As the dagger trembled at a high frequency, the blood-red color on its surface receded like a tide.
Leo’s grip on the dagger loosened, and it slipped from his hand, floating in mid-air before him.
The blood-red hue had completely vanished, leaving the dagger looking like a colorless, transparent piece of glass in the shape of a blade.
Leo’s eyes remained fixed on the dagger, waiting to see what would happen next.
Suddenly, the mysterious runes on the dagger lit up, emitting a purple glow.
The glow wasn’t dazzling, and Leo could clearly see the changes in the runes on the dagger’s surface.
The purple light soon enveloped Leo, and a profound feeling arose within him.
Instinctively, under this mysterious atmosphere, Leo attempted to control the dagger with his consciousness.
Suddenly, his mind shook, and everything before him became blurry. Then, he felt as if he was ascending or descending in an endless void.
After an unknown amount of time, Leo abruptly opened his eyes.
He was still sitting cross-legged on the bed, and the dagger was no longer floating in the air but lay quietly in his left hand.
Now the dagger had lost all traces of blood, turning completely purple, and there were two ancient characters appearing on the hilt, seemingly spelling out “Purple Radiance.”
“Purple Radiance? That must be the name of this dagger,” Leo murmured.
At this moment, Leo felt a strange sensation. It seemed like he could control the dagger effortlessly.
Thinking so, Leo tested it out.
With just a slight thought, the Purple Radiance dagger flew from his hand.
“Haha, it’s a spiritual weapon! I hit the jackpot!” Leo was excited, just like a child who had obtained their long-awaited favorite toy. He began to control the dagger to fly around the room in various postures according to his wishes.
The feeling of being able to control an object was truly incredible.
However, after playing with it for a while, Leo quickly called back the dagger, and then his expression turned bitter.
Playing around… had consumed a lot of spiritual power.
Leo suddenly remembered the old weird man’s words during their phone call: energy conservation, the unchanging law of the universe.
Indeed, there were no perpetual motion machines in this world; he couldn’t just control the Purple Radiance dagger with his mind alone. It also required the consumption of spiritual power.
Placing the Purple Radiance dagger and the bracelet on the bedside table, Leo yawned deeply. His priority now was to get a good night’s sleep.
The next morning, Leo was sleeping soundly when the phone rang, interrupting his rest.
Reaching for the phone on the bedside table, he brought it to his ear.
“Hello?”
“Is this Mr. Leo Bloomer?” It was a woman’s voice, with a crying tone.
“Who’s this?”
“I’m Renee Browne, Anna’s mother.”
“Oh, it’s you. What’s the matter?” Leo recalled who she was.
The woman suddenly burst into tears, “Anna is in critical condition at the hospital. I beg you to save her…”
“Which hospital? I’ll come over now.”
Then Renee told him the address.
Just like a life-or-death situation, Leo got up without any drowsiness. As he expected, the girl’s condition worsened after the hospital’s full efforts last night. It seemed like the hospital was helpless in dealing with the little girl’s condition.
Though Leo was no saint, he didn’t want to see a young life perish like this. Besides, he had used the Nine Revolutions Resurrection Needle on her last night. It would be a waste of his efforts if he let go and did nothing now.
Quickly washing up and getting dressed, he rushed downstairs.
In the hall downstairs, Leo saw Sophia, who seemed ready to go out as well.
“Leo, why are you up so early? Going out?” Sophia asked.
Leo nodded, saying three words, “Saving someone.”
Seeing Leo disappear out of the gate, Sophia frowned for a moment, then followed him outside.
Once outside, Leo hailed a taxi.
“Wait!” Sophia’s voice suddenly came from behind.
Leo turned around, “Are you coming to the hospital with me?”
“What’s wrong? Can’t I?” Sophia said, not caring if Leo agreed or not, she directly opened the car door and got in.
Helpless, Leo also got in, telling the driver the address.
“How’s that little girl named Anna doing?” Sophia asked.
“She’s in critical condition,” Leo answered.
“Do you have a way to save her?”
“I’ll do what I can; the rest is up to fate.”
An hour later, Leo and Sophia arrived at the Third Floor of the hospital.
Outside the emergency room, they saw Anna’s mother, Renee.
Renee’s hair was disheveled, her face haggard, and her spirit was low. She looked pitiful.
What surprised Leo was that there were seven or eight men standing around Renee. They stood straight and tall, with stern expressions on their faces, clearly not ordinary people.
From this, Leo could infer that Renee’s identity was probably not as simple as it seemed.
“Ms. Browne,” Leo walked over directly, “How is your daughter’s condition now?”
Renee, who was absent-mindedly leaning against the back of the chair, suddenly looked up. Her eyes, once dull, immediately brightened as she said excitedly, “Mr. Bloomer, you’re finally here. Please save my daughter.”
She seemed on the verge of kneeling before Leo, but he quickly held her up.
The men guarding Renee were indifferent and showed no change in their expressions. Their task was to make sure she wouldn’t suicide.
“Renee, don’t worry. I’m here to save Anna today. How is her condition now?”
Leo asked.
“It’s not looking good. The doctors at the hospital did their best to save her last night, but so far, Anna is still unconscious, and her vital signs are getting weaker…” Renee said, tears streaming down her face.
“It’s all my fault. It’s all my fault! Anna had symptoms of vomiting blood yesterday, and I rushed to take her to the hospital… If I hadn’t run a red light to save time, she wouldn’t be in this situation!” Renee’s expression was full of remorse.
Leo comforted her a few words and then looked toward the ICU ward, asking, “Can I go in now?”
“Of course, you can. Yesterday, you brought Anna back from the brink of death. Today, I believe you can save her again. Please, if you can cure Anna, I will definitely repay you.” Renee immediately opened the door to the ICU ward.
