Kade
“Who sent you? Who fucking sent you?!” Silvius tightened his grip on Esmeralda’s neck, choking her in the process. Those caring eyes were replaced with a pair of deadly ones as they turned into the darkest shades of black.
“No… nobody, please,” Esmeralda said breathlessly as she struggled to find her voice.
Silvius clenched his teeth, “Liar! You better talk now or you’ll be sorry,” He chuckled darkly, cocking his head to the side, trying to detect the truth from her, “You are a spy aren’t you?”
“I swear by the Moon… Moon goddess, I am not a spy,” Esmeralda cried, gasping hard for breath, “Please, believe me,” She said in almost a whisper as tears fell past her eyes, staining Silvius’ hand.
“And why should I believe you?” He swallowed in disgust, pinning her to the wall. And in a flash of light, his ears became pronounced and his thick fur coated his arm as he struggled to be in charge of his wolf. I knew it was only a matter of time before his irate wolf ripped Esmeralda apart.
“Who are you?!” He yelled, shaking Esmeralda rigorously, making her flinch, almost hitting her head on the wall.
“Nobody!” She bowed her head in shame, “I am nobody,”
Raw anger, violence, death, lack of trust, and vengeance were the similarities between Silvius and me, except that I was short-tempered. We wasted no time ending anyone that posed a threat to us, be it a man or a woman.
“I…” Esmeralda paused, her eyes darted toward me, pleading with me to save her from her predator as she was scared to break the rules. And at once, I was lost in those pair of innocent angelic eyes that glistened under the brilliance of the sun.
Those amber eyes held my green ones spellbound, making me want to stare at them all day. To get lost in its sparkle. Never look away.
The moistness added to its shimmer as they were glued with mine.
Even in tears, she was beautiful.
A burning desire spiked through me at once. To go over to her. To wipe those tears. To kiss those eyes.
As much as I loved to see her dry eyes, I was also mesmerized when they turned moist.
I was oblivious to the others in the room as one person centred on my mind.
Esmeralda.
Nothing else mattered, not even Silvius nor Dora.
What was wrong with me?
One minute, I was mad at her. Another minute, I wanted her.
I cleared my throat, snapping myself out of my fantasy, “Let her go, Silvius. She is not a spy,” I reluctantly tore my gaze off Esmeralda who heaved a sigh of relief.
Silvius’ narrowed his gaze at me with his head cocked to a side, “How do you know that? Common Alpha, don’t be deceived by those pair of innocent eyes,”
“I said she is not a spy. Now, let her go,” I ordered, getting pissed as Tyson wouldn’t stop whining in my head.
Esmeralda’s presence did not only stir him up from deep slumber and strengthen him, but she also brought healing to my weak bones.
Mate bond’s doings.
“No, Alpha. My duty is to protect you at all costs. She will stay in the dungeon till she confesses. I don’t trust her,” He grabbed Esmeralda by the collar of her cloth, pulling her toward the door.
“Silvius!” I growled angrily, rushing toward them and snatching Esmeralda away from him, shielding her behind me as I faced a ferocious and confused Silvius, “Be careful,”
How dare he rough handle my mate?
No one rough handles my mate without getting torn apart, not even Silvius who was my right-hand man.
Tyson’s loud growl ignited a fire inside me, making me want to punish Silvius badly for touching our mate.
But I couldn’t blame him. He was only watching out for me, oblivious to Esmeralda’s identity.
“Tell him, Kade. Make him apologize for touching our mate!” Tyson growled angrily, pacing in my head.
“Not now, Tyson,” I replied, taking deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves.
“If she is not a spy, then what is she?” Silvius’ brows knitted as deep folds appeared on his forehead.
“She is our mate, your Luna!” Tyson spat, his words were coated in anger.
Confusion overshadowed me as different thoughts flooded my mind.
Should I tell them?
Should I keep mute?
Knowing Silvius’ attitude, his doubt would lead him to investigate and he won’t stop till he finds out about her. Which was what I didn’t want.
I was going to break the news myself. Now was not the right time. But how long do I keep silent? How long do I conceal her identity without being noticed?
Even if I don’t tell them, they will find out about their Luna. Sooner or later.
“Alpha?” Silvius’ voice jolted me from my long train of thoughts. His curious eyes roamed my face, searching for answers.
“You don’t need to worry about her. She already told you who she was,” I said, moving away from Esmeralda
I could feel her heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
“I don’t buy that talk,”
Now, what was I going to say?
For the first time, I was irritated by Silvius’ curiosity.
“Just say the truth,” Tyson whined.
I sighed, “Fine. I brought her from the Crescent Moon Pack,” I blurted, avoiding everyone’s gaze, ignoring their gasps as their inquisitiveness heightened.
I could feel Esmeralda’s gaze boring holes behind me. Her racing heart was filled with expectations and her happiness washed on the tip of my tongue.
“Is she…”
The swinging of the door interrupted Silvius as our attention was focused on another lady, the witch.
What the fuck was she doing here?
“Uhm, sorry, I was just looking for her, I don’t mean any harm,” She gasped like she had seen a ghost.
“And who are you?” Silvius turned to meet her, trying hard to control his raging emotions, “Who the fuck are these people?” Silvius threw his hands in the air in frustration
“She is my best friend,”
“We don’t run charity here. You can go back to the holes you crawled from,”
Shit!
How do I cover up Esmeralda and the witch?
“Who are they, Alpha?” Silvius barked, visibly irritated by the witch’s presence.
“They are… actually, I brought them to assist Dora to take care of the house. They are my new housekeepers,” I answered, igniting a foreign pain in Esmeralda’s heart and shattering her fragile heart into a thousand pieces.
“New housekeepers?!”
