Chapter Forty-Three

Book:Impossible Mates Published:2024-5-1

The jury went to come up with a verdict, but it was taking forever, someone got me a change of clothes, I was still wearing a smart dress black dress, just not a huge wedding dress, I sat at the table with Ryan’s parents, Ryan brought a chair and sat next to me.
“Have you both been eating enough?” His mother asks, making us both look at each other smiling rolling our eyes, we didn’t even realise my family were walking over.
“Oh Savannah you have been getting enough sleep haven’t you, remember last time you nearly fell down the stairs from lack of sleep,” his mother says, as my parents walk around giving me a concerned look.
“Okay that was one time when they were away, I didn’t sleep for like 48 hours and ended up nearly falling down the stairs, but I didn’t” I smiling, it was weird both of my families were now standing around one table.
“You didn’t answer my question,” she says giving me a look, I sigh and shake my head saying nope, I haven’t been having much sleep I mean I was basically held hostage, she shakes her head in disproval but smiles taking my hand in hers not really mad.
“Ryan son why are you crying?” His dad asks which makes me look up at Ryan and he was indeed crying, I reach other taking his hand.
“I know if they find you guilty this will all end again, I just want things to go back to normal, mum harassing us about eating healthy and sleeping and dad just reading his newspaper laughing at Savannah getting annoyed” he cries, which makes tears begin to prick my eyes “and at the end of the day mum and Savannah would make up and we’d all drink hot chocolate, watching old movies that dad would pick out, why can’t it go back to that?” He cries, I move my chair over wrapping him in a hug his parents walk over wrapping us both in a group hug.
“Whatever happens we’ll still care about you two so much,” his mother says holding back her own cries.
“Yeah, and will you really miss your mother’s homemade hot chocolates, they were always a bit watery and too much milk?” His dad asks making us all laugh, but his mum look up shocked.
“What happened last time you made it? You forgot the chocolate mix” she says which was true,  don’t know how he managed to do that.
“it was nice watery milk” I smile which makes them all laugh as the jury walks back in, I smile up to Ryan who kisses me on the forehead before following my family back to their seats, I move my chair back around to sit next to his parents who sat there nervously.
One juryman stands up straight his hands by his sides, I look up at Ryan who was wiping his tears my mum had her arm around him, I smile turning back around we all had to stand up to see hear.
“Has the jury made a decision?” The judge asks, he nods yes I look at Ryan’s parents, wow I’ve never been so nervous in my life before.
“How do you find Racheal, guilty or not guilty?” The judge asks, I look over at Racheal who didn’t look fazed.
“Guilty,” he says which made Rachel’s mood change immediately
“Guilty are you serious! I was looking out for my family, no I’m not going anywhere!” She shouts which made guards hold her down, so she wouldn’t run off.
“How do you find Mr Wilson, guilty or not guilty?” The judge asks ignoring Racheal, I held Ryan’s parent’s hands looking down at the table.
If they say guilty for the rest of their lives their gonna be stuck in that prison, when Ryan and I have kids they’ll only see them behind bars.
“Not guilty,” he says, at his point I could cry I look over at his dad he was crying, already thanking me over and over again.
“How do you find Mrs Wilson, guilty or not guilty?” The judge asks, I held tightly into her hand looking at the table once again.
“Not guilty,” the juryman says immediately I was wrapped in a hug his mother also thanking me over and over again, I turn back to see Ryan hugging my parents crying this was amazing news!
The court fell silent again the judge was about to decide Rachel’s sentence, she stands still fighting against the guards
“Racheal you are sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole,” he says which makes Racheal once again go crazy, the guards had to drag her out of the courtroom as others led Ryan’s parents and I out of court the back way.
Once we get outside, I’m picked up and spun around by Ryan who was so happy.
“I can’t thank you enough Savannah, you’ve just saved my parents from being locked up for life,” he says putting me down tears in his eyes.
“Our parents” I smile hugging him,  I look over Ryan’s parents and mine are talking smiling at each other.
Wow this couldn’t have gone better.
