Amy
Nelly leads me behind the castle away from Dwayne and his men. Jace has remained behind to stop them but I don’t feel safe at all. How can I leave Jace behind and hide?
“No. I am going back to Jace,” I tell Nelly.
“What are you talking about. You are going to get yourself killed,” she says.
“He is alone with those monsters. I have to do something. He is going to get killed,” I try to explain to her but she just shakes her head.
“He is trying to save you. You can’t just go back. You will make things worse,” she tells me. I know what she is saying is right, but I don’t want to leave Jace’s side. He is already very wounded. I can’t stop worrying about him.
“Come on. Let’s keep going,” she pleads. I look behind me but I can’t see Jace anymore. I can’t even hear the growls of the wolves fighting. We have already gone far from the place where I left them. I nod to Nelly and she leads me away back to the back entrance of the castle. We were escaping through this way a few houses ago and now we are going back inside. The sarcasm of the situation is not even surprising.
“I think we should be safe inside,” Nelly says while opening the small wooden door for me to enter. I take a deep breath before going in.
The corridor is creepy dark inside. I don’t even know what time it is but it is certainly very late. Nelly finally finds the switch and puts on the lights. We walk through the overly long corridor and end up in the kitchen. The kitchen, surprisingly has a modern setup and gorgeous finishings. This is really a fancy kitchen. I would like to spend an entire day using all these modern supplies and equipment, but there is no time for staring.
We pass by the large dinning room towards the living room. The noise outside has died out. There are no loud growls or barking outside. What happened? Did the battle suddenly end? Has Dwayne been defeated? Is Jace fine? Questions start flowing uninvited in my mind.
I dash through the great hall towards the door.
“Where are you going?” Nelly inquires in confusion.
“I am going to find Jace,” I reply her without stopping. She begins running after me.
“Stop. You will get yourself into danger. It is not safe out there,” she pleads but I ignore her.
Something must have happened to Jace. I can feel it. I feel so restless inside. He is not alright. I reach the open doors and crash into … someone?
A tall well built man with a short beared stands in front of me. He is wearing nothing but black jeans which are soaked in blood. The sight of blood is not terrifying to me anymore. Even my white top is bathed in blood. I am sure I have never seen him before, but the small sympathetic smile he gives me makes my nerves calm a little.
He walks inside and there are others behind him. Jose follows behind him with an unconscious Sophia in his arms. She is dressed in a big brown t-shirt that I believe belongs to Jose.
I look at them as they enter with confused wide eyes. What happened? Who is this man with a short beard? Why is Sophia unconscious? What happened between Dwayne and Jace? Where is Jace?
My head is about to explode with questions but no one bothers to explain what is going on. The pack trainer enters next with a group of other warriors carrying something in there hands. It is a black wolf! Jace.
He is unconscious, or dead, I don’t know which. Patrick, Ellen and Jordan follow behind the warriors. Dwayne doesn’t come in, and neither do his beastly followers. Have they defeated him? Is he dead? If they won, why do they all look miserable?
I cover my mouth in shock as I notice the numerous open wounds on the black wolf. There is blood all over his far. Without thinking, I ran towards him and the warriors gently place him on the marble floor. Blood smears onto the floor creating stains on the fancy floor. I squat in front of him and run my hands through his soft black fur. Tears start welling in my eyes as I look at Jace in such a weak situation. He has always been a strong and lively man but seeing him very wounded and in pain really breaks my heart.
“Jace,” my voice breaks and hot tears start flowing freely down my cheeks.
“Don’t worry. He is still alive. All he needs is medical attention right now,” the deep voice of the bearded man startles me from my grieving. I turn to look at him and he gives me a firm smile.
“What about Dwayne?”
“He is gone. You shouldn’t even worry about him causing trouble anymore,” he replies.
“You mean he is dead? Like gone forever?” I ask so as to be sure. The man nods and I close my eyes in relief. This is unbelievable! The monster is gone for good. Jace won, and we don’t have to worry about him making anymore threats.
“What about his followers? Aren’t they going to cause trouble because of killing their leader?”
“Trust me. There is nothing connected to Dwayne that should bother your mind. We ha:e whipped away all his followers. The Redclaw pack has now been freed from the terrible rule of a demon,” he replies. If this man thinks of Dwayne as a demon, then he must have been worse than I thought he was.
“I have ordered for a well trained professional doctor from my pack. He should be here in a few minutes,” he says. Relief washes over me after hearing an assurance from someone that Jace is going to be fine.
“You just need to hang in there. Everything is going to be fine,” I plead to Jace within my mind.
“We need to take him upstairs to a more comfortable place where he can rest and regain his strength. We also have to clean him up and bandage his wounds,” he adds. I nod to him in agreement and they pick him from the floor.
“Can I come with you?” I ask them, half pleading.
The men first look at the the bearded man who nods. I first look around the room. Everyone that I know is here. Jose and Sophia, Patrick, Jordan and Ellen though they are all bathed in blood and covered in blood. The blood we can wash away and the wounds can heal but many have lost their lives in the battle. Life we can not being back, and there is nothing we can do about it. The park trainer and his wife, Nerola are also there. I hope they can now breath peacefully without worrying about the demon.
Jace is placed on a large and cozy king-size bed with comfortable duvets. Excess blood has been cleaned off his fur so as not to soak the bedding. The doctor comes and examines him. His wounds are cleaned and treated.
“He can’t transform into his human form since he is unconscious. We can only hope that he regains consciousness with the energy to transform. I will do more tests then and give him some pain killers,” the strern looking doctor says and then leaves the exaggeratedly spacious room to go and attend to Sophia who has been placed in another different room.
I remain in the room with the park trainer, Patrick and the kind but strong man that I have just known is the Alpha of the Full moon pack. Even for the few minutes I have known him, I already like him. He must be a very powerful and loved Alpha in his pack.
Jordan and Ellen have gone in the room where Jose is with Sophia to keep them company. The other pack members who were wounded in the battle are also being attended to by medical personnel.
“I am going back home to check on Alexa and the kids. They must be worried sick about us right now,” Patrick says.
“Take some of my men with you. You know, just in case,” Alpha Dan tells him.
“Thank you but I don’t think there is any thing that can endanger my life right now,” Patrick says with a small weary smile.
“There are not only wolves which are notorious and dangerous in the night,” the Alpha says with a secret smirk.
“Alright. I will take them,” Patrick finally says.
“We are going to check on our kids,” Menny says while holding Nerola’s hand. I nod to them.
“We’ll be back to check on him soon,” Nerola says and they then walk out of the room. Alpha Dan remains standing with his hands folded in front of his chest.
“It is very late. You should get some rest,” he says.
“No, thanks. I won’t be able to rest knowing that Jace is unconscious. I will wait for him till he wakes up,” I tell him. He gives me a small smile.
“Jace is so lucky to have you as his mate. I know that he will be a stronger Alpha with you as his Luna,” he tells me and I blush.
“Thank you for thinking of me like that,” I tell him.
“You are a strong woman. Anyway, I will go check on the others and see if they need my help. Make sure you get some rest,” he says while walking to the door.
“Okay,” I respond and he walks out. I sit on the bed and my body relaxes, all the exhaustion of the day coming back to me. Nelly had brought some snacks for me to eat but I had no appetite. I was so worried about Jace’s health. I close my eyes and they burn because of lack of rest. I look around the room and I spot a golden clock on the wall opposite the bed. It is forty minutes past two o’clock in the morning. Shit! I had no idea it was this late.
Jace stirs beside me and I immediately turn my attention to him.
“Jace! Are you awake? It is me, Amy. We are safe. Dwayne is gone,” I blubber nervously. The black wolf’s eyes flutter open. I stare into his eyes and with deep joy that he is finally awake. I hold his head in my hands and continue pleading.
“I am so glad you are finally awake. You have been unconscious for so long. I was so afraid you would never wake up.”
His eyes land on the big red stain on my shirt. He looks at me again. He starts to move and I get off the bed to give him space. I remember the doctor saying that he will be able to transform if he has the energy. I watch wide-eyed as Jace undergoes the strange process of transformation.
Finally, my handsome able-bodied man is back.
“Jace,” I call while tears begin welling in my eyes once more. I jump back onto the bed and sit on his laps, well aware that he is gloriously naked. I wrap my arms around him in a tight embrace even though I know that he is not well.
“Baby,” he says while running his hand up and down my back in a caress. All my tensed muscles relax at his touch.
“I thought I had lost you,” I tell him and tears start to flow freely down my cheeks.
“Shh. Don’t cry now. Everything is now fine. No one is going to take me away from you. I am not going anywhere,” he starts to comfort me.
I pull out of the embrace and look him in the eyes. His hands run through my hair messaging my scalp, down my temple to my cheek. I close my eyes relish the feeling of his hands on me again. It feels so good. All my hormones are awakened. I lean forward and brush my lips against his. He lifts my chin and pulls my lower lip between his lips.
“Mine,” he says in a firm possessive voice and kisses me fully on the lips. Oh, the feel of him. The way his hot mouth claims mine makes my heart sing:
Yes, Yours. I am yours alone.
