The Rolls-Royce fleet soon arrived at the bus station.
Because today’s accounts had never been matched, several ticket sellers all worked overtime to check the accounts, and none of them left.
Hayden got out of the car first, and Derek followed.
Hayden walked to the window and knocked.
A ticket seller opened the window. “It’s closed.”
“Sorry, I just want to find out about a person.” Hayden took out Serina’s photo and asked, “Have you seen this person buying a ticket this afternoon?”
The ticket seller looked at it and shook his head, then passed it to several other ticket sellers, who all said that they did not know.
There was only one ticket seller who held the photo in his hand and looked at it carefully for a long time. The Serina he saw was unkempt and very different from the one in the photo.
The photo was returned to Hayden.
He looked at Hayden, who was dressed in a suit and leather shoes, and wondered, ‘Is he a plainclothes police?’
“Hey, I’m not sure about this, but there was a very suspicious girl who came to buy tickets just now! I saw her ID card at that time, and she seemed to be called Serina!”
“Are you sure?” Hayden, who had felt hopeless, suddenly raised his head in surprise.
“She was dressed in rags, with blood on her face, and her hair was messy. I was worried that she was a fugitive, so I checked her ID card. She was indeed called Serina.”
“Where did she go?” Derek asked hurriedly.
“She bought a ticket to S City. The car has departed.”
S City! She had gone to S City!
Derek immediately turned around and walked towards the car closest to him. He opened the door, and let the driver get out of the car.
He stepped on the accelerator and quickly turned the steering wheel. The car made a beautiful turn and rushed out immediately.
“Mr. Derek!” Hayden ran two steps and saw the car driving off. He was helpless.
“Quick, follow him!” He immediately got into his car.
If anything happened to Derek, he would be in great trouble!
Hayden immediately took out his phone and called Derek, but, unfortunately, the sound of the phone rang from behind him.
Derek had accidentally left his phone in the car.
It was terrible!
“Hurry up! We can’t lose him!” Hayden told the driver.
The driver immediately stepped on the accelerator.
Derek narrowed his eyes. He had an inscrutable expression.
“She was dressed in rags, with blood on her face and messy hair…”
He kept thinking about what the ticket seller had just said.
What had she experienced?
Derek did not dare to think about it. He speeded up. He had to get to S City ahead of the bus, or he would miss Serina again.
Soon, Hayden was left behind by Derek.
“Hayden, we can’t see Mr. Derek’s car anymore. What should we do?” The driver was anxious.
“Let’s drive on. Anyway, Mr. Derek is going to S City.”
The car left City Z and drove to S City. It should be three or four o’clock tomorrow morning by the time they reached S City.
When the car reached the highway, the driver stopped. “Hayden, there are two highways to S City. Which one should we take?”
“What’s the difference?”
“The ZS highway is old with only one lane and an emergency lane. If there are any traffic jams, it will be very troublesome, but it’s closer to S City. The AS highway is newly repaired in recent years. It has three lanes and seldom has traffic jams.”
Hayden thought for a moment. Derek was a perfectionist. He shouldn’t have chosen the old highway.
“Take the AS!”
“Okay!” The driver went on his way.
As for Derek, he chose the other way. He considered nothing but the distance because he wanted to catch up to the bus that Serina was on. He could only hope that there were no traffic jams on the highway!
Coincidentally, the bus also chose the old highway. The reason was that the old highway required a lower highway fee. Originally, the bus should have taken the AS highway, but it was late at night. Most of the passengers had fallen asleep, so no one would care.
The buses here were all private. They could earn more if they spent less.
The bus jolted all the way. Fortunately, it was dark and no one would notice her ripped clothes and the injuries on her face.
In the bumpy ride, Serina fell asleep.
She dreamed Derek.
When she saw Derek in her dream, somehow Serina felt at ease. Just as how she had felt when she slept peacefully in Derek’s arms suffering from period pain.
“Wake up and get off!” the conductor shouted.
The passengers gradually woke up.
It was five o’clock in the morning. The sky turned white and the air was damp.
The passengers packed up their baggage and got out of the bus one by one.
“Hey, the little girl behind, wake up, get off!” When the conductor saw that Serina did not move, he walked over and patted her on the shoulder.
Serina woke up and looked at him.
“Hurry up and get out of the bus! We have to leave!” The conductor urged.
“Oh.” Serina rubbed her eyes and got out of the bus.
This was S City’s bus station. As soon as she got out of the bus, a cold wind blew. Serina could not help but sneeze.
A rumbling sound came from her stomach.
Serina patted her stomach. It had been a long time since she had eaten anything, and she was very hungry now.
Some breakfast stalls near the bus station were open now. She was going to eat something first. She still had the money that the pretty girl had given her.
The steamed buns looked delicious, making Serina feel hungrier.
Serina swallowed and was about to buy some steamed buns.
An old lady with a five-year-old boy caught her attention.
“I want the brand new money.”
The little boy seemed to be throwing a tantrum.
“The new one is the same as the old one. If you want to eat breakfast, you should pay with it.” The old lady explained patiently.
“No. I just want the new money!” The little boy pursed his lips.
“But I only have this one!” The old lady didn’t know what to do.
Hearing this from the side, Serina recalled that when she was squatting in the corner today helplessly, a kind-hearted person had given her money. So she walked over.
“May I help you?”
“It’s just my little grandson is throwing a tantrum. He wants to eat some steamed buns, so I let him buy some with the money. But he insisted not using the brand new one, and that’s all I have in my pocket.”
