Jane’s POV.
Everything went according to plan. I bore the humiliation without complaint because I knew that it was essential for the final plan to work. It was funny how everyone looked happy to see me suffering. I realized that they were all full of hate and it helped me to avoid regretting my decision to get revenge on those who had annoyed me.
Just because it was a part of my plan didn’t mean it wouldn’t hurt. The whipping hurt like a b! tch, and it made me hate Cilla more than I had done before. I knew she was the reason all that was happening to me. Ridian and his brother suspected me of trying to kill Cilla, which was why they punished me in front of everyone. Ever since that woman had walked into Blackmoon pack, my life had gone downhill. She was still trying to ruin my life and I couldn’t rest until I had got rid of her.
As I stumbled along the forest, the wounds on my back stung. There was blood everywhere. I walked until I was out of Blackmoon pack territory. I saw a dense thicket and went to sit there. My wounds were starting to heal but they were still awfully painful and raw. I opened my mouth and whistled. A few minutes later, I could sense a familiar scent. Rody was standing near a path. The pain from my back had lessened so I was feeling stronger. I came out of my hiding place and went to meet him.
“Are the children secured?” I asked.
Rody nodded, and I hugged him happily. “Thank you so much, Rody! You’re the best! I’m so happy! Thank you so much!”
Rody and I turned before running out of the woods. It took us very long to reach the main road where a truck was waiting for us with the children. We climbed the back of the truck and the driver set off. When I was settled, I peeped in to see the children. They had been knocked out and were lying on the back seats.
The car sped off. We stopped after an hour and branced off the main road. We went deep into the woods until we found a cabin. Rody and I jumped off the truck and hit the ground. I opened the door and stared at the unconscious twins.
“They’re so good looking,” I said. “It’s a pity they have to pay for the sins of their annoying sister. If only they weren’t related to Cilla. I wouldn’t make them suffer.”
I closed the door and joined Rody and Sam in the house. We needed a break before continuing to the human world where I was going to hide out before figuring out what to do with the children. We rested for only thirty minutes before hitting the road again. I believed they had not yet figured out that the twins were missing and were not yet following us but I didn’t want to take any chances. Those kids were my only way of getting what I wanted.
We arrived at a small town where Rody and Sam helped me steal a car before returning back to Crystal pack where they had already been summoned. I was alone with two unconscious kids and I knew that was dangerous in the human world. If the police found me, I would be arrested. I took the car and drove fast.
Eventually, I reached a big city and decided to head to the suburbs to find the house whose address Rody had given me. When I reached it, thanks to GPS, I saw that it was semi-abandoned. It was the worst looking house on the block and looked like it had not been lived in for ages.
Using the keys I had, I opened the garage door and drove inside before closing it. I opened the car doors and left the twins inside because I was too tired to carry them. I went and opened the door leading to the rest of the house. The first things I checked were the power and water as I had been instructed. Thankfully, they were on. The house was stuffy, dusty and cold.
I was hungry so I went to the kitchen in hopes of finding something to cook. The fridge was dry as the Sahara, and there was no sign of groceries in the house. Sighing, I went and opened the front door before stepping out. The house on my left seemed well taken care of so I decided to go there and ask for some help. I needed some food or directions to the nearest grocery store where I could buy some supplies.
I rang the bell and waited. A young petite woman opened the door. Her long blonde hair fell in ringlets by the sides of her face and she was very beautiful.
“May I help you?” she asked, looking mildly annoyed.
“Yes, I’d like some help. I just moved in to the house next door and its totally dry. I have my kids with me and we are starving. Do you have any food to spare?”
The woman laughed. “My house is not a charity so back off lady.”
“I’m sorry for being so blunt. Could you at least tell me where the nearest store is?”
The woman rolled her eyes before slamming the door in my face. My fingers balled into fists and I took a deep breath. I had gone there determined to live in goof terms with humans but this woman just made that impossible. I rang the bell again.
“Go away or I’ll call the police,” she yelled.
I rang the bell again.
A few seconds later, I started hearing footsteps. I heard the woman picking up something before the door was thrown open. She swung a baseball bat at me but I dodged just in time. Glancing at both sides of the streets, I forcefully entered pushing the woman to the floor before closing the door. She stood up and tried to fight me only to realize I was too strong. I heled her hand back with only one hand and it wouldn’t move an itch.
“What? How?” she asked, staring at my lanky frame. It was clear she didn’t understand what was going on.
I let her go and she staggered back. She started running towards the phone on the table but I got to it before she did, thanks to my super speed.
“What?” she asked, clearly confused.
I went and grabbed her hand before dragging her to the kitchen. “I said I want food.”
