Esmeralda
I should have listened to the small still voice that echoed in my head, warning me from entering the room, but I had shunned it, satisfying my curiosity.
Confusion, shock and fear washed over me as my soul jumped out of my body when I locked gaze with Alpha Kade whose dreadful eyes pinned me down.
Unable to move, I leaned on the door for support, submitting myself to him and I could swear that the loud thumps of my heart were heard by everyone.
“The third and the most important rule is to never tell anyone that you are my mate, the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. Just do your job and retreat to your room,”
But I disobeyed.
I let my legs wander carelessly.
Now I had wandered into trouble.
I should have listened.
I should have stayed in my room, but nowI broke the rule.
It was my second day here and I had started breaking the rules.
Wow!
Only the Moon goddess knows what my fate would be.
My gaze swept past the room briefly, and it turned out that the kitchen I imagined was a modern office. Alpha Kade’s office.
A strange young man was in the office, standing beside Alpha Kade with a powerful aura. He reeked of dangerous powers too but Alpha Kade’s aura overshadowed his easily. His height was intimidating, but Alpha Kade towered over him, over everyone in the room, effortlessly, pulling submission from us without forcing it.
A beautiful middle-aged woman stood beside the door, shocked by my sudden appearance. Judging by her looks, she was a worker.
In a split second, I was grabbed by a pair of rough hands, and thrown against the hard wall as the strange man launched at me, “Spy!” He screamed, choking me by the collar of my top as his chest rose and fell in anger.
Pain shot up in my spine and I could feel droplets of my blood splatter on the floor as his claws dug into my skin.
“Who sent you? Who fucking sent you?” He roared, tightening his grip on my neck, making me gasp for breath. His teeth bared in hate and his eyes darkened with rage.
“No… nobody, please,” I managed to speak, struggling for air, but my response angered him.
“Liar! You better talk now or you’ll be sorry,” He sneered darkly, cocking his head so that his dreadful eyes met mine, “You are a spy, aren’t you?”
I wasn’t!
Do I even look like a spy?
“I swear by the Moon goddess, I am not a spy,” I sniffed, “Please believe me,” I whispered. Tears burned in my eyes and I watched them roll down my cheek, splashing on his hands.
“And why should I believe you?” He clenched his teeth, blinking his eyes severally. A gasp escaped from my lips when I saw his wolf side fluctuating. He was having a hard time controlling his wolf.
Because a broken soul like me had nothing to lose!
I bowed my head slightly, allowing the remaining to roll off my eyes, hoping he would have compassion on me.
“Who are you!” He yelled, making me flinch in fear.
I am your Luna!
“Nobody,” I bowed my head in shame, “I am nobody,”
“I…” I opened my mouth to speak but words failed me.
Should I reveal my identity and face the consequences?
Should I shut up and endure the suffering?
Help me, Moon goddess.
My confused eyes met Alpha Kade’s own and for the first time, they softened. Warmth replaced the coldness of his eyes. Emotions hung over them as he drowned in the ocean of his thoughts.
What was he thinking about?
And why wasn’t he saying something?
Why wasn’t he defending me?
I was his mate after all and he was the reason I was assaulted.
Say something Alpha Kade!
But he stood on the spot, without tearing his gaze from me. His quietness hurt me, causing tears to blur my vision.
Help me! My eyes communicated to him, but he chose to watch me suffer.
“Let her go, Silvius, she is not a spy,” He said, tearing his gaze off me to my relief.
Silvius.
“How do you know she is not a spy? Common Alpha, don’t be deceived by those pair of innocent eyes,”
Why does this man have trust issues? And who was he to question the Alpha?
“I said she is not a spy, now, let her go!” He hissed, irritation laced in his voice.
“No, Alpha. My duty is to protect you at all costs. She will stay in the dungeon till she confesses. I don’t trust her,” He bared his canines at me before grabbing me with those sandpaper hands.
His job is to protect the Alpha…
Was he the Beta?
“Silvius!” Alpha Kade’s thundering voice shook the office as he dashed to where I stood, shielding Silvius from me with his body.
A blush stained my cheeks at Alpha Kade’s actions.
He was defending me.
“If she is not a spy, then what is she?” His forehead creased in confusion as his eyes darted to Alpha Kade before they landed on me.
I was his mate, you psycho!
Tell him, Alpha Kade.
“Alpha?” Silvius shook him, snapping him back to reality.
“You don’t have to worry about her. She already told you who she was,” He replied coldly, elongating the distance between us.
Who I was?
Then it flashed in my memory.
Nobody, I was nobody
A foreign pain assaulted my heart, almost shattering it. I clutched my chest, staring at Alpha Kade in disbelief.
I was nobody?
“I don’t buy that talk,”
It was obvious he wasn’t satisfied with Alpha Kade’s words.
A weary sigh escaped his lips, “Fine, I brought her from the Crescent Moon Pack,”
His words brought a shimmer of hope to my heart. My heart raced at the thought of his revelation.
“Is she?” Silvius’ gasped, his eyes widened in fear and expectation.
How would he feel when he knows he rough-handled his Luna?
Go on, tell them. Tell them that I am your mate!
