Chapter 167 Where Is She?

Book:You Are Smothering Me, Handsome Published:2024-5-1

Derek did not expect Yolanda to ask about Marco. He thought that Yolanda was just seeking justice for her daughter.
“She…”
“Where is she?”
“Ms. Yolanda, Serina, and I are already married. So, you should be my mother-in-law. Could you please leave this to Serina and me?”
“We’ll talk about that later. I am asking about Marco now!” Yolanda slapped the table somewhat anxiously.
“She is…” “She’s no longer here,” Derek sighed.
“No longer here?” Yolanda and Serina looked at each other.
“What do you mean by no longer here?”
“She has passed away,” Derek replied.
“Passed away?” Yolanda felt dizzy. “Are you saying that she’s dead?”
Derek nodded.
“What about her family? Her parents, are they still alive?” Serina asked.
Derek didn’t quite understand why Serina and Yolanda came to ask about Marco. It didn’t seem to have anything to do with their marriage.
“Say something! Which family is Marco from?”
Even if Marco died, Serina had to know if she was her sister!
“Marco was abducted. Her adoptive parents are suspected of purchasing and abducting children illegally. Her adoptive father was sentenced to life imprisonment. Her adoptive mother couldn’t stand such a blow and committed suicide. Marco grew up in an orphanage.”
After listening to Derek’s narration, Yolanda was even more determined that Marco was her daughter!
“Then, do you know about the orphanage?”
Derek ordered a pen and paper, wrote down the address, and handed it to Serina.
“Mom, let’s go to the orphanage.” Serina stood up and pulled Yolanda up from the sofa.
Yolanda nodded.
“Mom, you go back to the car first. I have a few words to say to him.” Serina stopped after they took two steps toward the door.
Yolanda looked at Serina and nodded. “Serina, you have grown up. I won’t meddle with your things. Go ahead but be prudent.”
“Alright.” Serina returned to the living room.
Seeing that Serina had returned, Derek was somewhat overjoyed. He immediately stood up and walked to Serina.
Just as he was about to pull her arm, Serina shook him off.
“Did your mother kill Marco?” Serina’s expression was unusually calm.
Derek was stunned. “Serina…”
“You just have to answer me, yes or no.”
“Yes.”
Serina nodded. Perhaps, after knowing all of this, Serina understood many things.
“Marco,” Serina paused and bit her lips. “She might be my twin sister.”
“What did you say” Derek looked at Serina in shock.
“I only found out yesterday that I have a twin sister. Let’s talk about our matters in a few days.” With that, Serina quickly turned around.
Serina didn’t eat anything in the morning. She had no appetite these days. Under Yolanda’s persuasion, she barely drank two mouthfuls of porridge.
The next second, she went vomiting.
She was followed by another wave of retch.
Her stomach was empty.
“Are you alright, Serina?”
Serina quickly dashed away as if hiding some secrets.
Derek wanted to stop her but to no avail.
His mind was also in a mess.
Derek was also completely shocked by the fact.
They were twins!
Wasn’t this a little too ridiculous?
If that was the case, Yolanda would be even less likely to agree to let them be together. After all, Marco was indeed murdered by Lauren’s people.
Derek was still unable to accept so many things at the moment.
Serina was the same.
She wanted to tell Derek about her pregnancy, but now it seemed that telling him about it would only add to their troubles.
Serina herself understood that if Marco was killed by Lauren, and if Marco was her sister, then it was even more impossible for the two of them to be together.
Yolanda and Serina immediately got into the car and went to the address that Derek had written down. They found the dean of the orphanage.
Unfortunately, Marco had left the orphanage for too long. And they searched for a long time before finding her information.
The information recorded where Marco came from, her height, and weight.
However, it was not enough to prove that Marco was Yolanda’s daughter.
Just as they were at their wits’ end, the dean suddenly had an idea.
“I remember!”
“What?” Serina and Yolanda asked in unison.
“Marco came in as a child abductor. There was a policy that year to set up a file for those children, so it may be useful for finding their parents. And they collect the children’s hair!”
“Hair?”
“That’s right. If the kids were kidnapped and sold since they were young, the parents are unlikely to remember their faces. So, to make it easy for the DNA test, they left a strand of hair. I will immediately contact the police station to see if they have any information left!”
The dean was a kind person. He immediately contacted the police station and got a definite answer.
In the afternoon, Yolanda received all of Marco’s files, including that strand of hair.
Serina accompanied Yolanda to do the DNA test. They needed to wait for a day until they could see the result.
After a busy day and a bumpy journey, Serina began to vomit as soon as she returned to the hotel.
Yolanda quickly poured a glass of water for her while gently patting Serina on the back.
“Mom, go out. I’m fine.” Serina leaned on the toilet and refused to let go.
“Being pregnant means suffering. I had gone through the same when I was pregnant with you.” Yolanda stood up and walked out of the bathroom.
The phone in Serina’s pocket rang. She took it out and found it was Derek calling.
After a moment of hesitation, she answered the call.
“Hey…”
She wanted to answer the phone calmly, but she couldn’t help vomiting.
“Serina, are you alright?”
Serina vomited for a while before answering the phone again.
“Didn’t we agree to give you a check-up? I’ll take you there tomorrow.”
“No, I’m fine. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up.” Serina immediately hung up.
On the other end, Derek wanted to inquire about whether Marco was Yolanda’s daughter, but he was hung up.
But hearing Serina’s vomit, he began to worry about Serina’s health.
