Kade
I didn’t know what to feel.
My head was blank. I didn’t know what to do or how to react.
One part of me wanted to let go of it, of everything, but the other…
It raged like an angry storm ready to destroy whatever appeared at its sight.
And if care was not taken, the other raise of me would win.
A thin line was responsible for keeping me in check. I hope the line doesn’t cut.
For days, I’ve been buried in alcohol and smoking.
I didn’t know what to do.
I was a total mess. My daily routine was to wake, think, drink, smoke, think…
Food was the last thing on my mind… And sleep. I was sure I would have lost a bit of weight. But that was my least concern.
All my life, I had been waiting for this day, but I didn’t expect it to turn out like this.
Why was she even involved in it?
She ruined everything.
When I thought everything was perfect. When I thought my whole life was beginning to make sense, especially with my mate by my side, the past came to read its ugly head.
I could have let bygones be bygones and moved on, but this was too much to bear.
I have always thought I could handle everything that life throws at me, but this one…
I felt like the world crashed on me with its heavyweight and I was crumbling gradually.
One wrong hasty decision will result in consequences.
But I was too broken to think.
I needed someone to talk to, someone to direct me… but there was none.
My Beta wasn’t the best man as he wouldn’t stop covering for Esmeralda… Even after what her family did to me!
Stinging tears ran down freely from my eyes at the thought of my horrible past.
Emotions filled me and It was like my heart was about to burst open.
Staring down at my tears, anger filled me.
I couldn’t even remember the last time I cried.
Nothing had made me cry all my life except my father’s punishments. And nothing has hurt me badly all my life.
I let out a growl, kicking everything beside me.
I needed to let my anger out on something. Maybe on someone before I lose it.
Maybe I needed to punish myself.
I deserved it for falling for the wrong person.
Anyone, but Esmeralda.
To even crown it, she is my mate.
How does the Moon goddess want me to cope with this?
I took another shot, squeezing and shutting my eyes as the alcohol ran freely down my oesophagus, leaving a burning sensation down to my chest.
Even if it doesn’t help, I will continue drinking.
I didn’t care if I drank myself into a stupor.
I was about to take another shot when voices echoed outside my room. It was like two people were arguing.
Was it my imagination?
Certainly, my hearing hasn’t gone bad.
The argument grew louder and in a flash of light, my doors flung open and Esmeralda ran into my room before Silvius could stop her.
“I told you that he doesn’t want to… Fuck!” Silvius groaned, keeping his gaze on the floor as I threw him a look.
He messed up.
“Is she too big that you can’t handle?” I demanded, breathing hard as anger took over my senses.
“I’m sorry, Alpha,” He apologized, his eyes still on the floor.
“Get her out of here!” I ordered, avoiding Esmeralda’s eye contact and moving away from her.
After uncovering the secret, I couldn’t look her in the eye again.
“What? Kade? I just got here and you are ordering our Beta to throw me out,” She cried.
I could feel pain growing inside of her, but it couldn’t be compared to what I felt.
She was hurting.
But I was hurting more.
“Firstly, he is my Beta and most importantly, it is now Alpha for you,” I spat in rage.
“Since when did this attitude develop? Before you left for the Crescent Moon Pack, you were not like this,”
“Since the day I learnt that Lucy almost wiped out my entire family!” I yelled, I could hear the rage in my voice.
It kept growing and I couldn’t control it.
“And how is that supposed to be my business? It doesn’t concern me!” She yelled bitterly, stamping her feet on the floor.
My eyes darkened in anger as my eyes shone blazing green, “It does concern you because Lucy is your distant cousin,” I spilt, watching her face crease in confusion.
She chuckled, “Stop this madness, Kade…”
I saw red the moment my name left her lips without my title. How dare she?!
It’s high time I stopped being lenient.
My hands grabbed her collar as I flung her against the wall, pinning her on the wall as she was covered in fright.
“Who the hell is performing madness with you?” I demanded angrily, emphasizing every word that left my lips.
“I’m sorry,” She coughed, struggling to catch her breath as my hands tightened on her collar.
“Kade, please,” Tyson whimpered when he felt Esmeralda’s pain, “She is hurting badly,”
“Shut up, Tyson!” I yelled, blocking him immediately.
I wasn’t in for any distractions.
“It’s just that this Lucy you keep mentioning… I don’t know her,” She blurted and I could sense the truth in her statement, but I was consumed by my own rage.
“I don’t care if you know Lucy or not, all I care about is that she killed my family, caused a massacre in this Pack, ruined everything…” I stopped to catch my breath.
“She killed my sister, Ava, killed the brother that was supposed to be the Alpha, made Amelia trapped in her head for many years and she left me for dead,”
“You see, just like the way you are an Omega, she was an Omega. She snaked her way into this Pack with a mission. Her mate was my elder brother and despite the low status, he chose to stay with her. But she didn’t have his interest at heart, she had her master’s interest instead,”
“After making us comfortable with her, she stuck us. The blow can still be felt each time I remember how my family was murdered before my eyes while I was fastened on a chair with silver chains that were laced with wolfsbane. I was unable to help my family, to save them,”
I took a deep breath, leaning away from her and looking away.
“Hold your shit together, Kade,” I murmured, blinking several times to stop the tears from flowing.
“This is not making sense. How am I connected to this?” She cried, shaking like a leaf.
“You see, mate, the day she took what I loved the most, I vowed never to stop until I found her and her family and killed them gruesomely, just like the way she killed mine while she watches helplessly. That will be enough to kill her,” I spat. Hatred oozed out of me like a cloud of smoke.
“I’ll make things clear to you. Lucy’s master is Aphelion, the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack, my sworn enemy, she was a slave in his Pack. But when he found out that Lucy was my brother’s mate, after a meeting, he plotted with Lucy to wipe my family so he could take over the Blood Moon Pack. That bitch did it in exchange for her freedom,”
“Unfortunately, she didn’t finish her job because she thought I was dead,” I strode to the table, where my drink was.
My hand clasped the bottle as I gulped down the content.
“But this is not necessary. You can’t hurt me because of some girl I don’t even know. I’m sure she doesn’t know me,” Esmeralda pleaded, struggling with tears.
“But she is family,” I cut in, “And I don’t trust you either because serial killing runs in the family. First, it was Lucy, then Phoebe, your psycho half-sister,” I sneered before dropping the empty glass on the table and picking up my tobacco, “No wonder the Crescent Moon Pack treats you like a slave,”
“I am not like them. I’m different,” She said in a stern voice, causing me to laugh.
“You are up to no good, Esmeralda,” My hand gripped her chin hard so that my eyes could pin her teary ones, “If the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack sent you to finish what Lucy started, he has failed,”
“Please, Alpha Kade,” She hesitated, “I know nothing about this, you can’t do this to me,” She broke down in tears, clasping her hands on her head.
Nah. I wasn’t going to fall for that.
“She took my family and now is the time for me to take hers. And I will start with you till I wipe out her entire race. I’m sorry mate, but I don’t have a choice,” I closed my eyes briefly, blocking every bit of emotion in me.
“She doesn’t deserve this, Alpha,” Silvius’s voice boomed in my head via mind link.
“I was in pain for many years. It was hard to heal that I even locked Amelia up in the North wing. Lucy took away my happiness, not yours. So shut up and do your bloody job. You don’t tell me what to do,” I warned, sending him a growl.
“Please, Alpha,”
“Lock her up, Silvius,” I ordered, ignoring the gasps that flew in the air.
