When Emma woke up, she was lying on a bed and it was dark. Slowly, the memory of Lucius injecting her came to her mind. She sat up and looked around the dark room. It was better than most of the rooms in the pack house. Where was she? She slowly got up from the bed and went to the window. She pulled the curtains aside and looked outside. She was not shocked to notice she was in the cottage Michelle had almost killed her in. she sighed and went to turn on the light before trying to open the door. Emma’s heart started racing when she realised that it was locked. She banged on it as loud as she could.
“Hello? Who’s there?” she yelled on top of her voice. “Get me out of here!”
A few seconds later, she started hearing footsteps. She went back to the window, only to find that it was boarded there were three metallic vertical rods that had been used to board it up. She could not escape through the window.
She realised the footsteps had stopped at the door but there was no movement to open the door.
“Open up!” Emma yelled. She felt like tearing her hair out, the frustration building up each passing second.
“Emma, I hope you’re okay in there.”
“Casey? Of course I’m not okay. I’m locked in this tiny room. Get me out of here.”
“I’m sorry but I can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t? Are you on that jerk’s side now? What the hell is wrong with you Casey? I hope you do not believe Michelle’s story as well.”
“Of course not. I never believed it for a second. It’s just that I do not have the keys to that door. Lucius went with them so I can’t do anything.”
“What the hell? What if there’s a fire?”
Emma was already feeling anxious being there, and anxiety always made her imagine so many negative possibilities. Ever since she realised that she was locked inside, the room had become even hotter. She looked around and it felt like it was closing up on her.
“Stop yelling, okay. There are guards around the house.”
“Okay, fine. What am I supposed to do now?”
“We were hoping you’d sleep till morning.”
“How am I supposed to sleep knowing that I’m locked in here?” she asked. “Go and tell those guards use their mind link connection and tell Lucius that I want to get out. I’m never going to forgive him for this.”
“Okay. Let me try.”
When Casey was gone, Emma went and sat on the bed. She hoped Lucius would agree to come because she had to give him a big piece of her mind. It took about ten minutes before she heard sound in the hallway.
“Casey?”
Silence.
“Lucius?”
Silence.
“What the hell? Who is there?”
She heard keys being fixed into the keyhole and stood up. Crossing her arms on her chest, she waited for the door to open. She wanted to let out a stream of curse words, but when she saw him, she became speechless.
Lucius was shirtless and his rock hard body was exposed. Emma could see his ripped arms and abs. her eyes went down the v-line that disappeared into his shorts and her breath hitched. She turned to look up at his eyes. Big mistake. Even in the dim light, their intense power could be felt. Emma swallowed and uncrossed her arms. She sat on the bed looking the other side. Now that she was not looking at him, she could be angry.
“How could you lock me up here, Lucius?”
“Do you really think I wanted to do it?” he asked.
“You did it.”
“Because I don’t want you to make a hasty decision.”
“Or because you don’t want me to leave. Lucius, I have a right to decide what kind of life I want. If I don’t want to be in this pack, that should be okay. You and I are not mates. We’re two people who fell in love, but love can end. We can end this and move on. I have watched those movies by humans and it’s very possible to move on. Maybe we will even meet other people.”
“I want to be with you not other people.”
Emma rolled her eyes. “Why are you so impossible?”
He came and sat next to her. “Why can’t we try to make it work? I’m ready to divorce Michelle. I think even she has realised that she and I can never work out because all I think about is you. You have no idea how hard the past week has been for me. I thought about you every day. If Casey had not convinced me that you were alive, I don’t know what I’d have done. When she told me that she could feel your spirit and you were okay, I calmed down a bit. I figured you needed time and would come back sooner or later. Now that I found you, I can’t lose you again.”
“Lucius, I don’t know what to say.”
Lucius wound his left arm around her waist, pulling her closer. “You don’t have to say anything, baby. I’ll take care of everything.”
Emma turned her head to face him. His lips immediately captured hers. Emma responded to the slow kiss, enjoying the feeling of heat spreading throughout her body. Slowly, the kiss became fast, fuelled by hunger felt by the young couple. Emma pulled back and removed her blouse before leaning over so he could kiss her again. He pushed her to the bed, and they both pulled apart for a while, to find the best position. Within no time, his mouth was ravaging hers again, their tongues duelling passionately.
This was so much better than the kiss with Andres. Emma was trying hard not to think about what had happened, but the thoughts kept coming back to her mind. Visions of Andres’ lips were now mixed with visions of his bloody body on the floor.
Lucius must have realised something was wrong because he paused and asked if she was okay. She shook her head. Maybe it was time to be honest.
