CHAPTER 70 KISSED

Book:Two Wives Published:2024-5-1

Ellie chuckled a bit. He looked up slowly and licked his lips frantically. He slowly moved away from me and stood up to walk out from my room.
I remained absentminde, nothing entering my mind but his attempt to kiss me earlier. What if the kiss actually happened? I think I can’t forgive myself if that happens.
I quickly washed my face and stood up to follow him outside. But before I could even get out of my room, my feet already stiffened.
Gabriel was standing right in front of Ellwood’s half-naked body. His eyes darted on me and gave me a croak glare.
“My fiancée is in deep slumber so she’ll be late for the meeting with your investor,” Ellwood said firmly.
I gulpled because Gabriel’s eyes never left me. His jaw clenched and his dark brown eyes darkened.
I can’t seem to open my lips. My knees were trembling violently. I can feel the intensity of his stare from here, it’s like he’s undressing me with the kind of stare he’s giving me.
“I’m in the conference room, Hunts will take care of you once you’re done doing what you’re doing,” he said at me coldly.
He turned his back on us without any word. I squeezed my eyes shut when the door closed. My shoulders were slumped as my heart ached painfully.
A deep breath escaped my lips while staring at the closed door. Hunts is near beside me, not doing any action unless I order him.
The meeting is already starting and I’m twenty minutes late. It doesn’t look right if I go in there when I don’t have any role in that meeting.
Hunts went away when his phone rang. After a while, I heard his strides walking back.
“Mr. Grant ordered me to take you right to his office. The meeting is about to be dismissed,” Hunts told me.
I nodded absentmindedly. Until now, I still have a hangover from what happened between Ellwood and I earlier. One more thing that’s been bothering me is what Gabriel would think at what he saw.
How he stared at me and how he scanned my body bothered me a lot.
“Please wait for Mr. Grant’s arrival any minute now.”
I nodded at him again. He closed the door behind me, that’s when I felt both agitation and butterflies.
My eyes scanned the dark brown mahogany table in front of me. I furrowed my brows with curiosity. There are folders in there and two empty cups of coffee.
My gaze turned to the couch and my face contorted into a frown. I saw a comforter and a pillow there. There’s also an empty cup and a laptop on a mini table.
Did he spend the night here? How about Alessandra?
Out of curiosity, I sat there and held some papers that was messily placed on the table.
I pursed my lips tightly. There are some classified documents and financial documents here that are named after Hezekiah. With my pounding heart and curiosity, I opened one folder and realized how much money he funded for the shipping yard he’s planning to build.
The last folder I opened made me shocked. I caught myself holding my breath for a moment. My pulse throbbed wildly against my chest.
The door suddenly opened that made me stand up. He stood there, looking so furious. His dark eyes locked with mine until his eyes dropped onto the papers I let go.
He looked away but I caught the storm in his gaze. “Meeting is done, I’ll take a shower first before we go out for a lunch,” he said coldly.
He walked directly to a door and quickly closed it. Even if I can still hear my hear beating in nervousness, I still proceeded on picking up the folder.
Again, I gasped for air while reading its contents. The document clearly stated the expenses and earining of all of Rising Stone’s malls and jewelry shops. Even our minimg company and Rising Stone itself are written in detail.
How did he manage to get a copy of this? These documents are completely confidential. His knowledge of his past isn’t that wide yet for him to get this copies.
I slumped on the couch and gently held my head. Just how wide is his knowledge?
I immediately sat properly when I heard the doorknob clicked. Gabriel got out, wearing the same long sleeve polo shirt but in a different color, well paired with his black slack pants and black derby shoes.
He walked towards me with the same intensity that he wore earlier. His eyes looked dark and furious. His eyes, again, dropped on the papers. He looked away with a clenching jaw.
“Uh, how’s the meeting?” I asked as I force out a small smile.
He fixed the sleeves of his polo instead of answering.
“I had already closed the deal with the investors.”
I nodded and bit my lip. His features darkened, I can’t read his expression as he lowered his head.
“Well, congrats!” I said.
His head lifted, “I need one more approval from Mr. Cheng.” His tone went darker and colder.
He walked out of the room. I gulped as my eyes followed him, eventually, my feet did too.
We were silent as we entered the elevator. We’re the only ones inside the lift, and so I can’t help but to steal a glance at hI’llm beside me.
His hair was still wet from taking a bath. He scented the air with his shower gel and perfume that sent shiver down my spine.
I gasped when his hands went inside his pockets. In just a simple movement, he affects me, and I hate how my body reacts to his small action.
“Did you sleep well last night?” he asked.
He looked at me over his shoulder with brows knitted into a frown. I felt like if I don’t answer correctly, I’ll be in danger with how he stared at me.
“It was fine…” I cleared my throat.
He frowned hard while looking down at me, his perfect sculptured jaws were tightly clenched. He muttered something that I didn’t get.
I pursed my lips. He is already pissed.
He didn’t ask again because the metal door opened. He intertwined his fingers in mine and led me to the door. I wanted to protest but I can’t now that he held my hands tightly.
We walked inside the restaurant where we had dinner last night. He assisted me to a private room.
Table for two? I pointed out when I sae the table he got for us. The waiter quickly gave us the menu to order.
“Uh, are we meeting with Mr. Cheng here?” I asked casually.
“Nope, he’s out of the country right now…” he answered.
I swallowed. I thought we’re having a lunch meeting with Mr. Cheng? So does it mean that we’re alone here? Now?
He leaned onto the couch, anf because our table is round, his legs can’t help but to hit me under, considering his size.
