Jane’s POV
The sun was shining bright when I gathered some of my things and placed them in a bag, before quietly moving out. I knew I wasn’t welcome anymore, not after what I had just done to Ridian. I had spilled his secret to his wife and I knew he was not going to be happy about it. If he found out I was the one who had blabbed, he would come for me and make sure I never saw the light of day. I wasn’t going to wait for that to happen like I was a fool.
I couldn’t stay there any longer. I had to look for a place where I could start over. I needed to speak to someone who hated Ridian, and there was one person I was sure did. Alpha Aragon of the moonshine pack may have been vanquished but I was pretty sure he was planning revenge. No werewolf would let themselves be defeated and do nothing. They’d rather die trying. It was better than having to live under another alpha. Whoever this man was, I was sure he would appreciate my services. All I needed was for him to find me a place to live in another pack that had not pledged allegiance to Ridian Jamison.
Since I was not a slave, I was usually allowed to leave the pack and venture into the forest if I had a good reason. I didn’t have a good reason but I was pretty and the guard on duty liked me so he let me leave. All I had to give him was a short kiss. He was good looking so that felt great. I scratched his back, and he scratched mine. Hoping for another kiss when I returned, he let me out.
When I was a few metres into the deep woods behind our pack, I shifted to werewolf form and began running. I had never been to moonshine pack, but I had been to a pack near it. Crystal pack. I wondered if Aragon was in good terms with the alpha of crystal pack.
Although I ran at a very high speed and only rested for short periods of time, it took about six hours for me to get to crystal pack. Crystal pack was one the larger packs in that region. It was large in terms of territory but not that prosperous. It was fairly weak for a pack with so much land. I walked along the boundary of crystal pack, making sure not to be too close so that whoever may have been guarding didn’t feel threatened.
Also, I didn’t want to be so far from the pack’s boundary. Slave traders also patrolled areas that were a bit far from pack territories, looking for rogues to capture and sell off as slaves. If there was one thing I didn’t think I could cope with, it was being a slave. I’d kill myself but I became anyone’s slave.
I had turned into human form when I came across some clothes, and was minding my business, humming a folk song when I spotted a young man at a distance. He was dressed in a black shirt and trousers with a blue hat on top of his head. He was on the crystal pack side.
I ran behind a large tree to hide before peeping to have a look at him. I frowned when I did not see him anyway. I stayed behind the tree for a while and just as I was about to leave, someone appeared in front of me. Taken aback, I gasped, holding my chest.
“I mean no harm,” I said.
“Neither do I,” he said. “I’m just doing my job. What are you doing so close to my pack’s territory?”
“I’m looking for Moonshine pack,” I said without wasting time.
“Who are you, and why are you looking for Moonshine pack around here.”
“I don’t know where it is. All I know is that it is next to crystal pack. I have been to crystal pack before so that’s how I was able to find it. Could you please give me the directions to Moonshine pack?”
“Who are you and where did you come from?”
“My name is Kary Small, from North Creek pack.”
North Creek pack was a small pack next to my defunct original pack. One of my late friends came from there and she was called Kary Small.
“What’s your business at Moonshine?”
“I have heard what happened. I have some good friends there and they reached out to me. They need some help. Apparently their alpha has gone wild since the takeover by alpha Jamison of Blackmoon pack. one of my friends urgently contacted me and asked me to come but I’m not very sure of the particulars.”
“It’s alright, I don’t really care why you’re going there. You’re a very pretty woman, I can’t say no to you.”
I smiled, feeling the heat rising to my face. “Thank you so much.”
“You’ll go south for about six kilometres. That’s where our border ends. Then there’s four kilometres of no man’s land before you reach Moonshine pack’s territory. Be careful how you approach the guards though. They have been said to be quite rabid.”
“Would you recommend going as human or wolf?”
“Human. You’re a beautiful woman. They’re going to think twice before killing you. As for a random wolf, it might not be the case. To be on the safe side, go there as you are right now.”
“Thank you so much for your help.”
“It was pleasure. By the way, my name is Sam and I hope we shall meet again.”
Thankfully, Sam did not ask me for anything in return for his help. We soon parted ways and I started running towards the direction he had indicated. It took longer than it would have if I had run in my wolf form but it was better as it helped me rethink my strategy and come up with what I was going to say to Aragon.
When I finally reached, I paced around near the border for a while before making myself seen. When I approached a guard post in the middle of nowhere, three guards stood up with their arms in hand, ready to strike if I tried anything.
I cleared my thought.
“My name is Jane Willow, and I’m here to see Alpha Aragon Miller.”
