“Alpha,” Lucas, my Gamma called, bringing me out of my deep thoughts.
I snapped my head at him, accessing him shortly before signalling him to come in.
My heart skipped a beat when he walked into the room. I tried to keep my emotions in check, but my heart won’t stop pounding in anticipation.
I didn’t miss the surprised look on his face as he walked into my room with his mouth slightly ajar.
My room was as messy as hell. It looked like the third world war happened here. Things were scattered everywhere, including broken objects.
He carefully navigated his path, avoiding the broken wine glass on the floor before bowing briefly to me and stopping to watch me.

I shifted uncomfortably on my seat, watching him eagerly to speak.

“Not yet, Alpha, but we are walking on it,” He interrupted, making me sigh deeply.

The rest of his words fell on deaf ears since he wasn’t speaking my language.
The only thing I wanted to hear was that they’d found her.

“Get out of my sight!” I ordered, irritated by his incompetence.
“I am sorry that we haven’t found her yet, but we are working relentlessly. We are not sleeping on this. She is out Luna too,”
Tyson took control at once as he slammed him against the wall. His hands were pinned on Lukas’ neck.
“Working relentlessly on what?!” He asked angrily, “Do you mean she left this place without any of you noticing? And what about the guards? Because I have dozens of guards stationed everywhere to secure this house. Were they on vacation?”
“I’m sorry, Alpha,” He muttered, struggling to swallow.
“Are you saying you are useless and incompetent? What are you my Gamma for?”
“If she could sneak out, does that mean an enemy could also sneak in and out of this Pack without being noticed?” I asked, irritated at his sudden silence.
“Answer me!”
“Alpha, please, hear me out..” He muttered, but my hands pinned him tighter to the wall, restricting his airflow.
“As long as it is not a positive result, I will not hear you out. Now, get out of my office and do your job. Return only when you’ve found her,”
I released him, watching him scurry out of my office like a scared puppy.
“Incompetent fools,” I hissed in anger.
As soon as he shut the door behind him, a growl tore off my throat.

How could I have allowed her escape when she was the only reason I was sane? Even if I didn’t show her, I felt it deep within me.

I need her by my side, regardless of her offense.
Her absence was making me lose it every day.

“Fuck it Kade, that is a flimsy excuse. Just say you never loved her and you were looking for an excuse to get rid of her,”
“I need my mate and I am losing my mind every minute without her. If I don’t see my mate again, I swear by the fucking Moon goddess, I’ll abandon you with your miserable life. You will never hear from me again,” He threatened, pacing about my head.
For the first time, I got scared by Tyson’s threat to leave me.
I wouldn’t be the same without him.
“You know I’m… making an effort…” I stammered, not knowing what to say.
“By sitting, drinking, scattering and throwing your anger at people? You call that making an effort?” He spat in anger.
“What should I do?”
“You brought this upon us, Kade, Fix it! Go out there and join the search party!” He ordered before recoiling back in my head.
I sighed deeply as a sad expression descended on my face.
Everyone was against me. Even Amelia, Jade and Madam Dora… Now, Tyson?
What did I do wrong?
It was a normal thing to despise someone close to the person that wiped your family.
If she was someone close to watching all this drama, she should stop.

The door opened to reveal Silvius who walked in with Amelia.
There was something off about them.
Why was he holding her by her arm like she was some… slave.
“That is the Alpha’s sister, show some respect!” I barked, flashing my eyes at him.
“I’m sorry, Alpha,” He apologized, releasing his grip off her arm.
“What?”
“About your mate’s disappearance… Amelia has a clue,”

“I overheard Amelia soliloquizing even if I’m very sure that she wasn’t alone in the room,” He shot her his blazing gaze before looking at me, “Amelia here saw her escape and she didn’t do anything about it,”
I walked toward Amelia who stood confidently before me.
“Is that true?” I asked but I was met with silence.
It was true.
Amelia knew the pain I was going through but she chose to shut her mouth.
Anger rose in me… but then I remembered, it was my sister.
The only family I had.
I didn’t want to lose her too.
“Why? Amy?”
“Because she deserves better,” She said, firing me with her words, “And I was sure she is in a better place since you hated her, forgetting what she had done for us and what you two shared,”
I was tempted to ask more questions, but then I remembered… time was ticking fast.
I knew she didn’t do it alone. She had an accomplice.
But there was no time to ask questions or investigate.
I need to find Esmeralda fast.
“When all this is settled, I’ll come for you, but first, where did she go?” I asked, my heart wouldn’t stop racing.
Tyson wouldn’t stop howling.
“She said she would go to the human world. To live in her mum’s old house. But I support it as long as she is somewhere far away from you,” She hissed.
I was about to heave a sigh of relief when it dawned on me.

“I don’t think she is in the human world or she is safe,”
“Why? That was where she said she was going,” Amelia said.
“You told her to contact you after she has settled, right?” I asked.
“Yes,” Amelia replied, her face screaming she had no clue what was happening.
“Has she contacted you that she is safe?”
“Oh my God, no,” Amelia screamed in horror and her body started to tremble in fear.
“She is not in the human world and she is not safe,” I broke the truth.
“I think I know where she was. In order to get to the human world, you have to cross Aphelion’s Pack borders. But you can’t get past those crazy hunters. They are everywhere and they are skilfully trained,”
“She must be there,”
I tilted my head to Silvius who was already breathless in anger.
“Gather the strongest men. Only the strongest and most skilful. I need a lot of warriors and hunters. We are waging war against Aphelion!”
“I need our prisoner too. The spy he sent to us,”
I had to be careful because that bastard will use Esmeralda as bait and he will have thrice of his men stationed everywhere to get me.
He knew I would come for her.
But whatever it was…
I wasn’t leaving the Dark Moon Pack without my mate.
Heads will roll and Aphelion’s head would be one of them!
