Esmeralda
I stirred in my sleep, unconsciously sniffing the delicious scent that wafted my nose. It was so enthralling that even in my sleep, I salivated.
Unable to control myself as the scent took over my senses, and made my mouth water, I flung my eyes open, allowing my eyes to search the room for the sweet scent that took away my beauty sleep.
Stretching and sitting upright, my nose sniffed the air hungrily again, allowing the seductive scent of sandalwood, citrus and warm honey to rush into my nostrils.
The scent brought calmness within me, relaxing my tense nerves and relieving me of the pain around my wrists and my back.
The pain Beta Silvius inflicted on me the night I freed Alpha Kade.
I could still remember his burning gaze on me and his stinging claws. The way it held my hands in a firm grip that his claws dug through my flesh, bruising it.
A frown descended on my face when I looked at my wrists, I could still see his claws mark on them and dark red patches, but they were fading slowly.
My chest tightened in anger when my back stung me again.
Thanks to that bastard for making me clean the whole floor.
I hated the way he treated me. I wish Alpha Kade could just tell him who I was.
His Luna.
I couldn’t wait to see the horror on his face when he learns the truth.
Would he swallow his pride and apologize to me?
Or would he still be arrogant?
Would Alpha Kade order him to apologize to me?
Urgh!
I shouldn’t let those thoughts bother me and ruin my mood. I was certain that Alpha Kade would never reveal to anyone that I was his mate.
He might be soft and gentle, but he won’t tell anyone I was his mate.
I was a stain on his reputation. He should never be seen with me.
A filthy Omega.
Ouch!
Stop it, Esmeralda, the Alpha is not a bad man. He feels something for you.
A voice said inside me, but I ignored it before it ignited some feelings within me.
He feels something for me because he feels I saved him, which was still a mystery to me.
I never saved him. I only sneaked into his bedroom after I heard him making faint noises. He was struggling in his sleep and from the way he sounded, he was in pain, hopeless and helpless.
Driven by the sad sight, I walked to where he lay, hoping I could help him and within seconds, my eyes started to turn green and my hair turned strawberry.
It was weird.
But that was all I could remember.
“Fuck!” I cursed when my eyes met with a big clock on the wall, “I’m so screwed,” I whined at my lateness.
I hope I don’t get punished, most especially by Beta Silvius since he was still in the house, keeping an eye on Alpha Kade.
A sigh left my throat as I got clad in my annoying maid uniform that clung to my body like a second skin and packed my hair in a ponytail so that it wouldn’t interfere with my cleaning.
I hated this uniform.
But then the faint scent of citrus, sandalwood and honey tickled my nose again, making my eyebrows crease in confusion.
Why was the scent everywhere?
Was Alpha Kade here?
What was he doing here?
Without having answers to my questions, I dashed out of my room to Alpha Kade’s quarters.
Slow down. A voice in my head told me when I approached the dark hallway, but I was too late to care.
“What the fuck?!” Vanessa’s high-pitched voice reigned in the air as I collided with her, “Can’t you see? Is your vision that dim?” She fired, and I could feel a rise of anger in her as she took daring steps toward me. My eyes lowered to the floor to see the items scattered on the floor during the collision.
If only I didn’t run fast.
“I’m talking to you, bitch!” She fired again, gripping my hair so tight that it stung me to the root. “Why are you so clumsy?”
“I’m sorry, Vanessa, I didn’t mean to…” I tried to apologize, but a strange feeling overwhelmed me, stopping the rest of the words from slipping out of my lips.
Why do I let her intimidate me and get away with it?
She was a maid like me for all I care.
Suddenly, a rush of anger and calmness flooded my veins.
“Go on, you didn’t mean to…” She mimicked, pinning me to the wall and tightening her firm grip on my hair.
“First of all, get your filthy hands off me,” I spat, releasing myself from her grip.
“Secondly, you don’t get to call me names,” I said matter-of-factly, “Why are you in Alpha Kade’s quarters? Bitching around as usual? Unfortunately, he never sees you because he doesn’t settle for less,” I gritted my teeth, spinning her unexpectedly and holding up her chin so that she could see my blazing face.
It took all the self-control in me to stop me from ruining her face.
“He doesn’t eat what belongs to the dogs. You belong to the dogs, Vanessa. Bitches like you are a stain on his reputation,” I smirked, watching her eyes bulge in shock.
She wasn’t expecting that.
Frozen in shock, Vanessa couldn’t utter a word. Dumbstruck as she couldn’t digest all that had happened, she watched me take my leave, mouth agape.
If surprise was a person, it would have been Vanessa.
“Don’t forget to pick those up,” I teased, walking away from her in all my glory.
Why do I feel so much excitement after confronting Vanessa?
I had always confronted my bullies, but this one made the confrontation special.
What took away my timidity?
Despite how I felt sorry for her, I couldn’t help the feeling brewing inside me.
I couldn’t deny it. I felt so good.
Now, she will never bully me again. Ever.
Walking into Alpha Kade’s quarters, I hurriedly grabbed the cleaning equipment and half-raced to his room.
I was very late. I hope he wasn’t in the room.
Cleaning whenever he was in the room made me lose concentration. I could always feel his eyes boring into me and it gave me an uncomfortable feeling.
My sweaty hands found the doorknob and I turned it slowly, walking into the room as quietly as a mouse, but my heart sank into my stomach when I saw a figure sitting on a chair, engrossed in his laptop.
The Blood Alpha, Alpha Kade.
Why now, Moon goddess?!
Quietly, I entered the room, shutting the door behind me before submitting to his familiar deadly aura that radiated within him, consuming the room.
Confusion settled in me as I stood for some minutes, contemplating what to do.
I couldn’t clean the room, not when he was around. His presence was a huge distraction to me.
He was still engrossed in whatever he was doing that he didn’t even notice my presence.
Should I leave quietly as I came? And come back when he is gone?
That was it.
Slowly, I turned to the door, my hands touched the cold doorknob once more and I was about to open it.
“Come closer!” He said in an order, making me jump in fright, “Don’t even think about it,”
So he had noticed my presence!
“Alpha,” I gasped, bowing my head in submission as I was lost for words.
“What are you doing with those?” He turned to me sharply, making my heart skip a bit as his stern gaze was fixed on mine.
The aura shifted to a more deadly one.
His anger was evident as he clenched his teeth and balled his fist.
What did I do wrong?
“I said, what are you doing with those?” He asked, his voice louder than before, causing a shiver down my spine.
“I am here to clean as usual,” I said in a whisper when I found my voice.
“Come closer,” He ordered, giving me his full attention.
Was I in trouble?
He wasn’t even smiling. His face was masked and it betrayed no emotion, but I could sense it in his aura.
He was mad.
I took light steps to where he sat, struggling to get hold of my weak legs as they suddenly couldn’t support my body.
Did I forget how to walk?
I was about to take the last step when I stepped on liquid that made me lose balance, making me slip. But before my body could crash on the floor, a pair of hands wrapped my slim waist stopping me from falling. My hands flew to his neck, hugging it as my body pulled closer to his.
I couldn’t help but notice a bulge, hitting me below my stomach and how his hands tightened around my waist each time the bulge came up.
Eat me, Alpha Kade.
