CHAPTER 95 LUNCH

Book:Two Wives Published:2024-5-1

I slightly opened the gate and my lips dropped open when I noticed a familiar build standing right in front of me.
We exchanged looks for about a second, until my phone rang in my pocket.
I blinked and quickly answered the phone.
“H-Hello?!” I stuttered.
“Hi! How are you there?”
My head raised to him before answering back.
“I’m… fine. You? When will you go back?”
“Hmm, do you already miss me?” Ellwood said delightfully.
I can’t believe you but to put out a smile.
“Of course not…” I murmured.
I noticed his stares went to my lose white shirt at cotton short. He glanced up at me and his eyes darkened.
“Alright, I’m just checking you out. We’re here at Batangas port. I’ll be busy in a few hours so I called you.”
“Uh, okay…” I murmured again. I averted my eyes.
“Hey, are you okay there?” Ellwood asked in a serious tone.
“No, I’m fine…”
“Good, I will call you again when I fix everything here…” he uttered.
“Okay… Take care.”
I ended the call and slid my phone on my pocket.
“Was that Ellwood?” he asked in a baritone voice.
I pursed my lips. I went out and pull the gate close.
“What are you doing here?” I said coldly. I quickly looked around, trying to sight Alessandra.
“I’m alone.”
I turned my scowl face at him and crossed my arm secretively.
“What brought you here?” I asked apathetically.
“We need to talk.” he answered quickly.
My brows raised and sharpened my glare. “After what happened that night. I think we have nothing to discuss.”
I quickly turned around to enter inside but he immediately stopped me from closing the gate.
“No, we need to talk, Emory!” he insisted .
“What more do you want?! Do you want to slap to me that what I did in your party was embarrassing?! Or do you want me to congratulate you because you’re finally gonna be a father? Which one, huh?!” I squinted my eyes and threw him a disgusted smirk.
He only clenched his jaw. So I pushed the gate to close it, but his massive hand stopped me to do that and eyes telling me to stop too.
In the end, I let go of the gate and left him abruptly. Maybe this is the right time to talk about it. Nothing will happen if we keep on delaying it. Yes I’m scared. I’ve always been scared to know his answers to my questions.
I saw Trina walking down the stairs. Her lips hanged slightly as she looked at something behind me. Regardless of that, she didn’t ask anything.
“Ah, should I leave?” she whispered.
“Okay, take care…”
I went to the kitchen to transfer the Menudo to a bowl.
“You still haven’t forgot the recipe I taught you…”
I closed my eyes and continued transferring it to the bowl. I was holding the seriving spoon tightly in nervousness.
“I’m used to it, I’ve been doing these alone for years,” I said.
I faced him who was leaning on the doorway. His eyes were dark as he watched me.
I turned my back on him and pulled the drawer open. I got two plates and two glasses.
“You want to eat?” I asked.
I faced him and I blushed when I saw him watching me.
“Can I?” he asked.
I didn’t answer. Instead, I went to the refrigerator to get a juice. When I turned around, he was already standing in front of me.
“Let me…” he said in a soothing voice.
I bit down my lip. I tightly held the pitcher but it didn’t stop him from getting it from me with ease.
“Whatever you want…” I tastelessly said and took a seat.
He moved stealthily. He put rice on my plate and juice on my glass.
I raised my brows after I picked uo my spoon. He still stood in front of me, looking like not having plans of eating.
“You can sit even if you won’t eat.” I said with a shrug.
He watched me eat before finally sitting down in front of me. So I made a shift from my seat and ignored his booming presence.
I couldn’t seem to swallow my food because he was staring at me intensely.
“You really love menudo, don’t you?”
I dropped my spoon and wiped my lips with a tissue before glancing at him.
“No, I don’t have any choice. There’s no stock left here so I ordered Trina to buy groceries.”
My eyes went to my food. I would do anything not to meet his eyes. He’s making me so damn conscious. I shouldn’t feel like this.
When I got full, I started cleaning the table up and brought it to the sink.
“Do you want me to help you with those?”
I stopped and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath before facing him.
I looked straight to his eyes. Ignoring my heart beating so loud, the fear in my chest and the trembles of my knees.
“No! I don’t need your help! What are you doing here anyway?!” I said irritably.
He didn’t reply and suddenly caressed my cheek. I didn’t move because if shock.
His eyes wandered around my face. He’s too close so I can hardly breathe.
“I have a lot to say to you. If you give me a chance to explain everything…” he said huskily.
My jaw clenched. I felt my tears forming.
“First of all, I want to apologize for everything…” His soft voice enough to make my heart shuddered.
My tears finally me. The beads of tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Damn…” he cursed sharply.
He quickly cupped my cheeks and wiped my tears.
“Forgive me for forgetting you. Believe me, I didn’t want to forget you…” he said huskily.
“But the pain and misery that you left done are impossible to forget,” I said back.
“Sshh… Don’t say that.” His jaw clenched, disgust evident in his face while jaw clenching hard.
I smiled bitterly. I want to blame him and say all my pain when he was gone but I stopped because I’m already tired. If I kept on blaming everything to him, I’ll also just hurt myself.
He lowered his head to meet my eyes.
“I regret everything I have done to you. I know I don’t deserve to stand in front of you after everything that happened.”
“But please, I want you to listen carefully…”
He let me go and stepped back.
“Alessandra is innocent. She doesn’t know about my past. Marcus was shielding all the information about me. They don’t let her have a chance to know what happened to me.”
“Marcus and I had an agreement. He knows that I remembered some of my past but it was hazy. I agreed to what he wanted because of Alessandra’s heart condition.” he paused, wetting his lips and biting it.
“I left and continued my new life with Alessandra. I went here before with Marcus but I couldn’t recognize anyone…”
I gasped. Mommy was the reason why he couldn’t go back to me. It’s all her fault.
“Even if I want to, I couldn’t. Because of my fucking amnesia!” he said sharply.
He stepped backwards and cowered his head. I heard him sigh a lot of times before raising his head.
“She’s always been there for me. She always did, Emory. She never once made me feel that I’m alone of that I lack something. She never let me feel different and unwanted.”
I can’t stop myself from slapping him. My palm flew everywhere in his body.
He didn’t move and just accepted all my slaps on his face and arms.
