Book:Amber's Story Published:2024-5-1

Amber takes off to the firehouse. Not paying any attention to her speed until a motorcycle cop comes up behind her with his lights and siren on. She pulls over.
“You going to a fire, lady?”
“No, to the fire station, Officer.”
“What’s the rush, you have a problem?”
“No problem Officer, I was in a hurry to get there.”
“Husband work there?”
“No…a guy, I want to tell I love him.” She blurts it out hoping to speed up getting her citation, so she can get going.
“The fire station up the street? What’s the lucky guy’s name?”
“Matt”
“Matt, the captain in that station? I don’t want to get in the way of true love, so I’m only going to give you a warning today but try to keep it under 100, please.” The police officer thinks for a minute then adds, “I have a better idea, maybe you should follow me.” The officer gets back on his motorcycle, turns on his red lights, and motions her to follow.
She follows him and turns on the side street behind the fire station, where there is a training session going on with the fire fighters. The police officer turns off his lights, gives her a thumbs up, and drives off. Amber parks with all the fire fighters watching. She jumps out of her car and heads toward Matt.
Matt steps forward a little. “What’s this all about?”
“He gave me a police escort because…I told him I love you, and I had to tell you right now!” Her upper lip is quivering, and small tears are forming in her eyes. “I want you, a house with a white picket fence, a couple kids, and a dog.”
“I need to make my life more exciting and more complete. Hanging out with a fire fighter is just what I need.” Amber has put it all out there. It is all or nothing.
Matt steps forward and holds her tight. “Amber, I’m your guy, but what made you change your mind?”
“Grandma says you got the G. E. seal of approval.”
“General Electric?”
“No, Grandma Ester, we both want you in my life.” Amber has a big smile. They hug and kiss with all the fire fighters applauding.
Matt takes Amber’s hand and leads her into the fire station where they can talk in private. Amber is thinking, I’m so lucky. Matt is thinking, I can hardly wait for the honeymoon.
Across town, Grandma Ester is still at her lunch date thinking, I hope Amber and Matt have a little girl and name her Ester… “Hey Giovanni, don’t put that pepperoni away…I’m not done yet!”
