Derek smiled and paced back and forth in the study.
Henry had never seen him so happy.
Derek had never expected that he was going to be a father soon.
He smiled like a child rather than who he used to be when people called him the Great Demon King.
“Mr. Henry!” Derek suddenly stopped and said.
“Yes, Mr. Derek.”
“I will go to the hotel where Serina lives tomorrow morning,” Derek said.
“Yes, sir. I will arrange it immediately and prepare some gifts for Ms. Yolanda. I believe that she will accept you for the sake of the child.”
Henry was truly happy for Derek.
It was a sleepless night.
Derek tossed and turned and just couldn’t fall asleep. He took out his phone and learned some dos and don’ts for pregnancy.
He didn’t know the gender of the baby, but he would love it, no matter it was a boy or a girl.
Perhaps, it was time to plan for their wedding. Since he had already considered Serina the love of his life, he should declare her his wife.
After making up his mind, Derek was in a state of great excitement, which every new dad would feel.
So, the night passed.
Serina and Yolanda got up early because the operation was the first one in the morning, and they needed to have a checkup first.
When it was just dawn, they went to the hospital together to get prepared for the surgery.
Sitting on the bench outside the operating room, Serina kept rubbing her hands, for this was the first time she had had an operation.
Yolanda noticed her nervousness and held her hand.
“Serina, are you nervous?” She asked.
Serina nodded, “Mom … can we keep this child?”
“Are you trying to back out?” Yolanda asked.
Serina put her hand on her belly and said, “It’s a baby.”
“I know you can’t bear to abandon it. However, you have to be aware that Lauren is so ruthless that she can do anything. She won’t recognize you and your unborn child. Don’t forget she’s the one who caused your sister’s death.”
Yolanda continued with a sigh, “I’m getting old and don’t want to fight with others. I just want you to be safe.”
Serina knew her mom’s pain that one of her daughters, who she had been looking for many years, had been killed, and another daughter might follow her steps.
She had no choice.
Serina leaned on Yolanda’s shoulder and said, “Mom, don’t be sad. After the operation, I will go back with you and write novels at home. My dad has abandoned me, anyway.”
“Good girl.” For the first time, Yolanda realized that her daughter had grown up.
A nurse came out and said, “Serina can come in for the operation.”
Serina looked at Yolanda and stood up, “Mom, I’m going.”
Yolanda fought tears, for she knew how harmful an abortion was to a woman.
“Don’t be afraid. I will wait for you outside.” She spoke.
Serina forced a smile and followed the nurse.
Abortion was common in the hospital, but Serina got special care thanks to a doctor friend of Yolanda.
Derek got up early, but he knew that Serina always slept late in the morning, so he stayed at home for a while longer and wore a formal suit. Then, he went to the hotel where Serina stayed.
After they arrived, Henry went to the hotel reception first.
“Can you help me check the room number of Mrs. Serina?” he asked.
“Mrs. Serina?” The receptionist recalled and answered, “She has already checked out early this morning.”
“Checked out?”
Derek frowned slightly.
“Yes. When I just came on duty this morning, they checked out.” The receptionist confirmed.
“Do you know where they went?” Derek asked.
The receptionist shook her head, “I’m not sure about this, but…”
“But what?” Derek asked urgently.
“I heard the elderly woman remind the younger one not to eat anything in the morning because she needed to take blood tests before the operation.”
“Did you just say an operation?”
Derek only felt a bolt from the blue shock him.
Serina was just pregnant. If she was going to have an operation, it must be an abortion.
No wonder she didn’t tell him about her pregnancy. It turned out that she didn’t want this child at all.
“How long have they been gone?” Henry asked.
“It’s been more than two hours.” The receptionist answered.
It’s been this long!
“Mr. Derek…” Henry looked at Derek.
“Find out which hospital she is in right now!” Derek commanded.
He then walked out and got in the car.
Henry called the major hospitals immediately and asked them to find a patient named Serina.
In less than ten minutes, Henry got the information.
“Mr. Derek, she is in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital,” Henry told him.
“Come on!” Derek roared.
The driver set up at the hospital immediately.
But Henry sighed and said nothing.
He knew that an abortion surgery only took an hour, but they had already checked out for two hours. Besides, the hospital was not far from the hotel.
That is to say, even if Derek arrived, the operation had already been done.
Unfortunately, the road to the hospital was always in traffic jams during peak hours.
The driver was so anxious that he kept sweating because he knew that Derek was in a hurry.
He said, “Mr. Derek, this road is always in a traffic jam at this time. We have to be stuck in it for a while.”
“Is there another way?” Derek roared in a low voice.
“Yes, there is. But we are stuck in the middle of the road now. We can’t reverse.” The driver answered.
Derek saw that the road was completely blocked through the window.
He suddenly opened the door and got out.
“Mr. Derek!” Henry shouted, “Don’t…”
Without hesitation, Derek ran towards the hospital.
It was not too far by driving but still a long way to go on foot.
Derek just ran all the way.
‘Serina, don’t do anything stupid. Please wait for me!’
‘Don’t abandon our baby!’
‘I love you!’
‘You have never been a substitute for anyone.’ Derek kept crying in his mind.
