“Come on let’s leave. I’ll drop you in the dorm”, EJ suggested like nothing happened between them, while Kathleen was in the state of shock for the past few minutes after the kiss took place. She stood there like a bat blinded by the sun. Her flashbulb eyes and raised eyebrows clearly stated that she couldn’t believe EJ really kissed her.
“What? Why do you have to act like you didn’t see this coming?”, he scoffed standing in the middle of pathway and it was empty, no one was around to witness their conversation.
“Arghh… how long are you gonna act like you regret the kiss? Anyways I always knew you liked me for my charms!”, EJ smirked and this made Kathleen jump back to the reality immediately. She couldn’t believe he just said that, she never liked him like the way he thinks.
“What…? Really. Huh.. Ethan, you’ve have got about as much as charm as a dead slug”, kathleen scoffed.
“Oh really. But it didn’t feel like that when I kissed”, he taunted and she blushed in red.
“Don’t talk about the kiss again…. I warn you Ethan”, grunted kathleen looking away. Kathleen felt awkward and she was anxious this whole time. She was angry on EJ for pulling out a stunt like this in front of everyone.
There is a scream from deep within her that forces its way from her mouth but she doesn’t react to it is as if her terrified and grumpy soul has unleashed a demon. All she feel is anger, all she feel is that she want to erase the kiss from her memory because she doesn’t want the kiss to be a reason to fall for the boy whom she will never understand.
And he has been hiding a truth from himself for a very long time, he has liked kathleen ever since the day she threatened him. She was the one who wiped away his sadness and in her presence, he totally forgets his scars. Kathleen just gonna have to walk away from here, she can’t stand here anymore.
“Oh… so don’t tell me you regret our kiss!”, he squint his eyes. Kathleen go numb on hearing him say ‘our kiss’ but she knew that she can’t fall for all this.
“What…? Regret! No, that kiss made me nauseous actually!”, she scoffed making him furious.
“You can’t be serious”, huffed EJ in frustration.
“Well I’m”.
“I recall how you treated me for over a week, like I? never existed on this haven. Everytime I think you are different than all others here, you proved me wrong”, she stuttered and EJ flinch on hearing her tone. She sounded sad, disappointed and upset.
“You were the one who saw me past my flaws and stopped me from dwelling into my past life. Whenever I was about to cause a trouble, you would just randomly show up out of nowhere and you would put a halt to anything I was doing. You were like my commander safeguard, you saved me from hurting others and regretting it later”, she whispered and their gazes were locked all this while.
“Though you never really thought me as a friend, I hoped you would. As days passed on, I started wishing you would be around all the time and to tell you the truth, you were…. like…. like …… my salve”, she paused and took a deep breath.
“But the way you acted out few days back was unacceptable. I don’t deserve to be treated like that”, kathleen hissed and it was clear that she was back to beast mode.
“Yes, what I did was totally wrong. I agree”, he accepted his own fault but Kathleen was not convinced at all.
“Just Wrong?? You were totally way out of line. Like I felt worse when you treated me so”, she snapped.
“I guessed maybe I was the one who put? me into a situation like this, which I don’t deserve at all. Those words you spoke, the way you looked at me, and most of all, you believed that I would do something to tear you and Robert apart. That’s what you really think of me right?! It’s okay, I deserve it”, she leered. EJ understood that she was hurt and what he did had brought a terrible impact in her.
“Listen to me, what you said have been haunting me for a long time, I want to make something very clear to you. I have come here, to this university, to learn, to have beautiful days, to experience true friendship and love, not to tear apart two best friends. Get that into your head”, she grunted and EJ rolled his eyes.
“To say, I really wished we would be friends. Yes I know it sounds creepy and lame at the same time, ‘the great EJ being friends with a bitch like kathleen’. Some would say I am a fool to think us as friends”, she growled.
“I reached out to you for help, and what you did to me back was…. was… I couldn’t find the perfect word to describe it. There were days I almost believed you really cared about me and you were different and I cherished our good days together, I hoped you would defend me like you have always did but no. One fine day, you burst my bubble.
So call me a fool I would really accept the title for wishing things that would never happen. You would have just walked away like I’m no one to you today, why the hell did you intrude into the game and kiss me, Ethan. You are making things harder for me. I really wanted to see the good in you but I can’t take it as an excuse for me to treat me like I’m no good”, she uttered bluntly. EJ gulped.
“I’m aware of the saying that we can’t heal if we keep pretending to be hurt, that’s why I just tried to focus on other stuffs and today you show up and kiss me right before everyone. And what you think you are doing Ethan?!”, kathleen threw up her hands in the air in disapproval.
“It’s you. It’s fucking you. I cannot describe it anymore, it’s you. You are the only one that I ever want. I belong with you and you belong only with me. You are my home like I look at you and somehow I can see fifty years from now on the front of the porch of some old house in the middle of nowhere and we are together. I just need you. You are the only good thing that has ever happened to me”, EJ confessed and Kathleen’s face lost it’s blood, her jaw dropped to the floor in shock. For a minute, she thought she has to be dreaming, EJ was serious about her.
“You weren’t like any other girls around here. You were like the butterfly pretty to see but hard to catch. You walked around the campus like you owned the place. When people are scared to look in my direction, you threatened me on the first day here.
I’m just a man, I will fall for a girl someday and you made sure that you was the girl I was waiting for. The monsters in my head always knew that I would love you in the end.
You walked around with a fire in yours when the girls beat you down, there is nobody here who has ever did something like that to Rachel except you.
Then I knew I can’t stand to lose you. I was glad that you weren’t in a relationship but Robert said he liked you and I couldn’t fight for you anymore with my bestfriend. I thought you liked him too. So that’s when I planned that I should leave you both alone for good but I can’t really. I wished a miracle to happen.
Your were my storm, not the kind I would run from but the one that I would chase forever. Robert and I spoke few days back and he said he was sorry for what he did. The next day, I planned to apologize to you and spill my heart out but you were with the new boy Nathaniel”, he stated with a frown.
“I could see that he was interested in you but I wouldn’t let anyone take you away from me. You are worth whatever chaos you bring to the table, and I was sure I couldn’t love anyone more than you.
Yet I found out that you were attending Beverly’s party and she has got something planned for you and I decided to stop her and save what’s mine. But I come here and find you were about kiss him and I couldn’t hold back myself anymore. I know you well and I have seen sunshine and kindness within you. And you are mine, I’ll never let anyone touch you”, EJ expressed his heart and Kathleen felt like her heart would burst out any minute now.
“Say something. It’s humiliating to see you stand like this even after the confession”, asserted EJ. Kathleen pounced on him giving him a tight hug and she giggled like a kid. She was happy that she has found her man finally. No one can say those sweet words filled with love other than EJ.
“Hey. Do I look funny, why do you have to laugh”, he spoke through their first hug. It was a long tight hug indeed.
“No, I never knew this side of you even existed. But I had to say, it was a bit romantic though”, she chuckled making him squeeze her petite body.
“Come on, I have to take you somewhere”, he dragged her along and Kathleen’s eyes widened when she remembered Laura, she has left her alone.
“Shit, shit. Laura… I totally ditched her alone. I’ll be back”, she ran towards the party room to find it empty. Laura was gone but where….? EJ urged her to accompany him to his favorite spot and Kathleen agreed. She tried calling Laura but it went straight to her voice-mail. So, she left a message and drove off from the place with EJ.

Laura paused the song to break the awkward silence between her and Nathaniel. He saved laura from Beverly and the other bitches. Anger swelled up in her chest on seeing EJ kiss kathleen, Beverly couldn’t accept it. People started posting their moment together on the Instagram pages, Beverly expected people to throw up harsh comments on that but, to the right opposite to her expectations people congratulated them and they were shipping EJ and Kathleen.
Beverly tried to hurt Laura to teach a lesson to kathleen but Nathaniel disrupted her plan and took Laura with him before she could do anything. Laura felt a flash of relief when Nathaniel stepped in between them and Beverly couldn’t lay a slap on Laura’s cheek. Nathaniel dragged her out and they left the party in Nathaniel’s Bugatti. She couldn’t find the right words to start the conversation, so she stayed silent fidgeting her fingers.
“Ahm…. thank you… I’m grateful for what you just did…..”, she stuttered breathlessly.
“Relax. Laura. It’s okay. You don’t have to thank me. I would have done this for any girl out there”, insisted Nathaniel and Laura nodded. Her heart pricked on hearing him say that. Anyways Laura knew that she wasn’t any special to him. She could sense that she liked him not just for looks but for his heart.
“Actually, I was here today for you”, he expressed and Laura’s eyes widened so much that her whites show.? The inner Laura was jumping in joy.
“What…? I don’t get you!!”, she whispered.
“I saw your encounter with Beverly and her friends near the staircase. I saw you were afraid, scared and the girls took advantage of your state. I wanted to help you but I didn’t want to intrude into your space. So I listened and decided to help on showtime”, he shrugged.
“That’s so… that’s so….”, she stammered and he chuckled.
“That’s so sweet right?!”, he winked and she couldn’t resist the blush that took over. It was obvious that he was trying to flirt but this time with him around, she didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, in fact she liked it.
Sometimes we met a person and we just click. You’re comfortable with them and we don’t have to? pretend to be anyone or anything.
“So, Laura. tell me something about you, anything! I’m all ears”, Nathaniel tried to know her for better.
“Trust me, I’m the lamest person you will ever come across”, she rolled her eyes.
“Come on. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You look beautiful and I definitely bet you have to be a intelligent person”, Nathaniel showered her with compliments and Laura couldn’t resist the smile that escaped her lips.
“Do you have a boyfriend. Are you in love? If yes, may I know the lucky one. If not, I would be on cloud nine”, he grinned.
