Esmeralda
To say that I was flabbergasted wasn’t enough to justify my feelings as my sight greeted three pups chatting and arguing with each other. That they didn’t smell my presence nor Selene’s presence was the height of it.
The height of negligence!
A smile forced its way through Madam Dora’s shocked face, “You see, they are chatting with each other. That is nice,” Her face might have forcefully brightened up with a smile, but her thinned lips and scrunched nose didn’t fail to show how disgusted she was.
Nice indeed!
What was so interesting in their chats that they didn’t notice the presence of two wolves and a witch? knowing how the scent of witches infuriated wolves!
How incompetent they were!
A wave of displeasure crashed on me, drowning the previous fear I had.
Anger surged through me as their ears turned deaf to Madam Dora’s feet tapping.
I thought werewolves had super hearing. Or were they deaf?
Certainly not. Shutting my eyes tight, I resisted the urge to use my Luna voice.
That was if I had any.
This was negligence at its peak!
What if we were rogues?
What if we came to hurt the Alpha?
Was this how they will chat, ignoring foreign presence?
Certainly, they were terrible housekeepers!
A newly found feeling surged through me, urging me to protect my mate at all costs…
My mate?
The one that had introduced me as a housekeeper instead of his mate and had warned me against revealing my identity?
That wasn’t my mate. That was a monster!
A monster whose name was whispered far and wide, whose presence was a threat to the world, whose heart was the devil’s residence, but I was unfortunate to be mated to him, to Alpha Kade.
I shouldn’t be thinking about him. Not after the pain he had caused me, but I couldn’t help it.
Fuck mate bond!
Forcefully erasing his name from my mind, my gaze swept across the moderately sized room that could pass for a bedroom.
Fine wooden shelves with generous
surface space clung to the wall, retaining toiletries, disinfectants, soaps, hand gloves, and baskets, while Mops and brushes hung on the wall. Vacuum cleaners of different sizes and garbage cans sat at every corner of the room.
It took me no time to recognize it as the storage room where cleaning supplies were kept.
The storage room. The headquartersheadquarter of gossip.
A huge table at the extreme, accommodating three pups who seemed engrossed in their conversation, nodding their headshead and throwing their hands in the air at intervals, oblivious of our presence.
“I don’t care about you guys’ opinion, all I know is Lukas is hotter than Silvius,” A lady said with an air of finality. An unconvincing look plastered on her round face. Her straight caramel brown hair fell over her shoulders, spreading on her back.
A white apron was tied firmly to her black uniform that hugged her curves and rested above her thighs.
I have already met Silvius, but who was Lukas?
Who was she? And why was she dressed like that in my mate’s house?
A loud gasp escaped from another girl’s lips, her eyes stared at the other girl in disbelief, “How dare you say that? That is an insult to Silvius!” Her expression washed and her eyes softened, “I think you are blind. You need to go to the Pack doctor to get a pair of recommended glasses. I feel for you,” She teased, tapping a man beside her playfully.
Despite his withdrawn expression, he seemed interested in their conversation. His restless hands searched several supplies that lined up on the shelves.
Finally! Someone responsible.
“No. You guys are the blind ones to be oblivious to Lukas’s handsome face,” She charged at them, raising an accusing finger.
My gaze hovered over her skimpy uniform which heightened my discomfort.
Her slutty appearance increased my distrust of her.
What was her name? Vanessa? Because only sluts like her answered that name.
“Well, if having a long disfiguring scar on your face makes you the most handsome man, who are we to disagree with you, Vanessa?”
Vanessa!
I guessedI had guessed right.
“Come to think of it, Jade, why is Vanessa suddenly interested in Lukas these days,” He chuckled, hands still searching for supplies.
Jade. Nice name.
“I noticed that too,” Jade smirked, pinning her large eyes on Vanessa’s, “Or are you interested in Lukas too? I thought it was the Alpha,”
“What!” A scream tore from my lips, as jealousy burned my heart, earning me a sharp glare from Madam Dora and Selene. But I was fortunate enough for my voice to be swallowed by Vanessa’s scream.
How dare she!
How dare that bitch have eyes for my mate!
By the Moon goddess, I will pull the artificial lashes that rested on her cheeks and pluck out those eyes.
“Hello!” Madam Dora’s stern voice resonated through the room, commanding attention, “What is wrong with the both of you? And you Bryan, why are you always in the midst of ladies, gossiping?”
Silence enveloped the room as submission poured from the three housekeepers. The cheerful face was replaced with hostility and the soothing voice turned harsh.
“Are you two done with the cleaning?”
“We are almost done,” Jade muttered, fumbling with her fingernails.
“Almost done? And you are chitchatting, debating about who is hot between the Gamma and the Beta,”
So Lukas was the Gamma.
The scar-faced Gamma. Interesting.
Alpha Kade, Beta Silvius and Gamma Lukas. Nice combination.
“How did you know that?” Vanessa gasped, “And why is a witch here?”
“You just noticed that?” We’ve been standing on this spot for five minutes without any of you noticing. That’s bad,” Madam Dora frowned.
“Sorry, Madam Dora,” Jade’s eyes met the floor.
“That aside,” A new smile formed on her lips, “Meet Selene and Esmeralda. They are the new housekeepers. Be nice to them,”
Not again. I scoffed silently.
“Hi,” I waved shyly, ignoring the irritated look on Vanessa’s face.
As much as I ignored the feeling, I knew I would have problems with the Vanessa girl.
“Welcome,” Jade and Bryan replied with bright smiles.
“Selene here will join the others. Instructions from the Alpha,”
“Hi,” Selene’s tiny voice filled the air.
“What? A witch will be joining us?” Vanessa yelled. Her loud voice stung my ears.
Shut up, bitch!
“I already said she was from the Alpha and she means no harm,” Madam Dora scolded her before clearing her throat.
“Esmeralda on the other hand will be working in Alpha Kade’s quarters,”
“No way!”
