“Can I talk to Dad?” I asked and smiled timidly to my Dad’s secretary.
“I’m sorry ma’am, but Mr. Cervantes is out of the country right now together with your Mom.” she answered sweetly.
I furrowed my brows. They didn’t tell me that they’re going out of the country. After the incident at the party, I haven’t seen them.
“Uh, how about Mr. Echeverrii?”
“Yes, Ma’am. He just got out of the conference room. He’s in his office right now.”
“Okay, thank you.”
I turned around to go to his office when she called me.
“Ah, Ma’am… Mr. President’s office is this way, ” she said in confusion.
I blinked as I let her words sink in. My eyes went to the closed door of Dad’s office and looked at her.
“I’m sorry?” I went to her table again.
She stood up, obviously nervous.
“M-Mr. President is inside…” she mumbled to me.
I didn’t ask for explanation and walked directly to the office.
His head raised from reading some papers when I got insidde.
“What a surprise!” Ellwood stood up and greeted me a kiss on the cheek.
“I am actually surprised too. What are you doing here?!”
I walked pass him and sat in front of his table and raised my eyes to him.
“As you can see, I’m working…” He scrambled to sit across me.
“Working at my Dad’s office?!” I asked.
His forehead creased and his lips lifted. “Yes, Is there a problem?”
I blinked, “No, not really.” I wanted to ask a few things but I stopped.
“Good, so what brings you here?” he asked casually.
“I just came here to visit my dad, but unfortunately he’s out of the country with mom.”
“Yeah, they just left. Tito left me the works here in the office. I may not be able to visit you later because I have a lot of work to finish.” he said in a bit seriousness.
And I nodded.
He leaned against his seat and stared at me. The corner of his lips twitched up, slightly caressing his perfect jaw.
My brows raised. He looks at me like he’s undressing me, not just in my face but my whole body literally.
“What is it, Echeverrii?” I asked in annoyance.
Instead of replying, he quickly pulled his chair close to me. And my back laid against my chair instantly.
“You’re gaining weight, and your baby bump…” He smiled loosely, as if thinking of something.
I gently tapped his cheeks and widened my eyes at him. “So what if I got bigger? That’s not your problem anymore, Echeverrii!”
He pulled his chair more until our knees touched. Damn! I could smell his manly scent, and his breath smells like strawberry.
“I’m just wondering what you will look like having a weighty baby bump…” he said huskily.
“And?” I arched my brows at him.
“And I’m sure, you’ll still look sexy and hot even if you had that baby…” he whispered. His hands raised to caress my tummy.
My face heated up and my stomach churned. I felt the warmth of his hands as he caressed my stomach. Damn! And why does he look so hot, wearing that sexy smile.
I shifted and gasped heavily. “You’re dirty minded!” I slapped his hand and stood up but he quickly stopped my hips.
“What the?!” I groaned.
I couldn’t move when he caged me inside the chair, both his hands on the arm chair. He crouched a bit and watch me intensely.
“How could I finish all my work if you’re here?” His voice was soft and sexy.
I took a deep breath and dropped my gaze to the floor. “I’ll better be going. I’m bothering you a lot…”
He glanced at the table before looking at me again. A soft smile appeared on his plump lips and rakes a hand through his brown hair.
“No, work can wait…”
He stood up and took off his coat. I swallowed as I watched him doing it in front of me. He took off his tie and undid the top button of his shirt and turned his gaze at me.
“Let’s have some lunch together…”
I accepted his offer because I don’t have anything to do. He brought me to his restaurant. This is actually the same beanery that he dropped me in for a dinner with Zuay and Tawin.
“This is yours?!” I said in disbelief.
“You don’t know a lot of things about me. Just because you were busy…” he said meaningfully.
I want him to just start laughing but he’s not. I know he meant something so I accepted it and shrugged.
“So, your order please?” he asks.
“I want some chicken pasta and sweet mashed potato!” I answered.
He nodded and signaled the waiter to say our orders. After a few minutes, our orders arrived.
I glanced his order which was rice and pork belly adobo. I winced, he’s really into carbs. How could he balance his diet if he kept on eating carbs.
“When’s your check up with the doctor?” he asked in the middle of eating.
“Next week.”
“I’ll clear my schedule by next week so I could accompany you.” he said.
“No, thanks! I know you’re busy with work and I heard the news. Are you the new CEO of Rising Stone abroad?”
He stopped eating and sipped from his glass of water.
My eyes went to my food and played with it. “And you are now the new President of Cervantes Corp. How did that happened, huh?” My eyes went back to him who was already staring at me seriously.
He dropped his spoon and leaned against his chair.
“Just so you know, our wedding is still gonna happen. Tito Adriano trusts me and I don’t want to break it.”
My jaw nearly dropped as his words blared in my head.
“Are you for real?!” I can’t help but to raise my voice.
His lips twitched a bit, liking the reaction in my face.
“The decision is not on me. I won’t force you if you don’t want to. I’m just here, waiting for you…” He then winked at me.
I thought everything was clear between us. We can still be friends after all, but how will that happen if he has other plans for us?
“Are you sure about this?” I questioned confusingly.
He only gave me a nod and continued his food. I really don’t know the purpose of the wedding they want for us. Is it all about the money? I shook my head and quickly finished my food.
After he drove me back to the company, I got in my car and went home to the Villa. My mind was completely blank at the moment. Nothing was in my mind but Ellwood’s words. My head was hurting because of the never-ending problems coming my way.
“Ate!” Trina’s pale face welcomed me at the gate.
“Oh, why? What happened?”
“Y-you have a visitor, it’s uh… you know? She said, unable to finish her sentence.
I sighted a familiar car at the other side of the road, I couldn’t be mistaken. It’s Hezekiah’s.
“Open the gate. ” I ordered.
She quickly obliged so I parked my car inside the garage. I immediately got off the car and entered the house.
“I said he should wait for you to arrive but he insisted on coming in,” she said shakily.
“It’s fine, Trina. Please go upstairs. I’ll take care of this.” I said lowly.
“Okay!” She ran upstairs.
And my eyes darted to him. He stood from his seat while both hands inserted in his pants pocket. He look fascinatingly gorgeous as ever, from his chocolate hair to a pair of soul piercing dark eyes and straight nose. The sculpted face that I wanted to touch at this very moment and those glorifying plump lips that ready for a kiss.
My eyes quickly went to the bag pack beside him.
I shook my head and made my way to the kitchen for a cold water. I caught my breath after a drank a glass.
I tiredly sat on one of the chairs. I raked my hand through my hair, trying to relieve myself and control my nerves. I know he was following me so I raised my head to throw him a glare.
