Lily walked up to the cottage style home and knocked on the door. An elderly woman answered the door quickly. “Oh hello, how may I help you, Miss,” she asked in a sweet tone.
“Yes, is this Greg Malcolm’s home,” she asked and the elderly woman nodded.
“Greg some nice young lady is here to see you,” she called out and Lily couldn’t stop a small smile on her face.
“I assume, you’re here about James?” He asked, closing the door behind him. “I’ll tell you what I told the alpha this morning at the medical ward. James never came by my house yesterday.” Lily took a quick sniff and easily caught James scent.
“Look at me,” she demanded and he did so but with a confused expression. With a slow breath, Lily trapped him in her persuasion. “Greg, when did you last see James,” she asked him, his face blank and devoid of emotion.
“Yesterday,” he said dully.
“What happened Greg when you talked to James,” she asked, watching his face for any clues as well as what he spoke.
“I hit him and gave him a sedative,” he replied, his voice still stoic and dull.
“Why did you hit and sedate James,” she asked him, keeping her voice calm and relaxed despite the desperation she felt.
“He told me to,” came his response, sounding almost robotic. “King Silvano,” he added when she asked who.
“Why did he tell you to do that,” She insisted, wishing he’d give her a little more than one to three worded answers.
“I had to take James to see Silvano,” he said plainly.
“You’re doing very well Greg. Now I need to know where you took James. Where did Silvano tell you to take him,” Lily told him and once more, like a creature devoid of all emotion, he told her the address. She couldn’t believe it, it was one of the historic manors, but those were the first buildings the Aequivalere had searched. How could Jessie and the others miss Silvano there?
“Thank you, one more thing. Have you seen my son A. J.,” she asked and with the same monotone voice he told her that he hadn’t. Damn it! Where was he! Where did those bastards have her son? Refusing to give into her despair she turned back to the omega. “Greg, you are now free of my persuasion,” she told him, releasing him, and Greg shook his head then got a horrified look on his face.
“Oh my God! What did I do,” he said with shock and turned a sickly white color. “I’ve betrayed the pack and my Beta,” he cried in anguish, holding his head in his hands.
“No Greg,” Lily told him sharply, placing her hands over his and forcing him to look at her. “You were persuaded Greg. No one can resist his persuasion, not even me. Tony, James, hell everyone, knows that,” she told him and he looked a little comforted but not much.
“Look I’ve got to ask you a favor,” She said and he nodded, still looking awfully white. “Tony has told me to stay home and rest, but I can’t Greg. James and my son are with that monster now as we speak. I don’t think Tony can even stop Silvano if I’m honest. I’m going to go get them but could you wait a few hours until you tell Tony what I helped you remember?” She asked him.
Greg looked conflicted but after a moment he nodded. “Okay Lily, I’ll wait a while. We don’t want anyone else getting hurt,” he said and Lily smiled at him, walking over and giving him a hug.
“Thank you, Greg, I really appreciate it,” she told him and gave him a kiss on the cheek, making him blush bright pink, before walking down the porch steps and to her car. She felt the tug her beast and vampire sides as they once again were trying to take over. “Quit it,” she hissed at them. It’ll be dark soon, we have to find our mate, a soft voice whispered inside her head.
“I’m going damn it,” she swore loudly as she started the car. It took her awhile to find the place and she wasn’t sure she had found it when the small road she had been driving on ended at a large elegant gate. She parked the car in front of the gate and felt them pull on her control again. “Will you stop that,” she demanded as she walked up towards the gate where two vampires stood. She held the gun tucked in her pants at the small of her back ready to fire.
“Go on Hybrid, the king has been expecting you,” one of them said, opening the gate. Okay, that’s weird; she thought but gave the guard a stern nod taking her hand off the gun. She walked through the gate where four vampires waited for her.
“This way,” one of them said opening a door to a luxurious sports car and Lily gave him a skeptical look. “The king’s estate is quite a distance from the main gate Hybrid. You need fear no harm from us. The king has issued strict orders that you are to arrive before him unharmed,” he explained. Lily shrugged and thought what the hell as she got into the car.
He wasn’t kidding about the distance; it took them nearly fifteen minutes driving to get to the large mansion. Holy crap, she thought, gawking at the building before her. How would she ever find James in this place… if he was even there?
She felt the beast and vampire tugged at her again. We can take care of that pathetic vampire, let us take him! The voice whispered to her once more. She shook her head and held the leashes of her inner monsters tighter as she followed the vampires through the elegant house. This was a trap, she realized immediately but kept going. Trap or not, she had to stop Silvano from hurting the A. J. or James, no matter what the cost.
They opened a pair of elegant double doors and Lily walked into a large elegant room that took her breath away with its beauty. At the end of the room, Silvano sat in a large chair at on a slightly elevated platform. Oh, how regal, she thought sourly. God, he did love to flaunt! She also saw James chained in silver not far from the vampire king. She discreetly looked him over from under her lashes.
