Today is Jace’s coronation day. It is also my coronation but it is mainly Jace’s. I am so happy for him. Today is the day he will officially become the Alpha of the Redclaw pack. “Where are you?” I ask her.
“At the front of your apartment. I just reached,” I close my eyes and try to think of something sensible to tell her.
“I am not in my apartment right now, but I will be there in a minute,” I tell her while running my hands through my hair in frustration.
“Okay. I will wait for you,” she says and I hung up. Shit! The day just got rotten.
” What is the matter?” Jace inquires from me.
“My mom is my apartment. She has come to check on me,” I reply him while walking into the closet to look for something to put on.
“What? And you are going there to meet her right now?” he asks me.
“Yes, that is the only thing I can do,”I answer him. I grab some jeans and a sweatshirt.
“Wait. Can I come with you?”
“No, you can’t. You have to stay. It is your coronation today.”
“It is also your coronation.”
“But it is mainly for you. I have to go and deal with my mom. She may want to stay for the night.”
“What? So you are not going to be there at all?”
“What else can I do? I can’t just send my mom away after travelling that far to check on me because she was worried about me,” I tell him. He pulls at his hair and closes his eyes. I know he doesn’t want to leave. We have been looking forward to this day together and I know it will hurt him if I don’t attend the ceremony.
“Let her come over here,” he says.
“What? Are you serious?” I look at him wide-eyed, not believing he just said that.
“Let’s go pick her and bring her here. Tell her the truth that you are living here now with me,” he says.
“And let her attend the ceremony?” I can’t believe he is saying this.
“Yes, Amy. If she has any questions, we will do our best to explain to her. You know we can’t just lie to her forever. Let’s just tell her the truth before she finds out in a wrong and hurtful way,” he tells me. His eyes search mine and the truth if his words fills my mind.
“What if she doesn’t believe us?” I ask him.
“Let it be up to her whether to believe us or not. We should do our part of telling her the truth. I don’t want you to live in the guilt of lying to your parents,” he says and tears start to form in my eyes realizing how much I love this man. I jump back into the bed and embrace him in a tight hug.
“Thank you for having such a big brain,” I cry into his neck and he pats me on my back to comfort me.
