Chapter 83

Book:MATED TO THE BLOOD ALPHA Published:2024-6-3

Esmeralda
His strong aura announced his dreadful presence as it rolled in thick waves.
It was so powerful, but it couldn’t be compared to Alpha Kade’s aura.
Preys cowered away in fear, hiding for their lives as he took measured steps to us, walking with his chin in the air and pinning us with his usual expressionless face.
Even the singing birds sought refuge distance away from us.
What was it with him and keeping his face expressionless?
As if on cue, Jade and I submitted to him, slightly bowing our heads. It didn’t take long before I felt something tapping my head.
Slightly turning my head to have a view of the tapping on my head, my eyes met Jade’s trembling hands.
Great!
It was no news that everyone feared Silvius, people rarely came in contact with him and his presence meant punishment or something worse.
I knew Silvius was many things and I never had a problem with that, but after the night he punished me, I felt indifferent toward him.
I hated him.
Only the Moon goddess knew what he was doing here.
What was our offense this time?
I couldn’t think of anything I did wrong. My brain was blank as a result of fear.
“Why is the Beta coming to us?” Jade managed to speak when she found her voice.
Despite struggling to compose herself, her voice came out like a squeak.
“Did you do something bad?” She asked again before swallowing hard. I could hear her heart thumping.
It was almost deafening.
“No,” I affirmed, racking my brain for answers if I had done anything lately that warranted his Beta’s presence, “Did you?” I asked but she shook her head negatively.
“Then what the fuck is he doing here? I don’t want to fall into his trap so I always try to avoid him…” She murmured, biting her lips to stop the remaining words from pouring.
What could he be here for?
Who could he be here for?
Jade’s heavy breath came out in a rush when Silvius halted before us.
“Beta,” We chorused, bowing our heads in submission.
“Uhm,” He cleared his throat, resting his gaze on mine, “If you don’t mind, I would like to speak with you privately,” His words were sharp and brief. Silvius wasn’t a man of many words.
Speak with me privately?
What does he want to say?
Did I do something?
“Speak with me privately?” I uttered in disbelief with my gaze still locked on the floor.
My heart raced as a result of several unanswered questions.
Did something happen in the house?
Did Alpha Kade tell him something?
“Yes, I need to see you and it’s urgent, Esmeralda… sorry, I mean, Luna,” He apologized, bowing his head slightly in submission to me.
Luna?
What the fuck?
Was I hearing correctly?
Did Silvius just address me as Luna?
No doubt, Alpha Kade told him.
I could hear Jade’s gasps from behind. I imagined her eyes popping and her mouth wide open with her hand covering it.
The things she does when she is shocked.
“Please, come,” He said, leading me as we took a few steps away from where Jade stood.
“Look, I’m not good at this but I have to do this. I don’t have a choice,” He started.
I could see from the corner of my eyes that he was struggling with words.
What does he want to tell me?
Hope Alpha Kade is alright.
“I know you already know that I know you are the Alpha’s mate, Luna. I just came here to tell you that I am sorry for treating you the way I did. It’s quite unfortunate because I didn’t know you were Luna. It wasn’t my fault. Alpha Kade introduced you as a maid, not as his mate and he never discussed anything about you to me,”
Bring it on, Silvius.
What else could I see?
Was that the look of shame written all over his face?
How I enjoyed this!
“And about the punishment the other night, It wasn’t intentional, I swear by the Moon goddess. I love the Alpha and he is like my brother and I don’t want any harm to happen to him, not even a scratch on his body,”
Really? But he supervised those that injected him with wolfsbane?
What about irony!
This story can’t be more interesting.
“I remembered that day vividly, I warned you against opening the cell that he was in, but you didn’t listen. The Alpha has some issues that triggers him to do things he doesn’t want to do, things that he isn’t aware that he did. I couldn’t explain anything that night. There was no time to explain. Yet I warned you but you disobeyed me. And one thing I hate is to be disobeyed,” He gritted his teeth in irritation.
Same old arrogant Beta Silvius.
“During times like that he isn’t himself. I tried to warn you, but you felt we were harming him. You don’t know anything about him, you are new here. You don’t know how he behaves during times like that. He is extremely dangerous and the wolfsbane was to weaken him because during times like that, he was a monster. I just can’t go into details because I am not in the place to tell you about him,”
Who’s asking? I already know a lot about him.
“I was just mad because you opened the gate. What if he tears you to pieces? What if he had killed us too? Worse of all, the members of the pack? Stop behaving like a hero when you are not one. No offense, but, you are not a hero. You put us at risk that day,”
His words pricked my heart like a stab of sharp knife causing pain to radiate within it.
“But I saved him,” I protested, “I saved the Alpha. I saved everyone,”
“At the risk of your life! You were Just lucky that day. He would have torn you to pieces,”
Was I supposed to be scared by his words?
“Look, I haven’t come here to criticize you, I have come here to apologize for maltreating and laying my hands on the Luna. That was unfortunate. I feel ashamed of myself. But I promise, It will never happen again,” He bowed his head in shame.
Long silence stretched as I stared at Silvius who bowed before me, pleading for my forgiveness.
It was so quick how the table turned.
Karma was definitely a bitch!
All these months, he had always made me feel so afraid, humiliated and belittled.
Now, it was his turn to be afraid, humiliated and belittled.
“You called me many names,” I started, “Many awful names everytime my path crossed with you and you told me many words, many horrible words that made me stain my sheets with tears every night. There was a time you called me a spy, you charged me like a criminal. Like a predator ready to pounce on its prey. You said I wasn’t welcome, I was nothing, nobody,” I whispered dreadfully, savouring how fear stretched its claws on his face.
“I am sorry, Luna. I was ignorant,”
“Ignorance is a disease. You need treatment asap,” I sneered, biting my lips hard to stop laughter.
If someone had told me that the high and mighty Beta Silvius would submit himself before me, I would have laughed at such dumb words. But look at this.
It was so fun seeing Silvius and Vanessa humble themselves before me.
Who knew they could be so humble?
Apart from his arrogance, I could see shame smeared over his face.
I loved that.
Enough of the teasing, Esmeralda.
I cleared my throat, “It’s okay. I understand that it’s all in the past,”
“Yes, Luna,” He interrupted, “I know I hurt you so bad, so bad that apologies won’t be enough. But if you want to punish me, feel free. I know I deserve worst,”
“It’s okay, Silvius. I am not punishing you. You are forgiven. But learn to treat women well, not only women, people in general,” I announced, watching him heave a sigh of relief.
“Thank you very much, Luna,” He said, keeping his face expressionless.
How was I going to know if he was serious about the apology or if he was forced?
Whatever.
“If that’s all, you may leave. Don’t worry about anything, we are good,” I said, patting his shoulder, making him freeze for some seconds.
He didn’t expect that. But there was nothing he could do.
Advantages of being the Luna to the most revered Alpha.
After watching him leave, I turned my gaze to meet Jade who looked like she was about to explode with questions.
Not now, Jade.
Thanks to Silvius.
“So you are the Luna?!” She asked in a scream, “Like Alpha Kade’s mate? The Luna of the Blood Moon Pack?” Her hands found mine, shaking me rigorously in an attempt to get the answers from me.
Oh no!
How would I explain this to her?
