After they returned and cut the stones, Leo couldn’t wait to see the look of astonishment on Coral’s face.
In the evening, as the sun began to set, fiery clouds adorned the sky, and the lively stone gambling event was coming to an end.
At exactly six p. m., the organizers of the stone gambling festival provided a sumptuous buffet dinner in the auction hall.
The chairs were removed, and the massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling illuminated the hall with a dreamy glow.
The buffet included various cuisines, along with expensive red wine.
The hall was filled with people in groups, eating, talking, and many business decisions were being made over glasses of wine.
After dinner, the night slowly spread over the land. The moon was bright tonight, but it wasn’t full, appearing like a curved boat hanging in the sky.
Leo and the other two girls headed to the parking lot.
As Leo didn’t drink, he took the wheel of the Land Rover.
Nicola’s car was a Porsche sports car.
Leo was about to start the car when he casually glanced at the right side.
Coral was leaning comfortably against the passenger seat. During dinner, she had consumed quite a bit of red wine, so her face was slightly flushed. Her natural beauty combined with her slight tipsiness added a touch of enchantment.
For some reason, Leo felt his heart racing.
“Do I look good?” a soft voice echoed in the car.
“Beautiful,” Leo blurted out in response, then quickly realized what he said and felt a bit embarrassed. He hurriedly started the car.
Leo stepped on the gas, and the Land Rover left the parking lot with the Porsche trailing behind.
Meanwhile, on the third floor of a villa, Antony held a glass of red wine, looking through the enormous French windows at the departing Land Rover and Porsche.
“Is everything ready?” Antony asked.
Jim replied, “Rest assured, everything is in place.”
“Go then, retrieve what belongs to me. Also, I don’t want to see him hopping around anymore; turn him into a cripple,” a chilling glint flickered in Antony’s eyes.
“And what about the two women?” Jim inquired.
“I don’t like using force against women. Leave them be, but make sure they witness how he became a cripple,” Antony said coldly.
As Jim was about to leave, Antony added, “Remember to conceal your identity.”
Hearing the sound of the door closing behind him, Antony downed the rest of his red wine, a cruel smile on his face, “No one can take what belongs to me!”
The Land Rover swiftly drove on the highway, flanked by rice fields. With the car windows open, the distinctive scent of rice permeated the air.
The Porsche, which had been trailing behind, accelerated and pulled alongside the Land Rover. Nicola rolled down her window and shouted, “Leo, why are you driving like a snail?”
After speaking, Nicola accelerated again, surpassing the Land Rover and gradually widening the distance between them.
After she spoke, Nicola accelerated again, overtaking the Land Rover and creating distance between their cars.
Leo shook his head with a wry smile. This girl didn’t understand the saying “Safety first” while driving. Her reckless driving was quite dangerous.
Seeing herself falling further behind due to Nicola’s speeding, Leo couldn’t help but step on the gas pedal.
After a couple of minutes, he saw Nicola’s Porsche again, and it seemed to have come to a stop.
Was Nicola intentionally stopping to wait for him?
As Leo approached, he saw Nicola stepping out of the driver’s seat.
Looking ahead, there was a large truck blocking the road. The driver hadn’t moved it, and it didn’t seem like they were trying to make a U-turn.
Leo parked the car by the side of the road and said to Coral, “Wait in the car, I’ll go take a look.”
After getting out of the car, Leo walked over to Nicola and asked, “What’s going on?”
“Look, there doesn’t seem to be anyone in the truck,” Nicola pointed with her hand.
Just as Leo was about to go check, a man’s voice echoed, “Beautiful lady, who said there’s no one here? Are we ghosts or something?”
As the voice trailed off, more than a dozen men dressed in black emerged from the back of the truck.
They held steel pipes and machetes, wearing ski masks, looking like standard gangsters.
“They are robbers!” Nicola’s face changed.
Coral noticed something was off as well and quickly got out of the car.
At that moment, lights suddenly lit up behind the Land Rover. Two black Mercedes-Benz sedans had arrived.
The current situation was that the truck was blocking the front, and the Mercedes-Benz cars blocked the rear, trapping the Land Rover and Porsche in between.
From the two Mercedes-Benz sedans, eight men dressed in black with ski masks came out, all of them muscular like bodybuilders.
Coral’s heart tightened, and she hurriedly moved closer to Leo and Nicola.
The two women had seen a lot and soon calmed down after a brief panic, their expressions becoming somewhat composed.
“Leo, these people are probably here to rob us of the jadeite,” Coral speculated.
Leo nodded.
The three of them had just left Star Cloud Town, and these guys were already ambushing them. It made no sense if they weren’t here for the jadeite.
Nicola quickly took out her phone, intending to call the police.
A man who seemed to be the leader pointed a flashlight at her and threatened, “Beauty, I advise you not to make that call. We’re only here for money. If you call the police, we might have to harass you a bit. Can you satisfy all our brothers?”
“You, shameless!” Nicola cursed but didn’t dare to make the call. She was afraid these guys would rush forward.
Coral looked at the man who spoke coldly and said, “Do you know who we are? I suggest you make way, or you’ll regret it.”
“Lady, we are people who are living from hand to mouth, struggling to make a living. Do you think we care about your identity? Now, you have two choices,” the man’s voice was deep, “First choice, hand over all the jadeite in the car and give us ten million; second choice, we kill you, then take your jadeite and money. You have ten seconds to decide.”
Leo remained calm, secretly activating his spiritual power into his eyes, then gazed at the man wearing the ski mask.
The face concealed by the mask turned out to be Jim, who had followed Antony around during the day.
“I remember you’re called Jim, right? No wonder Antony lost so easily. He was the one who came up with this plan. He saved face in front of everyone, but then took back what he lost in secret. Truly cunning,” Leo’s voice was cold, but there was no hint of fear in his tone.
