“She’s enthralled,” Dorin said stepping away from her and turning to face James and the others. “It happens every time we drink from a living creature. It’s like being high or having an orgasm but it last longer and is more intense. How long and how intense depends on the type of creature we drink from. The stronger or more powerful the creature, the longer and more intense the enthrallment is,”
“Is she dangerous,” Tony asked and Lily felt her irritation rise.
“I’m always dangerous,” she replied with a snarl but once again no one seemed to be listening to her.
“Dangerous doesn’t even begin to describe her in this condition,” Dorin said with no hint of amusement. “It’s in everyone’s interest that she comes out of it as soon as possible,” then he nodded to Donovan. The fairy walked towards her and cracked his knuckles.
“Wait a second… what’s he going to do?” James demanded and Lily glared at the fairy.
“Don’t worry beta, she’ll be good as new when I’m done with her,” Donovan said with a sly smile. Her head snapped to the side violently and she slumped in the chair as blood filled her mouth as his fist slammed into the side of her face. Her vision blurred and it seemed even her brains had gone scrambled. She could hear muffled yelling and the sounds of someone fighting, but it was impossible for her to sort out anything.
Lily groaned, feeling as if she was just waking up from the worst hangover in history. Her head pounded, her mouth was dry and sticky with her own blood. The light hurt her eyes so she could barely open them. Where was she? She clenched her eyes tight trying to remember where she was and how she got there. The last thing she remembered was talking with James in the woods… then…. what? What happened in the woods?
Silvano! Her mind screamed and she remembered that he had ambushed them. “Oh no, no, no, no,” She groaned and she felt someone touch her. “Stay away from me,” She yelled and tried to move away but couldn’t seem to move.
“It’s okay Lily. It’s me Andrew. You’re safe and at home,” she heard her father say softly and she stilled, trying to open her eyes. Everything was still a little blurry and her lip hurt like hell.
“Silvano found me and James in the woods,” she said panicked and was surprised when he didn’t seem surprised but simply nodded his head.
“We know, James told us what happened,” Andrew explained.
“Why did he make you drink from him Lily,” Dorin demanded causing her to wince. She also had one killer headache.
“He found out that I’m different… and seemed to think I’d be useful… as his little pet… as his blood bound whatever that is,” she explained slowly and Dorin’s look of horror made fear bubble up inside her.
“His blood bound? Are you sure that’s what he said?” Dorin asked her and she nodded.
“What is it, Dorin? What is a blood bound?” Lily asked, but part of her wasn’t sure she wanted to know the answer.
“Blood Bound is a vampiric bond. In the old days, we used it on humans. It would only take once for a human to develop an obsessed love with the vampire and become addicted to their blood like a junkie is addicted to heroin. The human would do anything the vampire asked no matter what. The big downside is the enthrallment is too intense for most of them so the majority go insane shortly after,” Dorin started to explain.
“It was also used between vampires as a show of loyalty or as a proof of affection, but it’s fallen out of practice. I’ve only seen it once,” Dorin finished and Lily felt like she was going to get sick. “This explains why you were so deeply enthralled,” Dorin stated with a frown and Lily remembered the last time she became enthralled.
“I didn’t hurt anyone did I?” She asked worriedly.
“Not really, besides the little love bite you gave your wolf,” Donovan told her with a light, playful tone and Lily glared at him.
“He’s not my wolf and I’m still mad at you,” she snapped back at him.
“Donovan we still don’t know this has affected her. Let’s not take any unnecessary risks,” Dorin told him and Donovan’s playful expression disappeared.
“How does this affect her being a hybrid and how do you think her body will react, like a human or a vampire,” Tony asked, clearly worried and Lily’s eyes opened wide as she processed the ramifications of each.
“I don’t know,” Dorin explained. “I’ve never heard a blood bond being created with a lycan and since she’s little of both, your guess is as good as mine. I can see the bond has affected her vampire/lycan balance, but it’s fresh and not fully formed so it’s too early to tell about long term consequences. I highly doubt there would be any addiction or insanity which is normal amongst humans as Lily isn’t human anymore,” he said then turned to Lily once more.
“But Charlie will be here tomorrow and will regularly visit from here on out. You’re more vampire now Lily and you know what that means. Donovan is going to stay within close proximity twenty-four/seven. If possible, he should stay in the house,” Dorin told her and the alpha. She nodded, resisting the urge to comment on how useful Donovan had been up until now.
“Can we unchain her now,” Sandy spoke up for the first time. “I hate to see her like that,” she argued. Dorin thought for a moment then looked at Lily.
