Cilla
After Ridian left, my situation got worse. Each passing day, I slipped further and further into depression. There were so many people around me but I felt lonelier than I had ever been before. It was like I was facing the world alone. Cara and Camilla tried to be there for me but I shunned them, preferring to be alone. I got invitations from Moonshine to go and attend some of their parties but I ignored them and asked the beta to keep making up excuses as to why I couldn’t do. It was like everyone else was disappointed in me. I could see it in their eyes. That’s why I stopped going outside.
I was standing by the window staring into the woods when I heard a knock on the door. I ignored it, thinking the person would go away. The person decided to send the message through his mind which was what he should have done in the first place.
“There has been a breach in the security,” it was Kenny. I went and opened the door immediately.
“What do you mean?”
“Some people have tried to destroy the mines.”
“Let’s go,” I said, suddenly feeling brave. Talking to one person made me realize that I was fed up of being cooped up all day. “I want to see it.”
“That’s great,” Kenny said. He seemed surprised that I wanted to get out of the pack house and see what was going on.
The moon shone brightly in the sky as we walked out of the gate and into the forest. When we got to the mines, I saw that a number of warriors had gathered near the mines, some of which had been broken down so that they would cave in. Kenny and I had almost reached the first dismantled mine when we heard the sound of howling and snarling coming from the woods. We were still trying to gauge where the sound was coming from when a group of wolves emerged from the shadows, their eyes glowing in the dark.
The head of security stepped forward, letting out a fierce howl, signaling for us to get ready for battle. We all turned into our wolf forms and faced the rogue looking wolves who charged forward while baring their teeth and getting their claws ready to attack. I stepped forward and raised my hand, signaling to the warriors to stay back. Kenny’s wolf narrowed its eyes as if it was skeptical.
I let out a loud growl as I lunged at the first rogue, my sharp claws sinking through his flesh. He let out a loud scream as he fell on the ground, life seeping out of him. The others hesitated for a while before attacking me all at once. Unfortunately for them, I was ready to finish them. I easily dodged and weaved my way throw the swift attacks with my unmatchable speed and strength. Thinking of my connection to Ridian seemed to make me stronger than I had ever felt in my entire life.
The rogues continued to come at me and I attacked back ferociously. I quickly took out another rogue with a quick swipe of my claw and another with a bite on the neck while it fought me like its life depended on it. One of them broke away and started running but was brought down by one of the warriors.
The other rogues were younger and looked very scared so I decided to pardon them but when one lunged at me, I launched into battle mode and quickly finished them off. The battle was over in very few minutes. I knew they had tried to attack us because they thought we were weak without an alpha. I had surprised everyone and myself by proving we were not.
The dead rogues lay dead at my feet. I let out a triumphant roar, my reign as the luna secure again. The warriors that had been watching the fight stared in awe, knowing that their luna was a force to be reckoned with. They had finally realized that I was capable of being their leader and protector. It was a proud moment for me.
For the first time in my life, I was really proud of myself. I raised my sword up in the air and smiled before turning to look at the rogues that lay at my feet, defeated and powerless. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride wash over me. I had defeated the rogues that had tried to destroy my pack without training hard for it. I wondered what I was capable of doing if I was properly trained to fight like a warrior. I turned to the pack that was cheering and thanking me for my bravery. I smiled and bowed, feeling proud of my accomplishments.
As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think of the times I held myself down, the times I thought I couldn’t do it. Now, I was the luna of Blackmoon pack, a fierce warrior that had saved the day. I was pretty sure that before that day, most of the pack members did not believe in me and respect me as much as they should.
After what I had done, I was pretty sure that was going to change. And I couldn’t be more proud of myself.
The next day, I called a meeting of all the warriors that were free. We held the meeting at a clearing by the small swamp.
“Warriors of Blackmoon pack,” I said. “I have called you here to speak about our organization as a pack. We are one of the strongest packs around and most people know better than mess with us but we must always be vigilant. There are other packs and rogues that will always try to take our territory.”
I scanned the crowd and noticed that they were all listening intently, eyes focused on me.
“While our alpha is away, I think we need to have more patrols. I need every inch of our territory to be secured at all times and all threats eliminated before they have a chance to destroy us. I want the alpha to come back and find the pack as it is. I know this sounds difficult but you’re all very strong and I believe we can do this until the alpha returns and gives fresh orders. Without him here, we are weaker and therefore need to take more steps to protect ourselves. This pack is neither alpha Ridian’s nor mine. It is ours and together we will protect it.”
The warriors let out a fierce howl, their voices rising in unison with mine. They seemed ready to follow my instructions and protect the pack. A few minutes later, I set them free and they dispersed to start doing what needed to be done. I was proud of them, and myself for being so articulate. Fighting those rogues had given me so much confidence and I loved it. I felt like I could take on anything and anyone. That was great.
