On the 57th day of meeting Vampire, I had to see Vampire again, but this time, it wasn’t for spending a meaningful day with him, but rather I had to sign a contract with the producer. At 10 am in the morning, Vampire texted me the location very professionally. After reading that text, I felt a hint of disappointment in my heart.
Why couldn’t we message each other like before? I pursed my lips and sighed before keeping the phone back in my pockets. I didn’t see my husband anymore at home when I got ready to go out. So I assumed that he was perhaps out to look for work.
I shrugged and locked the door before stepping outside the apartment building. After wearing headphones, I played my favorite songs while heading toward the familiar cafe. He would come and bring the contract at the same coffee shop like before. For some reason, even though I wanted to ignore him, I couldn’t. My heart wouldn’t let me sulk at home and forget such a wonderful person who could make me feel warm on the inside.
On the other hand, I wanted to stay far away from my husband who could only make me feel so guilty that I just wanted to dig a hole and hide inside it forever! So instead of being logical, I could only follow my heart that urged me to get ready to meet Vampire for the second time this week.
My heart was already jumping inside my chest when I thought of him. I had seen him yesterday only when we had spent some wild time together on the bed. My heart wanted to be close to him whereas my head was telling me to stay back, but I rarely listened to my brain. Now when I remembered that intoxicating pleasure I had felt with him earlier last night, I couldn’t help but feel anticipation boiling inside my heart that urged me to bring him closer to me.
I bit my lower lips and quickened my pace. The distance between that coffee shop and the bridge was smaller. I had told the taxi to drop me off at that bridge as I continued to walk on the street. When I reached, my heartbeat had increased to a higher degree, especially after seeing his head lowered while he was writing in a paper on his seat.
Vampire was sitting at our usual spot beside the window. His figure was basking the sunlight as he continued to jot something down. Enticed, I continued to stare at his attractive body that had already made me feel hot. Every part of the scene from last night popped up in my head as the feeling of guilt climbed out of my heart, making me feel immensely happy.
Yes, this was what I had longed for all this time. What else would I need in life if only I could be with this man before my eyes for a long time? I felt stupid for being with my husband who could onyl give me bitter feelings.
Perhaps Vampire sensed my presence. He suddenly lifted his head and glanced at me before a smile bloomed on his lips.
Thump. Thump.
My heart jumped involuntarily in my chest.
The way Vampire glanced at me made me feel as if I was the only person he loved. I pursed my lips and tried to suppress the emotions in my heart as I made my way toward him. “Let’s get down to business.”
Even though I wanted to forget the world and be with this person for a long time, I couldn’t. I knew that we were here to talk about some business, and even Vampire expected me to do that. So I would follow his expectations even if it hurt me like hell.
Vampire was surprised seeing my upfront attitude and nodded before showing me what he wrote on the paper. “Here. I have jotted down the schedule for today. First, we will sign a contract, and I forgot to tell you yesterday, you will have to attend an award ceremony tomorrow, and for that, we will select a dress for you. Since you don’t have a manager yet to handle your stuff, I’ll be taking over that responsibility temporarily.”
I stared at him as if he had grown another head in such a short time. I was so surprised that I couldn’t utter a single word!
Award ceremony?! How?! When?
Why was I going to get an award? I was only under top ten, not the tomost author in the entire Webpad! I was stupedified at his words and looked down at the piece of paper in my hands.
When Vampire saw my expressions, he chuckled and said, “You don’t know yet, do you?”
“What else should I know?”
There’s more? I opened my mouth and closed. I didn’t know whether my heart could take more of this. I was already above nine clouds after reaching the top ten authors on the website. And now, the producer’s agreement upon making a movie out of my novel made my stomach bloat. If I were to hear another good news, I would just faint.
Vampire continued, ignoring my stunned and foolish expressions. “You have become the topmost author of Webpad! That’s why the company held a ceremony to give awards to the authors.” Then he paused and looked at me with amusement. “You don’t check your profile, do you?”
I shook my head. When did I have time to keep checking my profile and latest trending novels? All day long, I was either doing my housework or writing my novel. I was currently about twenty Chapters ahead, and I wanted to write more Chapters for a mass update. So I kept ignoring the notifications and even the comments of my readers while writing and updating more Chapters.
Of course, I wouldn’t ignore my readers completely, but I would spend like five minutes on checking out the comment section after updating the novel.
When Vampire saw my expressions, he laughed and leaned back on his seat. “Now that we know that you will have an award tomorrow, let’s go and find you some clothes, yeah?”
I could only nod foolishly. Perhaps to Vampire, my expressions looked cute. So he chuckled and shuffled my hair before grabbing my hand, dragging me out of the shop instantly.
I couldn’t help but smile at this scene. I forever wanted to stay here and never go back home. This was the place where I felt like I belonged! I couldn’t help but feel my heart being embraced by his love.
After a while, he took me to one of the most expensive clothing shops in the city. I gaped at every piece of clothing and didn’t dare to touch them. They were all so expensive that I wouldn’t be able to pay for them even if I sold myself! I pursed my lips and glanced at Vampire nervously. “L-Let’s go to another shop, okay?”
Vampire shook his head as a grin formed on his lips. “Don’t worry about the price. Just come with me.”
Before I could respond, he introduced me to a girl who smiled and brought a sparkling green dress in front of me. I instantly felt as if I was being blinded by the light that was reflected by that dress. I squinted my eyes and glanced at Vampire, who urged me to wear that dress. I suppressed my curiosity and carefully took it from the girl’s hands.
This dress must be so costly. I really didn’t want to purchase it. But it would matter if I could wear it and take a few snaps, right? I instantly stripped off inside the changing room and wore the dress that had an open back. I glanced at myself and opened my hair.
I looked beautiful. How would Vampire react after seeing me? I instantly felt an urge to see his expression. And sure enough, when I walked out with my heart beating fast inside my chest, I saw his stupefied expression before a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. His gaze was stuck at my face as I blushed even more.
“I look good, right?”
He nodded and a smile formed on his lips.
Traces of blush appeared on my cheeks as I instantly dashed back to the changing room to hide my face. When I calmed myself, I took a few snaps of myself from the mirror and stripped off to give this dress back. No matter how good it felt on my body, I would never be able to buy it.
Then, in a hoarse voice, Vampire said, “We will buy it.”
Before I could open my mouth, Vampire paid the bill to that girl and nodded.
“How could you do that? It’s so costly!” I came out and glanced at him with an anxious expression on my face.
“Don’t worry. This is a gift from me. Take it.”
I opened my mouth and closed it. This dress cost three times his salary! How could he buy it casually for me? I stared at Vampire’s back while he was talking to the shop owner.
All of a sudden, I felt that I was the happiest woman alive in this world. This action of his made my heart moved.
