“Hypocritical?” Derek frowned.
The first time Derek saw Marco in the ward, he also found her hypocritical.
It had been so long since Derek met Marco last time. Derek thought that Marco became who she was now after suffering abroad.
He was shocked to hear that Serina had the same feeling.
Serina smiled awkwardly and said, “Maybe I’m jealous of Marco. I always treat her as a love rival instead of my sister. It’s my fault.”
Serina was always straightforward. Derek smiled as he stroked Serina’s head.
Serina never tried to hide her thoughts.
“It’s unnecessary to be jealous of Marco. You and Marco are different and have your own merits.”
“Really? Then tell me what’s good about me?” Serina took Derek’s arm and looked at him like a spoiled child.
“Then I have to think about it.” Derek pretended to be embarrassed.
Serina patted Derek’s arm and said, “Am I that bad that you have to think so hard?”
“I’m just kidding,” Derek said with a smile.
Serina curled her lips.
“I have to warn you. You are not allowed to meet Marco alone without my permission.” Serina turned her face to the side and continued, “Whether you agree or not, I won’t allow you to do so.”
“Are you worried that I will have an affair with Marco?”
“Yes!” Serina answered directly. Although Derek promised again and again, Serina was still worried. Especially because she knew how considerate and gentle Marco was.
Derek smiled and said, “Alright. I will never meet any woman in private without your permission. If I have to, I will ask for your permission in advance. Is that okay?”
“That’s good.”
Serina looked at Derek and asked, “Do you think I’m unreasonable?”
“I am used to it.”
“You are used to it? So you mean that I am unreasonable.”
Derek didn’t know what to say. Didn’t Serina find herself unreasonable when she asked the question?
“Even if I am unreasonable, you still have to listen to me!”
Derek had to admit that sometimes it was impossible to reason with women. Because they always had reasons.
“Alright. You are right. You are always right.”
“I won’t argue with you anymore. You can go on with your work. I didn’t sleep well last night. I want to sleep for a while.”
“Just have a good sleep. I’ll call the servant to come over and watch you in case you remove the needle.”
“OK.” Serina lay down.
She was worried last night and did not sleep well.
Seeing that Derek was as usual, Serina was relieved and soon fell asleep.
Derek asked the servant to come in and take good care of Serina.
Then Derek went out alone.
Hayden drove him to the factory.
Derek wanted to hide his whereabouts, so he only asked Hayden to come along.
The cordon had been removed and only two bodyguards were guarding the factory.
Seeing Derek come, the bodyguards nodded to him and said, “Good evening, Mr. Darion!”
Derek asked, “Has anyone come here after the police left?”
One of the bodyguard replied, “No. We have been guarding here. There are a few villages a few kilometers away. The villagers heard that someone died here and they didn’t dare to come.”
“Alright.” Derek and Hayden entered the abandoned factory together.
It was night when they came here last time. So, they did not know the factory was so large.
There was a large smudge of blood at the entrance. A chair was in the corner and there were some severed ropes beside it. Serina and the children were tied there.
Derek said, “Look around and check if there is anything suspicious.”
Hayden and the two bodyguards dispersed.
Derek looked around. He fixed his eyes on the small door of the factory and walked towards it.
He opened the door and saw a different room.
There was a large bed with red bedding. There was even a red gauze curtain, which did not match the mottled walls of the factory.
It was obvious that Zoe did this.
Derek knew what she wanted to do and sneered. He didn’t expect that Zoe still liked him.
Derek removed the quilt and the mattress but found nothing. He squatted down, took out his mobile phone, turned on the light and checked what was under the bed, but there was nothing.
Derek walked around the small room and found nothing.
He sat on the bed and carefully examined the room.
If Derek was right, he could absolutely find something here. But where was it?
Derek leaned back and felt something hard.
He immediately checked the place.
Derek tore the quilt and took out the thing inside. It was a gun.
At this time, Hayden and the bodyguards finished checking.
“Mr. Darion, there is nothing suspicious.”
Hayden saw the gun in Derek’s hand and said, “The police took away the gun. Why is it in your hands, Mr. Darion?”
Derek looked up at Hayden and said, “I found it in the quilt. Did you say that the police also found a gun?”
“Yes. The police put the gun into a plastic bag and took it away. They only found Zoe’s fingerprints on it.”
“Have you seen that gun?”
“Yes.”
Derek handed the gun to Hayden and said, “Take a look.”
Hayden took the gun and looked at it carefully. He said, “It is the same as that gun.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. When the police held the gun in their hands, I looked at it several times. They were the same.”
Hayden was very sure and continued, “Maybe Zoe prepared two guns? One for herself and the other for backup.”
“Maybe.”
Derek checked the bullets in the gun. He smiled and removed the clip.
“Don’t tell anyone that we find a gun here.”
“Yes!”
Derek took the gun and said, “It’s fine now. Let’s go back.”
