Had to be done

Book:The Alpha's Enslaved Mate Published:2024-6-3

Ridian’s POV
Samantha feigned some sort of understanding before excusing herself and leaving. I was relieved that she was gone. Suddenly, the world was quieter. I had been scared of the quiet but it actually calmed me down. I began to feel better, and realised it was all I actually wanted. I wanted peace; I thought it was only inner peace, but clearly external peace was important as well.
After a cold shower, I lay on the bed. The peace soon disappeared and was replaced by certain restlessness. All the negative thoughts I had repressed started to pour back vigorously. I hated being uncomfortable when away from home.
I realised I needed to go home where I could do whatever I wanted without worrying so much about what others thought. They were my subjects, after all. I leapt out of bed and put on my clothes before heading back to the party room.
Kane was dancing with his mate but he looked absolutely stoned. I made my way through a bunch of sweaty and smelly bodies. Kane stumbled against me when I tapped him on the back. I would never allow my people see me in such a state. I did all kinds of bad stuff but most of my people just heard of them. Only a few saw me in action. Kane was different. He totally didn’t care about anyone’s opinion. I didn’t want to ever reach that point.
“Hey man, I gotta go home.”
“Wh-a-t? Stay for a few more days. There’s no need for you to go now.”
“There is.”
“Ohhh, what?”
“We’ll talk,” I said. “Goodbye Fran.” I told his mate who nodded with a polite smile. I walked out of the hall and stepped outside.
The moon was shining bright. Willing it, I turned into my wolf form and stormed through the woods. My pack was quite far but I knew I would get there within a few hours. I could have used a car but I needed the run. While human inventions made life easier, they were not that comfortable for those of us who are used to the wild.
Two hours later, I was in the shack by the gate, putting on clothes. When I finished, I walked through the compound heading to the house. I was starting to feel better already, and in control.
The pack house was silent as a grave. I made my way to the hidden elevator and a few seconds later, I was outside my unit. I expected the place to be quiet and clean but the smell of drugs told me otherwise.
“Kelly!” I yelled.
“Yes,” a weak voice said from the bedroom. Had she forgotten how much I hated the stupid drugs? Why wasn’t she gone after id given instructions for the same?
“Why are you still here?” I said, throwing open the door. My bedroom smelled of cigarette smoke.
“Oh my god!” she screamed, jumping off the bed. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know you were returning so soon.”
“Does that mean you should disrespect my house like this?” I asked.
“I’m so sorry,” she said, running to open the windows. She turned the fan on and ran to pull off the sheets and covers.
I leaned against the wall and watched as she ran around, trying to put everything where it belonged and returning some sanity back into the room.
“Let me hope you didn’t bring any one in here.”
She shook her head vigorously. “No, I wouldn’t do that.”
“You know what, its okay. I’ll sleep in one of the other rooms.”
There were so many rooms on my floor. Rooms for the luna, and the pups she would bear for me and a guest room. I didn’t want to go rough on Kelly because she was one of the few friends I had, and had demons of her own to battle. I knew that she would not repeat it again.
“I’ll bring clean beddings and everything.”
I smiled. “Don’t worry about it. We are friends, Kelly. Let’s make sure this never happens again, because I won’t be so forgiving.”
“Thank you so much, Ridian.”
“We shall talk in the morning.”
I didn’t know how I was able to restrain myself so well but was glad to realise I was still capable of humanity.
I managed to sleep well but my anger returned the next morning. I had expected Cilla to be serving me but she made no appearance. Instead, it was only Cara who was available.
“Where is Cilla Markle?” I inquired.
“She was reassigned while you were gone,” Cara explained. “She is now cleaning Mrs. Jamison’s unit and babysitting miss Erica. Mrs. Jamison says she thinks Erica and Cilla will get along very well so she decided to retain her. Ci-, I mean miss Markle asked if she could return to her old position this morning but was denied. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, sir.”
Mother. That woman didn’t know her boundaries. She never got tired of trying to mess up the lives of her children.
“Go and summon miss Markle. Do not return without her.”
Cara Girad was good at following instructions. She returned a minute later with Cilla in tow. Cilla was wearing a blue uniform with a black apron. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun. She looked at me with vulnerability in her eyes, and I felt a tug in my heart.
I couldn’t ignore her obvious beauty anymore. The woman was striking. Her blue eyes were deep and magnetic. Her pink lips looked so kissable I felt like pulling her to me and kissing her senseless. I could feel the heat rising in my body and my blood rushing fast to a certain sensitive part.
It was painful, seeing her so close but not being able to touch her and do all the things I wanted with her.
I did not want to live like that. Neither was I going to leave my pack again. Cilla Markle had to go.
“Good morning, sir.” Cilla said and bowed respectfully. The voice was smooth and sweet like honey.
“You should have been here,” I said. “Your job is to serve me.”
“But Mrs. Jamison said…”
“Who is the alpha?”
“You, sir.”
“Who has the last word in this pack?”
“You, sir.”
“It’s good you now understand. Unfortunately for you, you won’t be around much longer to correct your mistakes.”
“What do you mean, sir?”
“You have to go.”
She slid down to her knees, almost automatically. “Please.”
“Don’t waste your time.”
“Please.”
“Shut up!”
Doing that to her did not feel good, but it had to be done.
