Cilla.
When it came to my siblings, no one could tell me what to do, not even my husband. I was their primary caretaker and in charge of making all decisions that pertained to them. Hearing that they had been taken away from me again broke my heard. The fact that I had no idea where they were made it worse than before. When Ridian left after scolding me, I waited for news for a while before calling Sarah. The nap I had taken after taking my medication had made me feel better and stronger. Sarah helped me wash up and dress up. She did my makeup and made sure to conceal the weariness on my face.
When I was satisfied with how I looked, I went to the elevator with Sarah. I met Camilla and Cara at the front yard. “Any news?” I asked.
They shook their heads, sadly.
Cara came to my side. “We haven’t heard anything but that doesn’t mean they’re not okay.”
“It’s a serious situation,” Camilla said. She was always blunt and honest. “We suspect that Jane Willow was used to distract the pack while they took the children. If Jane Willow is working with the people who took them, it means we have to be really worried, especially after what was done today. I think it would have been better if she had been killed. Now that she’s alive, she’s going to let out her wrath on the twins.”
“Okay, let’s avoid the negative talk.” Cara told Camilla. The damage had already been done. I was more worried than ever.
“No non-member can enter this pack undetected,” I said. “That means the person who helped Jane Willow is from this pack. It may also mean the person is now targeting me. I have to leave.”
Camilla shook her head. “You don’t have to leave. You just have to stay indoors and let Ridian deal with everything until you recover fully. You need to get back inside.”
I shook my head. “I’ll go crazy if I lock myself in there. I need to leave the pack. I’m going to Moonshine pack.”
“Nonsense,” Camilla said. “You were almost killed there. Stay here. The warriors will protect you.”
“You mean the same warriors who couldn’t protect my siblings?”
They stared at me, lost for words. “Tell your brother that I’ve gone to look for my siblings,” I said, and walked away.
When I got to the gate, security was tight. “We cannot let you leave, luna. Alpha’s orders.”
“Alpha’s orders, my foot.” I said. “Let me go or you’ll lose your positions.”
“We’re sorry,” he said.
Suddenly, all the five guards started clutching their necks. I turned around but didn’t see anybody. I used the chance to cross the gate. When I was on the other side of the gate, I glanced back only to see Jamilla smiling evilly. I frowned before putting my palms together to indicate that I was thankful. Why did she help me?
Before I could dwell on that, I spotted a warrior and turned quickly before running in the opposite direction. I felt stronger in my wolf form, enabling me to run faster. Two hours later, I was inside Moonshine pack. Had I been normal, it would have taken me about an hour and twenty minutes to get there. I went to the cabin stuffed with all manner of clothing and picked out some drab looing clothes before heading to the pack house. The ladies who were seated at the backyard welcomed and offered me a seat with them. My head was throbbing and I was feeling feverish but I was glad to be there.
I told them everything that the warrior had told Ridian and I. they were not shocked because Ridian’s warriors had just left after combing the entire pack clean, searching for the twins. I engaged the women further until they were comfortable with me.
“I don’t know if it’s true but I heard that woman was in Crystal pack,” one of the women told me. She was short and had very oily skin. She was seated on a man and a baby was suckling one of her breasts.
“Jane Willow?”
“Yes. My husband is in charge of one of the security posts along the boundary. He told me that Jane Willow came looking for alpha Aragon. Alpha Aragon spoke to her and later asked his friends at Crystal pack to hide and protect her. He and the others were sworn to secrecy. I haven’t talked about it because I was scared but I can’t keep holding this information in anymore since it involves innocent children. I have a child and I wouldn’t want them to be snatched away from me by selfish people.”
“Are you sure that’s true?” I asked, hoping she would say yes.
“I’m very sure. My husband ran away with the luna so there’s no need for me to protect him anymore.”
I stood up. “I’m going to Crystal pack.”
“No, no.” another woman stood up. “Crystal pack is very dangerous especially because they have so many witches. You can’t go alone. Besides, they must be mad because alpha Ridian stole their truck to take you home. Crystal pack is in good terms with alpha Aragon. Why not just use him to make them hand Jane Willow to you. Are you even sure she is there?”
“Where is the weapons room?” I asked.
The ladies began to look terrified. One of them ran away from there as fast as she could while I ran into the house.
“Where is the fvcking weapons’ room?” I yelled in the hallway. I saw Beata running down the stairs and stopped. “Where is the weapons’ room, Beata?”
I had resoled to descend on Crystal pack, with or without help.
“Cilla, please calm down. What do you want the weapons for?”
“Jane Willow had my siblings kidnapped and she has been living in crystal pack. I want to get them back.”
Beata dragged me to the living room and she pulled a string by the door. A ringing sound was heard. “Come with me. Tell the guards to go to Crystal pack and talk to them. Violence will not help because those people will finish us. You have no idea how strong they have become over the years.”
“Take me to your room,” I begged Beata. She rang the bell again and led me away from there. I received curious stares from those who had come to find out what was going on. Because of them, I forced myself to remain strong.
As soon as we entered Beata’s room, I broke down.
