“Mom, Yurem!” Serina waved to them.
Yurem and Yolanda walked to the pond.
Derek stood up with his hands on his waist and nodded at Yolanda. “Hello, Ms. Gill.”
Yolanda smiled at him. She thought Derek looked pretty good.
He was handsome and well-behaved. He also had a good temperament. Though he was a little cold and distant sometimes.
“You look much better now.”
“Thank you for your concern, Ms. Gill. I am much better now,” Derek said politely.
“No wonder. Serina has cooked all kinds of soup for you,” Yurem interrupted.
Derek glanced at Yurem who seemed to dislike him.
“The soup I made was very nutritious!”
Serina said proudly.
“Serina, Yurem and I have something to do. See you.”
“See you.”
They watched Yolanda and Yurem leave.
Derek turned his head to Serina and said, “Your mother…”
“What? She is very beautiful, right? She has a good temperament and a nice figure!”
Derek laughed at Serina’s words and said, “I think she looks familiar. I may have seen her somewhere before.”
“Really?”
Serina squatted down beside Derek’s feet excitedly. “It’s said that if one feels familiar when he first met somebody, it meant they were destined to meet.”
“Okay.”
Derek still felt that Yolanda looked very familiar. He should have seen her somewhere before.
But he really couldn’t remember where they met.
“And who is that man just now?”
“Yurem is my mother’s godson. So, he is my brother!” Serina blinked her eyes.
“Your brother? He seems to dislike me,” Derek snorted.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
Serina looked in the direction where Yolanda and Yurem had left and felt puzzled.
“Is he nice to you?” Derek changed the topic.
“Sure, Yurem has been very good to me since I was a child. I only come back once a year but he always played with me.”
Derek snorted. No wonder Yurem was unfriendly to him.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Give me the phone. I want to make a phone call.”
It was about time to contact his family now that he had almost recovered.
Derek called Henry. Henry and Hayden had searched every corner of City Z to look for him. Fortunately, Lauren was abroad, or she would be mad at them.
Henry and Hayden came here very fast. They arrived at Yolanda’s home that night.
Because they were in Yolanda’s house, Derek kept a low profile and only asked Hayden to bring over some urgent documents. He read them in the bedroom.
When Hayden learned that Serina was the daughter of Yolanda, the president of the Benevolence and Justice Society, he was overjoyed.
“Mr. Derek, I didn’t know that Ms. Serina is Ms. Gill’s daughter. Our problem can be solved easily now!”
Henry was puzzled. “Is the Benevolence and Justice Society so powerful?”
“Mr. Henry, City S had been abandoned since the end of the Qing Dynasty. The government didn’t manage it and it had been in chaos until the establishment of the Benevolence and Justice Society. The local people trust it. Even if there are police now, it still has great power here.”
Henry nodded.
“It is not that simple.” Derek put down the document and his eyes turned cold.
“Why?” Hayden was puzzled.
“Don’t tell Serina or the Gills about this.”
“But, Mr. Derek, we must obtain the cabotage right of S City. Otherwise, it will be very disadvantageous for the Saint Group.”
Hayden thought, ‘Besides, they are not using Serina. It’s just a coincidence.’
Derek raised his hand and Hayden immediately shut up.
“Anyway, don’t tell anyone yet.”
“Yes,” Henry and Hayden said in unison.
Then Hayden and Henry both stayed at Yolanda’s house. There were plenty of rooms available for them.
But it was not their home, so, the bodyguards all settled down outside.
Derek had been very busy these days for his injuries had delayed a lot of work.
Serina leaned on the table and watched Derek drink up the soup she made.
She looked at the stack of documents on the table and pursed her lips.
“How long are you going to work?”
“What’s the matter?”
“You have been busy for the past two days. You didn’t have rest at night. Before the soup, you haven’t talked with me for two hours and fifty-six minutes!”
Derek smiled. After being together with Serina, he smiled much more than before.
“Did you do the timekeeping?”
“Of course.”
“I have delayed much work and have to read a lot of documents now.”
“All right then. Go ahead and do your work. I won’t disturb you.”
Serina picked up the empty bowl and turned to leave.
Derek thought for a moment and looked up. “I’m a little tired. Why don’t we go out and take a walk?”
“Sure!” Serina quickly turned around and she sounded much happier than before.
Derek put the pen on the document and slowly stood up, supported by the table.
Yolanda happened to pass by outside the door and heard their conversation.
For the past few days, she had been observing Derek.
Serina took Derek’s arm and they walked out together.
Sitting on the grassland in the garden, Serina stretched herself. The sky was blue and was dotted with clouds.
Serina felt relaxed.
“I was so bored!” Serina said.
“You’re at home. You can feel free to do anything you want.” Derek sat on the grass and narrowed his eyes.
“But I don’t want to come out alone!” Serina sat next to him.
She just wanted someone to accompany her.
Serina lay on Derek’s thigh and closed her eyes.
After a while, Serina said suddenly,
“Everything is grayish-white if I’m not with my lover.”
Derek was looking at the sky, but when he heard this, he looked down at Serina.
His dark eyes seemed to be filled with emotions. He looked at her delicate face and fell into deep thought.
“Are you in love with me?”
He asked after a long time.
However, he did not get an answer from Serina. After a while, Serina tilted her head and fell asleep.
She had fallen asleep!
Seriously?
Derek smiled and smoothed away a wisp of hair from her face gently.
Not far away, Yolanda was looking at them.
Derek’s eyes were full of love. Anyone who had been in love could see that from his eyes.
His eyes overflew with love.
