Kade
(On their way home from the Crescent Moon Pack)
“Drive!” I ordered, screaming my lungs out like a lunatic with my veins popping out of my neck and head as I downed the glass of tequila in my hand.
How could this happen? When I wanted to make her Luna?!
My hand found my temple, rubbing it slightly before emptying another glass down my throat and giving a loud burp.
My head was blank, my heart was racing, I couldn’t think straight.
It was like a rod was driven through my chest.
It hurts. The truth about Esmeralda hurts but I won’t cry.
After travelling miles to revenge on those that maltreated my mate, instead, I uncovered dark secrets about Esmeralda’s family’s past.
Fuck!
It was too much for me. I could feel tears stinging my eyes.
But I won’t cry.
I grabbed the bottle of tequila, gulping the content hungrily before letting it go.
I wasn’t drunk.
“Alpha, please,” Silvius pleaded, glancing at me through the mirror before fixing his gaze on the road to continue driving, “You need to…”
“Shut up! I’m not drunk!” I yelled again, attempting to throw the empty glass at him. While he ducked.
“But you’ve been drinking it nonstop since we left the Crescent Moon Pack!” He exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air, before grabbing the wheels again.
“And that isn’t your fucking business. You are even lucky I was not the one to drive. Now do your job and drive!”
“Fuck, Kade! You need to take it easy. Yes, we encountered a big problem, but this is not how to tackle it. Come on, you are the Alpha,” Silvius started.
“Since you know how to tackle it, why don’t you become the Alpha,” I scorned, letting out a loud hiss.
Silvius pisses me off sometimes.
“I’m not saying that. All I’m saying is that if you drink too much, you won’t be in a good state of mind and you might hurt her,”
I cringed when I realized the ‘her’ meant Esmeralda.
She could get hurt for all I care.
I was also hurt.
My sister was hurt.
The Pack was hurt.
At this point, I don’t fucking care.
“You don’t care right?” Silvius blurted as he glanced at me via the mirror and our eyes met.
How did he even fucking know what I was thinking…
“Don’t stress it, I know what you are thinking. You can be unpredictable at times, but when you are drunk, I can read your next move like an open book,” He said before taking his eyes off me and maintaining them on the road.
That was bad.
Father would not approve of that.
I was taught to be unpredictable at all times.
“I know you are in the most confused state of your life right now, Alpha and any rash decisions you take will be detrimental to Luna…”
“She is not my Luna!” I objected sharply, ignoring Tyson’s protest in my head.
“Really, Alpha? Because he said it doesn’t mean it was true. What if everything was made up for you to hate her? You know they all hate her because she was an Omega,”
“No, they all hate her and treated her like trash because she was from the lineage of serial killers,” I corrected quickly, “Blood-sucking demons, terrorists…”
“But it isn’t confirmed yet,” Silvius argued.
“What is not confirmed yet huh, Silvius? The fact that every member of the pack knew that her sister massacred her family and wanted to become some sort of god over them? And in an attempt to stop it from happening because it’s generational, they had her in shackles?” I demanded.
“Or is it Lucy? The fact that she is connected to Lucy. You see, I am not angry at her because of her crazy half-sister, Phoebe. I am more enraged because she is connected to Lucy,” I smirked dangerously before I flung the empty glass at him.
It was so quick that despite glancing at me at intervals, he couldn’t miss the fast speed as it hit his head, causing him pain and drawing blood. While the remnant of the tequila I drank spilt on his injured ad, stinging him.
He deserved it. He deserved more than that.
Except now was not the time for him.
Let’s deal with Esmeralda first.
“What was that for, Alpha?” He growled, wincing in pain as he drove.
“That was for keeping the report about Lucy a secret, knowing she was our most wanted killer. Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you let me learn everything from that loose Alpha’s mouth? Why did you pretend you and your so-called foolish men were working on it for years when you got the answers for a long time?” I asked, unable to control the lava that boiled inside me.
“Fucking answer me, Silvius! Don’t play mute!”
“Because I was saving Esmeralda!”
Really?
“You were saving Esmeralda? Since when did you care about her?”
“It’s not like that, but believe me, I recently saw Lucy and her hiding spot. I wanted to tell you but you came up with this emergency visit to the Crescent Moon Pack,”
“But you knew Esmeralda was related to Lucy…” I said in a dangerously low voice.
“I know. And I know you will be very livid and you might hurt Esmeralda that was the reason I kept mute,”
Stupid.
“What if she turns out to be like her…”
“She won’t. Esmeralda is different, she won’t turn into a power-hungry serial killer like her sister or that selfish Lucy. And I’m sure she doesn’t even know Lucy exists. Please, Alpha. Don’t hurt Esmeralda. She is innocent,”
“Speak for yourself, Silvius. She is from a monstrous family, meaning she is monstrous, but pretending to be innocent. Remember what Lucy did to us. She was an Omega too, just like Esmeralda and I would not fall for that same trick twice, even if she were my mate. What if she came to finish what Lucy started?”
“Esmeralda is different. I mean, I might have suspected that she was a spy from the beginning, but that girl is clean. She has nothing to hide,” Silvius argued stubbornly.
“Then why didn’t she tell me about Phoebe if she didn’t have anything to hide?” I asked, staring deeply into Silvius’ eyes waiting for another argument, but I was met with none.
“Now you’ve gone speechless. You see there is nothing you will tell me. Esmeralda came here to get something, just the way Lucy came here to fulfil her Master’s selfish desires and I won’t let that happen again,” I replied dangerously calmly, slowly sipping another glass of tequila which he obviously disapproved of, but I didn’t care.
“Now drive,” I commanded, using my Alpha tone that made Silvius swing to action.
He isn’t able to stand it when I use my Alpha tone.
No one could.
“But Alpha, please, take it easy with Esmeralda. She is innocent. I can feel it in my guts and you’ve always told me to follow my gut feelings,” He said in surrender, fixing his eyes on the road before starting the engine of the car, “Others might be monsters, but she is not. That girl just needs love, that’s all,”
“Fuck, Silvius!” I gritted my teeth in anger.
I hated it when Silvius didn’t agree with me on something.
Why was he so blind this time?
When did he start caring about Esmeralda?
She was not his business anyway and if there was someone he was supposed to be loyal to, it was me.
“But…”
“One more word, Silvius, and I’ll bury my claws deep inside of you,” I warned, clenching my fist in rage, “Eyes on the road. Get me home quickly. Someone needs to be punished severely,”
