He had bite marks all over his neck and arms and his face was bruised and battered where he had been hit. Bitter anger filled her. The beast and vampire rose up against her mental barriers and challenge her for control once more. No, she snapped at them inwardly and once more forced back as the vampires walked her up to Silvano.
“Lily I knew it wouldn’t take you long to find me… once you had the right motivation,” Silvano told her with a cold smile.
“This was a big mistake, Silvano,” she told him in a cold, calm tone, but he laughed at her, obviously not taking her seriously. Anger filled her to the point she was shaking from it. The beast and vampire, seeing this as weakness apparently, tried to wrestle the control from her.
Let us at him! We’ll make him see how foolish he is to laugh at us, they whispered, almost seductively, to her.
“I said no! This is my fight,” she shouted and slapped the side of her head forcing them to back down again.
“So Lily let us talk about the terms of your surrender,” the vampire king demanded. She jerked as a result of her struggle with the two.
“There is no surrender,” she growled through clenched teeth. Tired of her monsters treating her as inferior. Lily attacked the four vampires around her then just as quickly she unsheathed the dagger and decapitated all of them like it was second nature. Now back off! I can handle this, she told the beast and vampire inside her.
“I must say I am impressed,” Silvano said though his tone suggested otherwise. “But as you see I have your mate here and I could easily kill him and your child,” he told her.
We won’t let him harm our mate nor our pup! Let us kill him! They insisted, pushing on the edges of her mind again and causing her to stumble.
“Stay out of it,” she told them and shook her head.
No, you need us! We’re stronger than you! We killed Bianca, we killed the vampires! You fought the king and lost already! Let us take over!
“No! Just shut up! I can do this,” she shouted holding her head, feeling it becoming more difficult to keep control.
“Well now this is unfortunate,” Silvano said with a sigh. “You are finally following the paths of every other hybrid,” he said with clear disappointment. She growled at him. She was not going insane! See what you two have done, she thought as she pointed the guns at Silvano.
“Behave Lily or I’ll kill your mate,” Silvano warned her.
“Do it, I don’t give a fuck about him. Never have and never will,” she snapped back at him.
No! What are you saying he is our mate, we need him! Even you care for him though you won’t admit it! You can’t seriously be thinking of allowing the vampire to hurt him?
“No,” Lily snapped at them.
We don’t believe you! You’re not strong enough We won’t let harm come to him. We want control!
“Damn it! I said no! Now be quiet,” Lily yelled again.
You can’t protect our mate!
“I said shut up,” she shouted once more using all her willpower to push them back deep down inside of her. They were distracting her and it was going to cost them everything!
Lily turned back to Silvano, glaring at him with more hate than she ever thought possible. “But I promise you Silvano that if you do kill him. You will regret it,” she warned him, meaning every word of it.
Silvano gave her a look like one would give a rabid animal and satisfaction filled her. “Lily,” he started, but she refused to listen to any more of what he had to say. The time to act was now and she took out the guns she brought with her and started firing at him. Her already poor aim seemed to have gotten much worse and she noticed James had fallen to the floor covering his head. She hit Silvano in the arm and smiled when he cried out in pain.
Now empty, Lily tossed the guns aside and charged the vampire king. She attacked him with wild ferocity, her anger fueling every hit, but Silano seemed to be easily brushing off her attacks. She must still be worn out from the physical effort the beast and vampire caused when they took over her last night and then pushing her control during the day. Before she realized it, her energy was gone and she collapsed to her knees, panting heavily.
“You’re no match for me, Lily,” Silvano teased her and she looked up at him, anger marked her face, hating that every word of it was true. She wasn’t strong enough to go against him, at least not in her current condition. Even her beast and vampire grew calm and passive. They knew too that now none of them had the energy to best the vampire king.
