Chapter 267 Marco Is Alive

Book:You Are Smothering Me, Handsome Published:2024-5-1

“Dad, you should go find Mommy. I’m afraid that Mommy will be unhappy if she meets the woman who looks like her.”
“Why would she be unhappy to see someone who looks exactly like her?” Derek did not quite understand the logic.
“Mommy hates it when people have the same thing as hers. I remember once a writer wrote a similar plot with her novel. Mommy was very angry and deleted what she had written for a week.”
Blueberry pursed and said, “I know it’s weird, but it’s just the way Mommy is. If she met someone who wears the same clothes with her on the street, she would never put on those clothes anymore.”
Derek didn’t know that. Serina was not like this in the past.
However, he soon understood the reason.
When Serina used the pseudonym “Queen Serina,” she had been unreasonably accused of plagiarism.
No writer could stand being accused of plagiarism.
Serina was probably sick of such slander so that in real life, she could not accept having the same things with others.
“If Mommy knows that someone has the same face like her, what would she do? Would she change her face?”
Blueberry mumbled.
Derek sighed, “Blueberry, besides Mommy and me, who else does Cherry like? Does she have any friends? Is she close to the kindergarten teacher?”
Blueberry shook his head. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. “Our Godfather!”
“Ernest?”
Blueberry nodded. “Cherry adores Uncle Ernest! Because Uncle Ernest would give her anything she wants. In the past, when Mommy and Uncle Ernest went out together, Cherry always asked Uncle Ernest to carry her.”
“Okay.”
Derek had no choice but to call Ernest. He had to send Cherry to a trustworthy person before going to find Serina.
Derek felt a little awkward meeting Ernest. But he was left with no alternative.
Half an hour later, Ernest came to Polaris City.
The two men were a little embarrassed when they met.
“Don’t worry, I will look after Cherry.”
Derek looked at Ernest and said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
It was the first time they spoke to each other so politely.
Derek left. He was worried about Serina. For one thing, he did not want Serina to stay in the hospital alone. For another, he was worried that Serina would meet Marco.
When Derek rushed to the hospital, the bodyguards were standing at the door.
“Has Serina gone out?”
“No, the police came for an interrogation. Mrs. Lambert sent us to buy Shawn’s deserts,” The bodyguards answered.
“Did she go upstairs?”
“No, Mrs. Lambert was in the room when we came back.”
Derek did not pursue on this topic. He pushed the door open and walked in. Serina was sitting on the bed, lost in thoughts.
Derek was about to speak when he noticed that Serina was holding her phone.
He remained silent.
“Mom, I just want to tell you that my sister is still alive.” Serina glanced at Derek and spoke on the phone.
Derek stiffened when he heard these words.
“Alright, then come over. We’ll talk later.” Serina hung up the phone. There was no light in her eyes.
“Serina…”
“Why didn’t you tell me that she is still alive and has saved my life?” Serina looked at Derek expressionlessly.
“I… I don’t know how to tell you,” Derek said as he lowered his eyes and walked to the bed.
“Not only did you hide it from me, but you also arranged her to live in a ward upstairs and asked the bodyguards to keep me away from her. What do you mean?”
Serina challenged Derek excitedly.
“Serina, don’t misunderstand me. It’s not what you think. I just don’t know how to deal with it…”
Derek hurriedly explained.
“Don’t find excuses! I’ve no patience for that!”
“Serina, please believe me this time, okay?” Derek said worriedly, “I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I just don’t know how to explain.”
“She is my sister!” Serina roared at Derek.
Derek was silent.
It would be better if Marco was just a woman who happened to look like Serina. But she was Serina’s sister.
It became complicated.
Derek turned around and tried to hold Serina in his arms. Unexpectedly, Serina directly threw herself into his arms.
“Derek, will you leave me?”
Except for the time when Cherry was in danger, Serina had never been so panicky before.
When she first saw Marco, she was undone not by joy, but by horror.
She had been exhausted!
Derek gently stroked Serina’s back, “Why would I leave? Do you think I hid her away because I want to leave you?”
“Yes! Otherwise, why did you hide her away!” Serina tried her best not to cry. Before Derek came here, she had told herself countless times, “Don’t cry. Be brave.”
However, now in Derek’s arms, she could not hold back her tears anymore.
“Little fool! Serina, when you were pregnant, I told you that I have never seen you as anyone’s substitute. Do you forget?”
“But I was pregnant! Didn’t you say that because I was pregnant? It’s different now. She’s back and she’s still alive!”
“Of course, it’s different now. We already have two children. Do you think I will leave you now?”
Derek grabbed Serina’s shoulder and looked straight into her eyes. “Trust me. When you left me last time, I had thought it through. What is between her and me has passed with our youth. You are different. I treat you more seriously.”
Serina looked into Derek’s eyes. She believed him.
But what about Marco?
Didn’t she come back for Derek?
