“Miss, stop pretending…” The waiter attempted to lecture her, shamelessly persistent.
Sophia had had enough and threw the plate at him.
The waiter reacted quickly, and the plate fell next to him, breaking into pieces.
Now, almost all eyes in the restaurant were on them.
Diners began to whisper and point.
“The guy sitting across from that beauty is a coward. His companion is being disturbed, and he doesn’t even dare say a word.”
“Look at him, he’s probably a freeloader.”
“No wonder he’s a freeloader. He can’t even handle something like this.”
The gossip and discussions in the restaurant were unbearable. Sophia lost her appetite and was about to tell Leo to leave when Gerald Donne walked over with a smile.
He was quite pleased with the scene he had stirred up.
His three friends also stood up from their chairs, eagerly anticipating Gerald’s performance.
“It’s thrilling to snatch someone’s woman in front of him,” one friend said.
“As long as Gerald has set his eyes on a woman, she probably won’t escape his grasp,” another added.
“Nowadays, women can be easily won over with money,” the third friend chimed in.
The waiter quickly stepped aside, expecting Gerald to perform his usual show.
“Hello, I’m Gerald Donne.” Gerald flashed a smile at Sophia, thinking it was very charming. “From the moment you walked in, I noticed you. Your beauty captivated me. Can we be friends?”
Hearing this, Leo had the urge to vomit.
Sophia completely ignored Gerald and coldly said to Leo, “Have you finished eating? Let’s go.”
“I say, miss, this restaurant belongs to Mr. Donne. He took the initiative to get to know you because he thinks highly of you. Why don’t you appreciate that?” The waiter was now hoping Gerald would take her.
“Go away, there’s no place for you to speak,” Gerald sneered at the waiter and then turned his gaze towards Leo, who had put down his fork. “Bro, I really like your woman. Finish your meal and then get lost!”
Gerald’s three friends joined in, amused by Gerald’s dominant behavior.
“Yup, Gerald is so commanding. That guy over there can’t even muster a response.”
“Beauty, just follow Mr. Donne, I guarantee he won’t treat you badly.”
Leo seemed to ignore their words, casually wiping his mouth with a napkin, then slowly standing up from his chair.
“Did you just talk to me?” Leo looked at Gerald and asked.
“No, I was talking to a pig,” Gerald replied, causing laughter among the onlookers.
Leo remained composed, a cold smile forming on his lips. “Now I’ll give you a choice: either kneel down and apologize, or you’ll have a hard time.”
He had completely transformed into a different person!
