Vikram paced around his room in impatience.
It had been three days since his wife spoke to him.
She would only talk to him in front of others, and formally at that, so people didn’t doubt something was up with them.
But that didn’t count.
He wanted his relation with his wife to back to as it was.
He stopped when his wife came out in her Pajamas , ready to go to bed.
He threw caution out, as he went towards his wife, pulling her into his chest.
Keerthi stiffened when she felt her husband’s arms around her. She resisted, wanting out.
She would start crying if her husband held her like that any longer.
“I missed you”, Vikram mumbled into his wife’s neck,”Let me just hold you for a moment.”
Keerthi felt unknown warmth in her chest at her husband’s words.
She let him hug her quietly, her own arms going around his back as she snuggled into his chest.
She missed him too.
Though she was angry with her husband for falsely accusing her, she felt miserable being away from him, the thought irritating her.
She didn’t really understand her state of mind, she wanted to forgive her husband, so she could have some peace of mind, but at the same time, she didn’t want to, whenever she remembered his words.
It felt like a battle between her heart and mind.
Vikram released his wife after a few moments, gazing at her. He hated being away from his wife. The few days they hadn’t spoken screamed to him the depth of feeling he had for his wife. He wanted to give her a kiss and tell her he loved her.
Keerthi tucked a strand behind her ear, blushing unexpectedly when her husband released her, as she looked down.
Vikram felt good seeing his wife’s blushing cheeks, it had been some time they made appearance.
They settled in bed after sometime, neither uttering a word. Sleep was far off. Vikram itched to pull his wife towards him, he wanted to hold her while he slept.
Vikram turned towards his wife, hoping she had slept. He could hold her them. He was used to sleeping with her in his arms. It was weird to sleep separately.
Keerthi observed her husband looking at her. She almost thought he was going to pull her towards him when he stretched his hand, disappointed when he didn’t. Though she was upset with him, she missed him a lot.
She wanted to forgive him already, but she wanted to hear an apology and a promise before that, that he wouldn’t accuse her wrongly in the future, that he would discuss his issues with her before jumping to conclusions.
She didn’t think she was being unreasonable. That was the bare minimum her husband could do for her.
Vikram sighed, raking a hand through his hair when he felt his wife move. Did she have problem sleeping too?
“Do you want to cuddle?”, Vikram offered softly, before he could stop himself, hoping his wife answered in positive.
Keerthi’s eyes widened at her husband’s question. She blushed, looking anywhere but him.
Vikram pushed his luck, as he pulled his blushing wife towards himself.
Keerthi made herself comfortable in her husband’s arms, none of them saying a word, as they hugged each other to sleep, forgetting about their differences for a night.
**
Vikram cursed himself as he eyed his phone. He didn’t know if it was a good idea to call his wife and ask her what she liked.
He wanted to do something for her, pamper her a bit and ask her stop this silent treatment.
It was driving him nuts.
He was wrong when he thought his wife reverted when they cuddled.
She continued with her silent treatment.
Vikram thought keenly, didn’t he know one thing his wife liked?
“Of course. Lasagna”, he exclaimed.
He would try cooking for her today. That was the only thing he knew about his wife’s likes.
They seriously had to play twenty questions.
Keerthi read the message her husband had sent to her at least three times.
Come to the terrace at 7pm.
What?
She glanced at the time, it was six ten. And she was still at work, about to leave. She sighed, placing her mobile in her pocket wondering what was waiting for her in the terrace.
Vikram left office early, to cook for his wife and cajole her.
He efficiently dodged the teasing he received from his mother and brother, silencing them with a glare.
He was cooking for the first time ever.
He didn’t want to make it a complete flop due to unnecessary background music. He wanted the dish to be an average, at the least.
Keerthi came home to find her mother in law and Vihan, laughing.
She eyed her mother law suspiciously, who gave her a wide smile when she came home. What was up?
“Go freshen up. Your husband is waiting”, Sakshi patted her daughter in law’s cheek.
Keerthi grew anxious, as she went to change. She prayed they didn’t fight again.
In love with him or not, she could only take so much.
She would definitely lose it if her husband spoke anything that came to his mind. He was treading on thin ice as it is. She would give him a piece of her mind this time, if he said anything hurtful.
She wore a semi presentable attire, a blue shirt and white wide legged pants.
Keerthi went to the terrace at seven, to find her husband waiting for her.
It looked like a rooftop setting. The small cozy area in the corner of the terrace had a small sofa and two seaters with cushions, rose petals scattered on them There was a small table in the front, covered by a white satin sheet, a vase on it with a single rose. The setting looked romantic.
She walked towards her husband, dressed in a green shirt folded just below the elbow paired with black pants.
Keerthi’s heart fluttered.
Her husband looked handsome.
“Come on”, Vikram said.
Keerthi sat on the two seater, waiting for her husband to tell her what was going on.
“Let’s have dinner?”, he retrieved a vessel placed next to the couch.
“What?”
“I had planned a dinner for us here”, Vikram scratched the back of his head. Saying it aloud made it seem ten times awkward.
“Oh”, Keerthi was surprised at the sweet gesture.
Keerthi was floored when her husband served them dinner.
“You had cooked?”, Keerthi gaped, astonishment clear in her voice.
His husband was the type of person to ask her to bring him water. Him cooking was shocking.
“I tried”, Vikram grinned.
Keerthi smiled, thrilled at her husband’s efforts to pamper her. She loved it.
“Come on. Give me a feedback”, Vikram nudged his wife.
Keerthi ate a spoonful, the lasgna wasn’t bad, there was just extra sauce, making it a bit tangy.
“It’s good”, Keerthi smiled at her husband.
Vikram hoped his wife wasn’t lying when he had his first bite. It wasn’t great, but it could pass as edible.
He squeezed his wife’s hand, as they had their dinner. Keerthi was surprised to see her husband hold a chocolate pastry in his hand, after they had their food.
There was a single pastry.
Keerthi’s cheeks heated up, they had to share it. They had never exactly shared food previously.
Vikram cut a small piece of it and placed it in front of his wife’s mouth.
“I am Sorry. Forgive me?”
Keerthi’s eyes watered at her husband’s earnest apology.
Keerthi sniffed, as she shakily opened her mouth, nodding, throwing her arms around his neck after he fed her.
Vikram wrapped an arm around his wife, rubbing soothing circles on her back. Keerthi pulled back quickly though, blushing.
“Let’s finish it?”, Keerthi cleared her throat. She liked the pastry.
This time, she cut a piece of the pastry, feeding her husband. They continued taking alternate bites until the pastry was no more. Keerthi blushed, they had shared the same spoon.
Vikram and Keerthi stayed on the terrace for a little longer, taking a small walk, as they held hands.
“I never knew you were capable of being so sweet”, Keerthi teased her husband.
Vikram quirked a brow,”You don’t know a lot of my capabilities”, his tone suggestive.
Keerthi flushed, slapping her husband’s chest.
“On a serious note”, Vikram started,”Tell me if you are still upset. I want you to be normal with me because you want to, not because you are obliged to.”
Keerthi cocked a brow,”Will I continue to get special treatment if I am upset?”, she teased.
Vikram laughed, wrapping an arm around his wife’s waist,”Sure”, he rolled his eyes, tickling her.
“Stop”, Keerthi laughed,”I am fine now”, she answered his question.
“Good”, Vikram smiled.
