Even though I was upset, I couldn’t just ignore work and keep staring at the album all day long. So I closed the photo album and walked toward the computer with heavy shoulders. I slumped on the seat and stared at the blank screen for a long time before turning it on.
I was already in a bad mood when I had turned on the computer because of my husband. And when I started typing, I realized that the scenes I was thinking of while typing those words were filled with angst. Even though I followed the outline created by me earlier that Vampire had sanctioned, I still somehow ended up adding a bad ending to it without changing the storyline.
For some reason, I felt that this skill of mine was certainly applaudable. This scene should have been filled with love and happiness. Instead, I made such a mess that the entire Chapter turned into a tear-jerker.
I stared at the text for a long time before sighing. Maybe I should take a break.
Just when I thought about this, my mobile phone went off and indicated that I had a notification. I quickly left everything and picked up the phone as my eyes glistened with happiness. As expected, I got a message from Vampire.
A grin slowly bloomed across my face, and I read what he had sent me so urgently.
“I’ve been at the producer’s office since morning. Let’s see how this goes.”
This message was sent earlier at 10:30 in the morning. I glanced at the clock that showed that it was already half past noon and sighed. My broadband was off, and I hadn’t even realized it. I connected it just now only to realize that Vampire had sent me the message earlier.
If only I had seen his message two hours ago, I wouldn’t have written such a crappy Chapter. I pursed my lips and scrolled down.
“This producer is so mean! How come I didn’t see it before?! He actually wanted to change your story!”
This message was sent half an hour after the first one. It looked like when I was busy writing such a terrible Chapter, he was actually doing some work! A wave of guilt flushed in my heart, but I continued reading through his texts.
“I’ll call you once I’m done. These producers need my full attention.”
And after this, he sent no messages. I laid back on my seat as I felt a trace of warmth spreading across my chest. This guy would always do some unique things to make me feel blissful all day long. I couldn’t help but smile at that.
My mood suddenly brightened and I went back to the previous crappy Chapter. After such a good motivation, I felt like I could change things a bit. Meanwhile, I didn’t see my husband for the entire day, but I didn’t care about him. If that guy didn’t want to eat something I had prepared for him, why should I think about him at all? I would just give him a cold shoulder.
Thinking like that, I continued to go through my Chapter and removed all the terrible parts from the scene I wrote and added romantic scenes that made the entire Chapter even more beautiful. After editing it, I went through it again only to find that the Chapter had a touch of bitter sweet ending to it. This was even more satisfying than what I had imagined earlier.
I nodded and just as I was about to create another Chapter, my phone rang again. It was Vampire.
The warmth in my chest didn’t not subside yet, and it only tickled my heart when I saw his name on the top. I quickly picked up the phone and asked, “How did it go?”
“It’s a long story.” Vampire’s voice suddenly became hoarse as if he had just given a two hours long lecture, and he immediately started to complain. “That producer is the worst! Had it not been for me trying to push your novel forward, he would have chosen some crappy story and made a movie out of it just for the sake of money. But thankfully, I knew how to use my tongue to hook him with my words. Right now he is too excited to work with you and wants you to finish writing your story sooner!”
“Wait…” I felt sympathy for Vampire. I knew he perhaps had to talk a lot to make the producers agree to make a movie out of my novel. The warmth in my chest increased, carrying a trace of affection. “Don’t say anything. I think you should rest.”
“You care about me, huh?” There was a trace of amusement in his hoarse voice this time.
I couldn’t help but blush at that. Why wouldn’t I care about him? He was working so hard to prove to the world that my book was doing well and deserved such a big break. He even talked to the producers for a long time before making it out successfully. How could I not be touched by his actions? So I also opened my mouth and said, “Of course I care about you. You have done so many things for me. So I’m gratified.”
“Careful, princess. Otherwise, you would end up falling for me.”
But I have already fallen for him. It was too late for him to warn me. I knew he was probably joking, but the idea to confess all over again made it across my mind, and I couldn’t help but ponder a little. If I were to tell him about it, how would he react? Last time he hadn’t given me a correct answer, vaguely brushing it off. But now when we both had a closer relationship as compared to before, I could tell that something was bound to happen.
So I tentatively ignored such a heavy and ambiguous topic and said, “Vampire, I never said it before…. Thank you.”
Vampire was silent for a long time before I heard his voice again. “Why did you say that suddenly?”
“I was actually a little upset when I woke up today. You see, my husband…” I paused and thought that I shouldn’t talk about him in front of Vampire, but shouldn’t he know that I decided to divorce him? I pursed my lips and before I could say something, Vampire cut me off.
“Stop before you say anything. I know your relationship with your husband isn’t going well, and it’s a major turn off for your writing. But don’t worry about it. So that’s why I want your book to be turned into a movie. That will allow you to shine for once, and not be ridiculed by others for your mistakes.”
I felt my eyes tearing up at his words, and swallowed the sentence about divorce. I’ll tell him about that later. For now, I only wanted to hear his voice that sent me warmth and affection, embracing my heart thoroughly.
After hanging up, I spent my entire day writing the novel while chatting with Vampire at the same time. At night, I ordered food from the restaurant nearby and went again to write my Chapters. I have been working so hard these days thanks to Vampire. His words of affection and love had encouraged me so much that I couldn’t help it but give it my best.
