Mom’s coming to visit

Amy
I am so nervous when I get out of the kitchen. My body is still excited from the recent touches that Jace has been giving me. My legs are wobbly and I am slightly giddy. I wanted to ignore the call and go on with the Jace’s rewarding and all that he has in store for me, but mom hasn’t called me for a while. She could have something important to tell me.
“Hello, Amy. I’m sorry if I am disturbing you, switie,” her voice is sweet and apologetic as ever.
“No, mom. It’s fine. I wasn’t that busy,” I lie. I was actually very busy. Oh, and I have a man in my kitchen. I wonder what mom would say about that.
“I have a work seminar on Wednesday. It is going to be held in town where you are, so I want to visit you after,” she says.
“That would be great, mom. I really miss you,” I tell her.
“I miss you too, dear. That is why I can’t miss this chance to see you in your new apartment,” she says.
” Me too. I have a lot of things that I want to talk to you about,” I say.
“Oh, something interesting? Have you found a man? ” the humour is clear in her voice.
“Mom!” I grumble. She laughs from the other side of the line and I join her.
“That is not a bad thing, dear. You know you aren’t getting any younger,” she says.
“I am just twenty three,” I defend myself.
“I know that,” she fires at me.
“How are things between you and Bruce?” I ask to change the spotlight from me.
“Things are going great. He is a great guy you know. I will tell you more when I get there,” she says.
“You are making me more expectant,” I say.
“Oh, I am expectant too,” she says. I can tell she is smiling from the other side of the line.
“See you Wednesday,” I tell her.
“Is it Wednesday yet?” she wonders and I laugh.
“Almost,” I reply.
“Bye dear,” she says and hangs up.
I am grinning like a giddy teenager when I get off the phone. I turn to get back to my man, but he is already waiting for me on the kitchen entrance. He is leaning against the wall with his legs crossed and hands folded in front of his chest.
“Someone looks happy,” he says. I think he has been watching me for a long time.
“Mom is coming to visit,” I tell him. I take slow steps toward him.
“When’s she coming?” he asks me.
“Wednesday,” I reply.
“Oh, that’s soon,” he says.
“I know but she has a work seminar in town so she can’t miss the chance of checking on me,” I reach him and he wraps his hands around my waist.
“Nice mom,” he smirks.
“She is,” I brag.
“Is she like you?” he asks and I raise a brow at him.
“Because if she is, then I would really like to meet her,” he says. I swat his arm playfully and giggle.
“That is such a beautiful sound,” he whispers.
“What?”
“When you giggle, it is such a beautiful sound that I love to listen to all day,” he says. I can’t help biting my bottom lip. It is already swollen from Jace’s kiss. There is a sweet tingle of pain where Jace bite me. I kinda like it and I would really want Jace to do it every time he kisses me.
“I think your mom was a great woman,” I say, without having any idea what else to say. Sophia told me that she had passed away when Jace was very young.
“Yeah, she was,” he says with sadness in his voice. He looks down at the floor and kicks lightly at the wall behind him. He looks lost in thoughts, and it is clear from here that the thoughts are not good at all. I don’t like the state he is in right now. I can’t imagine Jace having a breakdown in front of me. I have to do something. I can’t just stand there and watch him with mere pity. I reach him and touch his cheeks with my palms. They are soft and sad. I Iike them rough and dimpled. I lift his head softly so that he can look at me.
“Hey, please look at me,” I implore him. He looks at me with a blunt glare.
“Jace, come back to me. I am here for you. Talk to me,” I beg. Jace blinks and unfolds his hands from his chest. He runs the back of his hand softly against my cheek.
“Amy, baby,” he says. His voice is so low, almost inaudible. It isn’t the first time he has called me baby today, but it still surprises me. I like it though.
“Jace,” I search his eyes for any clue about what just happened to him but they don’t give anything away. Maybe I just don’t know how to read eyes.
Without saying anything, his lips crush on mine and he pulls me into a hot and urgent kiss. I don’t pull away. I just let him take all I have to give. I hope this makes him feel better. He carries me and I wrap my legs around his waist. He pushes me against the wall and kisses me even harder. I rummage my hands through his hair and he moans into my mouth. I slight tingle of pain and taste some blood on my tongue. Jace has bitten me once more and this time it feels even hotter than before.
“Amy,” he whispers against my lips.
“Talk to me,” I ask him.
He releases me reluctantly and puts me down so I can stand on my feet.
“I am sorry, Amy. I just had a bad memory,” he says.
“Do you want to talk about it?” I inquire from him.
“I really don’t want to bother you with my past,” he says.
“It is okay, Jace. You can tell me anything. As long as it will make you feel better,” I want to show him that he can trust me with anything, even when it is an ugly secret from the past.
“We can sit on the couch,” I offer.
I lead Jace to the big couch in the living room. He sits down and gathers me in his lap.
“I really had a difficult childhood. My father died when I was seven and my mom a month later,” he says. I can imagine a small seven year-old Jace who has been orphaned in two months. It must have been really hard for him.
“I had Jose, Patrick and Jordan. Their families were very nice and caring. It took me a long time recovering from the trauma, but they were very supportive,” he says. He closes his eyes and pinches them shut.
“I loved my parents. They were the only treasure in my life and as a child, they were all I looked up to,” he continues the sad tale.
“Am sorry, Jace,” my eyes feel watery. I might cry any moment soon.
“Don’t be. That happened and it is now my past. I have moved on. I am looking forward to the future,” he looks calmer. He tucks strands of hair behind my ear. I lean into his chest and breath in my favorite scent. We stay like this for sometime.
“Are you feeling better now?” I ask him.
“Mmm,” he hums into my hair and pulls me closer into him. I reach for his cheek and give him a soft caress. This feels so peaceful. Me and Jace, cuddling on the couch. I wish I could stay in this bubble with Jace forever.
